  • Trunk bike rack carries 2 bikes using the rear of your vehicle
  • Easy-to-use Fit Dial system adjusts rack base to fit your vehicle
    • Installs with 6 attachment straps
  • Dual support arms provide excellent stability and fold down when not in use
  • Rubber anti-sway cradles and straps hold bikes securely by the frame
    • No-sway cages help prevent bike-to-bike and bike-to-vehicle contact
  • Soft cushioned pads on rack base protect your vehicle

Specs:

  • Capacity: 2 bikes
  • Weight capacity: 35 lbs per bike
  • Distance from center of arm to center of arm: 14"
  • Weight: 9.7 lbs
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

Thule Passage Fit Dial system

The Thule Passage offers an affordable, safe way to transport two bikes without a hitch. The Passage mounts to the rear of your vehicle with six integrated straps and Thule's patented Fit Dial system, which adjusts the rack base to ensure a snug fit.

The Passage includes cushioned anti-sway cradles with Thule's No-Sway Cage accessories to prevent bike-to-bike contact during transport. The anti-sway cradles also keep your bikes from making contact with the vehicle.

The carrier's dual support arms provide stability for your bikes during transit, and the arms conveniently fold down when not in use for additional rear clearance and easy storage.

Excellent and prompt customer service! When I first ordered my product it wasn’t in stock— staff were quick to let me know and offered me comparable products. I ended up waiting for my original order and shipping quick and they stayed in touch with ideas! Thule: The instructions could be a little more detailed. I ended up watching YouTube videos to help me instal. Overall it was easy, and this was the first rack I’ve ever installed and I did it by myself! I was surprised to learn the bike rack is in no way secured inside your vehicle, so.. I store it in my garage when it’s on.

Comments
I wish that the bar that secures “female” bikes was included. I also ended up spraying the metal clips with rubberized spray because it will scratch where it contacts. I transport a very heavy e-bike mostly, I’ve been extraordinarily happy with its performance, price, and it’s easy on, easy off style. Often recommend.

My Thule bike rack has worked well over the past year mounted on my Hyundai Elantra GT. Pretty easy to mount whenever I need it, and I do appreciate how the carry arms can be folded down. I will say, however, that as a woman rider it is extremely annoying how bike racks are only made for grown men. So women and children are left struggling. I only use my rack for me and my kid, and it is super challenging to load the bikes onto the arms (and an adapter works for my bike but not for a kid's bike).

I am thoroughly impressed. My chosen product was out of stock when I ordered it. Someone immediately contacted me with options, with a no pressure option of just waiting for my chosen rack. I just received it yesterday and it's great. I got the Thule Passage II and it's a perfect fit for my Buick Encore. It took 10 or 15 minutes to install and it's very stable.

One year update! Still loving this. Its super stable on my trips from long island up to the adirondacks and hasnt failed me yet. The straps hooks are still practically new and the rubber clampy strap things are still super tight. I never worry that my bike is going to be loose. Well put it this way- if I had to buy another bike rack, Id buy the exact same one and Id Def purchase again from etrailer.

Excellent product!! Solid and well made The anti-sway bar will keep my bikes from moving around while traveling. I brought it too transfer my bikes too different walking and bike trails here and around Nashville, Tn. It’s definitely better than trying too put my bike in my car. I’ve installed the Thule Passage 2 bike carrier- trunk mount on my 2005 infinit G35, I’ve taken some pictures of my installation can you tell me if it’s correct? Thanks

Hi, For starters, we installed the bike rack, put 2 bikes on it, took it to the mountains and had a blast mountain bike riding:-) Yes!!!! It definitely works, but..... you will need a very strong person to twist the sections that hold the bike (or should I say reef) to move them into a position so they are not so close together or you will not be able to get 2 bikes on them. In videos it looked like a breeze to twist them into place... but not so. It took some serious elbow grease but is possible ...so if at first you don't succeed get a body builder to take a shot at it. You could even get several and offer a reward for whoever can budge them:-|...and for the spiritual among us... you can also pray and bring God into the picture and get some angelic muscle on it, bless it, pray over it, dedicate it to God, etc. ...and remember... when in a parking lot remove it and put it in the trunk so it will still be there when you get back. If you do decide to hire your family, friends and neighbors to move the pieces apart to get the bikes to fit, get it on video... this could be good!!:-).. it could go viral, it could pay for itself!!!

