Specs:
The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
Recessed-mount trailer lights install with a grommet, which is often sold separately. These lights extend past the trailer surface and require a hole for installation. If replacing a light, you can utilize the pre-existing hole. If installing a new light, you will need to cut a hole or use a mounting bracket (sold separately) to complete the installation.

Today we're going to take a look at the LED backup light for truck or trailer. This light is going to give you that backup signal whenever you turn on your lights and you go into reverse. Helps to illuminate the night, make it a little easier to see where you're going, and also lets other drivers know that you're backing up.It's going to be a submersible light so it'll work out well for marine trailers as well as just your everyday trailer, enclosed trailers, other things like that. You can also use this on flatbed trucks. Anything that's going to have that larger, bulkier frame that you need this nice big recessed mount backup light for.It does have that built-in flange with a little kind of foam gasket there. Helps to give it a little bit of road shock protection and also seal up the back of our light. As you can see, my light is on right now.
I had it powered. Turn the lights out in the studio. It gives you a better idea of how bright this is at night or in low-light situations. Pretty good amount of light. Not anything blinding, but it does meet DOT compliance standards.
Meets the FMVSS 108 requirements, and that just stands and that just stands for the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard for reverse lights.Pretty simple to install. We'll have just two wires to hook up, power and ground. Red wire will be your power, white wire will be your ground typically on the plug that you'll use for the back. It's a little bit misleading. The plug on the back of our light does have three terminals so it makes you think that it should have a third function or a second function, but it's just going to utilize these two prongs.
You should get a plug that looks like this so it matches up with those two diagonal prongs from each other. That third terminal, it's just a dummy terminal. It doesn't really do anything for you. You can find these plugs here at etrailer.com to get that wired up. It just plugs in place and then you'll connect your wires.
Again, white to ground, red to power. The lens is made of a durable polycarbonate and same goes for the housing. We'll have our white LEDs with that nice clear lens. I like that it kind of makes almost like a spiderweb pattern so it looks kind of cool, kind of art deco. It's a nice-looking light. Sits flush with wherever you mount it up to with that recessed design so it'll look really nice on your enclosed trailer or any of those box framed trailers. The back of the light will fit into a four-and-a-half diameter hole so that's the size that we'll either need to drill out or utilize on our trailer wherever we're mounting this up to. Overall, the outer flange is about five-and-a-half inches in diameter, and the light going from the front of that housing to the back is about an inch, but then with our attachment point there it's about an inch and 7/8. Just under two inches. Our light faces just by itself is about four and a quarter inches across. As you can see, it has a total of six stiods 00:03:49. The power draw at 12.8 volts is 0.18 amps, so that's a low power draw for as much light as this puts off. That's the advantage of LEDs. They have a very low power draw but give you a nice bright light. No filaments that can break or bust with this, so it's pretty much maintenance free. It's compatible with 12-volt DC systems, and it's sonically sealed and waterproof. So again, light is submersible. Works out well for any marine applications or if you're just going to be out in some extreme weather using this all the time, it should be a good long-lasting light for you. That's going to do it for our look at the LED backup light for truck or trailer.
