Can You Transfer a Trailer Brake Controller from Ford to Chevy?

Question:
Are trailer brake controllers interchangeable from a Ford to a chevy?. I need a different vehicle and wondering if I can get one now or should I wait for the next vehicle

Hi Dan,
Yes, you can absolutely reuse an aftermarket trailer brake controller like part # C24VV when switching from a Ford to a Chevy, so you don’t necessarily have to wait. The controller itself is universal, but the part that usually changes is the vehicle specific wiring harness. Many plug and play setups are designed for a specific make and model, so when you switch vehicles you’ll typically just need a different adapter harness to match the new truck, or you can hardwire it if there is not a harness available.
If you want, tell me what brake controller you currently have and what vehicle you’re in now versus what you’re considering next, and I can make sure it will transfer cleanly and let you know exactly what you’d need to make the swap easy.

I use it with my VW Atlas n Jeep wrangler. Harness plugs are the same. Works great just need to recalibrate when swapping. Super simple
