Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Custom Fit Fifth Wheel Installation Kit with the Carbide Black Base Rails for the Ford trucks. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1997 to 2004 Ford F-150 trucks, and the 1997 to 1999 Ford F-250 light duty trucks. And on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model of vehicle, and it'll show if this will work for your application.
Now, this kit here is a complete installation kit. It'll allow you to install a fifth wheel to your truck bed. The kit will include everything shown here on the table. It includes the side custom fit mounting brackets, the base rails, all the hardware you need for installation. Even a nice set of detailed instructions that'll describe how it all goes together.
Now these side mounting brackets, I do want to talk about. They are custom fit brackets. They're designed to mount beneath your truck bed to provide attachment points for your fifth wheel rails. They do have a black powder coat finish on to resist corrosion. And we mentioned they're customs fit.
So they'll provide a custom fit by mounting to the existing holes in your vehicle's frame. If you look at the holes that are drilled in these brackets, they'll line up with the holes on your frame, and that'll minimize the amount of drilling that's required, which will, in turn, cut the installation time in half when compared with the universal bracket kits. Now the base rails, which are these parts right here, these base rails is what'll sit in your truck bed. They allow the installation of the fifth wheel trailer hitch to your vehicle. These rails are visible in your truck bed.
These, if you notice, have a carbide black, sort of like a matte black finish, to match the color of your fifth wheel hitch. Also, these base rails are industry standard rails. They are compatible with BMW, CURT, Draw-Tite, Reese, and Husky above bed fifth wheel trailer hitches. Fit was good. Only had to drill two holes in the frame of a 1997 Ford F150.