It’s been a year and the product still works, but I have some tips. Consider duct taping the metal hooks as the weight of the bikes can cause them to become unhooked as your driving even when you have sinched the hell out of the straps. This ensures they will remain in place. They can also rattle which is an un-nerving feeling making you wonder if the hooks have come undone. Duct taping prevents that metal on metal clicking giving you peace of mind. Also, ducting the straps on the top secures them. I bought a new bike only to discover it would not fit on the rack in the forward section of the bike. My neighbor showed me how to put it on so the whole front part if on top of the plastic piece, then strap it through the lower part of the bar. You can also duct take the foam rollers at the bottom as it starts to come undone. Bingo!! Happy biking folks!!!

Fantastic! I drive a Dodge Journey Crew 2012 and it fit very well. I couldn't even tell you how long I searched for a bike rack that held two bikes and that fit my big SUV and that was relatively low priced, so this was perfect! I usually never write reviews but I had to because this bike rack held two bikes on it with no incident during my 4 day non stop driving cross-country trip on multiple types of terrain. I was super impressed with how well this held up. Very happy with my purchase! (:

The carrier works fine on larger (adult) sized bikes, but 20" kids bikes barely fit on the forks due to their spacing and their large plastic saddles and straps, and they only fit on the outermost saddles. This is probably true of most fork-type carriers, but customers need to be aware that the carrier won't fit more than one 20" bike on it. In general, I 'm happy with the carrier. One other note, after mounting it on the car and loading the bikes on it, retighten the straps holding it to the vehicle, and stop and do so again after driving a few miles, as they stretch a little under initial load.

Positive: The product is well thought out and works for a wide range of automotive vehicles. It comes with interesting dampers that i think work. Instructions seem to be translated from another language, but are quite good, accompanying pictures make installation straightforward. A test drive over speed bumps shows that the rack will support the bike for all travel needs. It can be disassembled , collapsed and stored in the trunk. Downside: The rack is made for the classic triangular shaped frame: horizontal cross bar, "male" bike. For bikes without the horizontal bar, mounting is a little less satisfactory. Such a bike can only be mounted on the outside mounts. Cannot use the damper on one side. Picture shows the mounting. as to a design solution, maybe brackets could be replaced with smaller profile, some adjustability? however, as it is, vibration control is good and adjustability with smaller profile would have vibration concerns.

Comments
Hanging style bike racks like the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier and others like them do require the use of an adapter bar like part 64005 to properly hang bikes with slanted cross tubes. The adapter bar gives the bike a horizontal surface to hang from.

Work well and ultimately fits. I feel confident neither the carrier nor the bike will fall off. It's a bit confusing the first couple of times getting all the straps in the right places, but you get the hang of it. My bike rocks back-n-forth a little & peddles bump into the car's bumper but I think that's a matter of how I had to hang it on my particular bike (a step through that required an accessory bar). 2015 Ford Edge

Ordered online, it shipped the same day. Received it 3 days later. There is a little assembly, but, pretty simple. It took me less than 15 minutes to install and no tools were needed. It is adjustable to be used on many different auto types, but, the instructions were very clear about how to adjust it to fit my 2011 Ford Edge. I have used it twice so far to transport my bike. There are a couple of items that are inherent in the design, not a flaw, but, you need to be aware of them. First, you can't use rear window wipers. Second, the back-up alarm goes nuts because it registers a bike less than 6 inches behind you (I tolerate it for the few seconds it takes to back out of my driveway or out of a parking lot). Third, there is a little flexibility, it is held on with straps and clamps, not bolts, so, it bounces a little when you go over bumps or make sharp turns, however, it holds the bike fast to the frame and stays on the car. I use mine to transport my bike on short trips around town to bike trails. On a long trip I would suggest checking that the straps remain tight from time to time during the drive.

