Features to know about

Exact Fit for Reliable Braking: Built for 2,000-lb Axles

When you’re running hydraulic brakes, you need a hub and drum that fits right and grips strong. This Dexter hub-and-drum assembly is made for 2,000-lb axles with BTR spindles and works with 7" hydraulic brake assemblies. It provides the proper surface area for the brake shoes to bite, giving you dependable braking every time.

All-in-One Kit for a Straightforward Install: Bearings, Seal, and Hardware Included

No need to hunt down individual parts. The kit comes with inner and outer bearings (L44649), matching races (L44610), grease seal (10-9), grease cap, wheel bolts, and lug nuts. With everything matched up and ready to go, it’s a simple bolt-on job that saves you setup time.

Built Strong for Long Service: Sturdy Iron Hub and Drum Construction

The iron build holds up well under load and resists wear from repeated braking cycles. It’s made to keep running smooth mile after mile, whether you’re replacing worn parts or upgrading an older trailer.

Sized Right for Standard Wheels: 5 on 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern

The hub’s 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and 1/2" wheel bolts make it a direct match for common trailer wheels from 10" to 12". With a 7"-diameter drum that’s 1-3/4" wide and a grease cap flange diameter of 1.986", each hub supports up to 1,000 lbs for balanced performance across both sides of the axle.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Put this on my 2002 Jayco Eagle 14so. Perfect fit. The old lugs spun in the hub, easier just to replace than try to repair.

Drums installed easily, wheel bearing races not very good quality, had some pitting due to rust, Decided to install as I had a trip planned and didn't want to spend another weekend working on it. Hope it lasts.

by:

All the parts I ordered were delivered in a timely manner, and seem to be high quality. They fit perfectly which really impressed me as many variations there are in these types of parts. I would definitely do business with etrailer.com again. Thanks.

by:

Their on time delivery was really Excellent ! I’m in gratitude to setup Hydraulic brakes to keep my load in order and safe from twisting. They exceeded the mark on ‘Prompt delivery’. However, I had to get the right spindle from another reseller; check that ‘a/16 is greater than road tolerance.

One of the best projects I ever did. Love the results. Everything worked, fit and preforms as expected. The customer service helped me order the correct parts, the first time. Replaced lines, hubs, bearings, drums, brakes, everything.
First Rate.

Works perfectly and made well! I have a 1997 Jayco 1207 popup camper and it was kind of a guess on which one to buy. I was torn between the Dexter 7 x 1 1/4 or the 7 x 1 3/4. I chose this one and it was perfect! My only complaint is that one of them arrived to me with multiple chips and starting to rust, but I figured it's just going to get scratched up anyways so I just put it on the trailer. The bearings, grease seal, lug nuts, and the actual hug seem to be just like OEM. Shipping was very quick as well!

  • Trailer Tire/Wheel Combo for a Karavan Snowmobile Trailer with 8 Inch Wheels and Hydraulic Brakes
There are currently no brake assemblies that are going to fit an 8 inch wheel because of the exact problem you have encountered: the hubs are too large to fit. The smallest we can go is for 10 inch wheels. You might be able to go to a 205/65-10 tire which would be about 2 inches taller than the 215/60-8 tire and wheel # AM3H325 that you have referenced. You would need at least 1 inch of clearance above the existing tire for the larger size. If you have the space on the trailer for the...

  • Replacement Axle with Hydraulic Drum Brakes on a 2,200 Lb Boat Trailer
I have the perfect replacment trailer axle for your boat trailer. For this, I recommend using the Dexter Trailer Axle part # T20BTR-7258. The Dexter trailer axle measures 72" from the face of each hub and 58" from the center of each spring seat. The measurements you gave are likely the same as what is listed above because the start of each measurement could vary slightly from person to person. The outside diameter of this trailer axle is 1.75" which should be what is on your trailer now....

  • What is the Outer Diameter of Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for Hydraulic Brakes 8-271-7UC3
The outer diameter of hub and drum assembly # 8-271-7UC3 is approximately 8 inches (7-15/16 on the one I measured) but the only reason I can think of that you would need that information is to make sure it fits a certain wheel size. This particular hub/drum fits 10 to 13 inch trailer wheels.
