Today we're going to be looking at the GloLight LED Backup Light with the grommet and the wiring pigtail. This is from Optronics. The round backup light is for trailers and utility trucks. It is certified for the backup light function in a two-lamp system. When a pair of lights is installed, your second light would be sold separately. The light itself is going feature a nice sonically sealed waterproof housing and lens unit that can be submersed. The GloLight series is going to feature a bright outer ring of light that's going to really offer a smooth appearance.

This an LED system; LEDs are going to make great replacements for incandescent lights. They last much longer. They burn brighter, and they're much more efficient. You also don't have worry about replacing bulbs, and you don't have to worry about burned-out filaments. When it comes to the construction, you're looking at a polycarbonate lens and housing. The LEDs are going to be white LEDs.

They're going to have that clear lens so it's going to allow plenty of light to come through. It is designed to be a recessed mount with the included black PVC grommet. The light would fit into a four and a half inch diameter hole. See how these two pieces fit together. So again, mounting grommet is included. It's also going to come with your industry-standard molded two-prong plug with the wire leads right there.

Now you'll notice on the back of the light that it has a connection point for three prongs. Don't let that throw you off. Optronics puts the three-prong connection on a lot of their lights, even though it may only require a two-prong plug. So as you can see when you plug this in, even though it only has the two wire and two prong design, it covers up that whole area for a nice sealed connection. The unit is Department of Transportation compliant. It meets FMVSS 108 requirements. When it comes to the dimensions, this is going to give us a diameter, measuring from outer edge to outer edge, of four and 1/4 of an inch.

The depth, including the plug at the back, is going to measure two and 3/16 of an inch deep. Just this portion up here, that's going to give us a measurement of 11/16 of an inch deep from the front of the lens back to this lip right here. It's going to contains 21 diodes or 21 LEDs. The power it draws at 12.8 volts is going be 0.425 amps. Optronics is going to put a lifetime warranty on the LEDs. I'm going to hook it up to an actual power source, that way you can see what it looks like with power running to it. So I'm going to connect our plug. White wire's going to be for your ground connection. It already has the ring terminal attached to it so you easily get that grounded. Then your red wire's going to be your power wire. So you can see here that the light sends out a nice consistent signal. Again it's going to have that multi-diode design, 21 LEDs total, so it's going to really optimize our light output. Sends out a clear, strong, consistent signal. Again, white LEDs with the clear lens really helps bring out a lot of light. It lets a lot of light through, and I think it's going to optimize the amount of light that's being put out from the actual unit. So overall nice design and again, Optronics is going to put that lifetime warranty on the LEDs.
