The Dexter Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator w/ Electric Lockout keeps braking smooth and consistent even when you’re hauling up to 8,000 lbs. Its hydraulic surge design automatically matches the braking pressure from your tow vehicle, so you get steady stops with none of the jerking that can happen with mismatched setups. It’s made for disc brakes and uses a 2-5/16" ball coupler with an 800-lb maximum tongue weight rating, giving you strong, predictable performance every time you slow down.
With the integrated electric lockout solenoid, you can back up inclines or into tight spots without the trailer brakes locking up. The solenoid automatically engages when your tow vehicle is shifted into reverse through a 5-pole flat, 6-way round, or 7-pole wiring harness. A built-in shield protects the solenoid from the elements so it keeps working reliably when you need it.
The zinc-plated finish protects against corrosion from water and road grime, making this actuator a solid choice for trailers that see wet or salty conditions. Underneath that coating is a sturdy steel body designed to resist bending or warping in tight turns. The zinc plating helps extend the life of the actuator while keeping it looking clean and ready to work.
Inside the actuator, a unique twin-roller setup reduces resistance during telescoping so it moves in a straight line every time your trailer pushes forward under braking. That smooth stroke translates into even hydraulic pressure at the brakes and less wear on internal parts.
Mounting is straightforward thanks to its bolt-on design for standard 3" wide channel tongues. Use Grade 5 hardware and lock nuts in either the two large holes (5" on center) or all three smaller holes for added strength. The distance from the forward mounting hole to the end of the solenoid shield is 18", giving you clear reference for positioning on your tongue. A built-in breakaway kit is included for extra safety in the event of an accidental disconnect.

Hey Matt! I asked Dexter about this, and here is what they said. Make sure the actuator is fully extended back out. This will take the pressure off. If you are having an issue getting it extended. You can block the wheels and slightly pull forward. Once off make sure there are no burrs on the ball or in the ball coupler. Also make sure the ground is level. Is this a new actuator or ball ? Let me know if this helps or not!

The solenoid valve for the Titan brake actuators has one eighth inch pipe NPT threads on the make end and three eighth - 24 inverted seat threads on the female side that a three sixteenth size brake line would install to. We do have a video that is useful about the solenoid and installation.

Works fine, But there are many times that a bypass or lockout is needed.