2011 Volvo XC70

We just mounted this on our 2011 Volvo XC70 and I'm giving it 5 stars although we haven't actually put a bike on the rack and taken it for a ride. However, I was super pleased with the price, I was confident based on information on the site that this would work with my car, and it arrived on time. The rack is really sturdy and fits well. The side straps have to go low to be secure on the metal part of the hatch (see photo, sides of hatch are mostly plastic for the rear lights). It feels super secure and we can even open and close the hatch with the rack in place. I'm pleased so far - we'll see how it goes once we start driving with the bike in place. Hopefully the photos will help other Volvo drivers decide if this is the right rack for them.

Within minutes of opening the box, the bike rack was secured to the car. The purchase was for my teenage daughter who can easily attach and remove the rack from her car. Typically this will be used to transport one bike. If you typically transport two bikes, then I would recommend buying the rack that can hold three bikes. Less chance of banging together.

Comments
Not very happy with the bike rack after one year. No matter what method used to tighten the side to bottom straps, they always come loose after a miles or two of driving. Will probably put the bike rack in the trash. It is that bad.
Ed - 05/10/2021

Thank you for your review. When tightening down your straps I would tie off your strap right beneath your plastic fastener, that way the vibrations of the road will not loosen it. If you need a new strap I will attach it here.

I would not recommend this specific product for a Volvo. The clips that connect to the side of the trunk do not fit properly. The black rubber that is supposed to buffer the metal in the clips wore completely off, even with additional protection. As a result, it wore through the paint on the Volvo, and now need to get it touched up. I will be purchasing a bike hitch, and throwing this bike rack away.

This rack was worth the wait and the investment during the Pandemic. After buying an inexpensive rack from a Big Box store I was not happy with the quality or the stability. With my Thule Trunk mount those worries of my bike plunging to the highway behind me are a thing of the past. If you don’t have a hitch on your vehicle this is the rock solid way to go. I can pit this on my trunk in under 60 seconds!

2013 Hyundai Sonata

We ordered the Thule Passage Trunk-mount 2 Bike Rack and Swagman Bike Frame Adapter Bar for 2013 Hyundai Sonata. It was shipped the next day and we received it two days later. Since our bumper is quite soft, we had to make a modification and actually use the bottom clips that normally hook under the car and put them on the bottom of the trunk. It worked quite well and we are very happy with the product. We live in southwest Florida part time and wanted to be able to take our bicycles to Sanibel and Captiva Island. There are also many nice bike trails in south Florida which we would like to explore. If I'm here by myself, I know that I can put it on the car myself without my husband's help which I'm very happy about.

One of the bolts where the numbers are would only screw in half way. Everything else was easy to put together. The hooks that are on the side are not very stable on my Ford Explorer. They tend to slide up on to the glass back window. I tied the loose ends of those straps across and down lower to hold the hooks in lower position off the back window.

Will the Thule TH910XT for the 2011 Camry accommodate a womens bike?
-- comment by: Sandy - 09/02/2013

Yes it will, but it will probably need an adapter bar. Without an adapter bar, the bike either will not fit, or will sit far off balance like in the picture from Melony. An adapter bar provides a full size, level tube from which to hang the bike. Thule offers one, it is part TH982XT.

When we bought our 2013 Explorer, there was no bike rack available that would fit it. We were thrilled to find this rack for our car. Easy to set up. Works perfectly. I chose this model because the design of my car only allows this "trunk" type of rack. I worried that it wouldn't be as sturdy or secure, but it's great. Even with two bikes, visibility out the rear is still fine. I have no complaints at all!

Very prompt delivery of the rack from the seller. I used this rack extensively during the last year as bike riding got me out of the house during the pandemic, and it worked very well. However, the plastic piece that attaches to the part of the frame (that contains the seat) to minimize the bike's movement back and forth broke recently. And due to the design (it's part of the rubber device on which the bike rests), it is not replaceable. I'm using a bungee cord instead, and the bike is still help sufficiently in place.

Most of the weight of the rack is supported by the lower arms of the rack though so not that much weight gets put on the spoiler.

  • What Are the Dial Positions Required for my 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon on the Thule TH 910XT
For your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon the fit dial on the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier part # TH910XT should be set to number 9. I confirmed this with Thule for you. I have linked a video for you showing the exact installation method for you to check out. This will help show where you want it to sit on the Outback for best results and fit.

  • Recommendation For Trunk 2-Bike Carrier For 2008 Volkswagen GTI - R32
Based on your information, the Thule Passage 2 Trunk Bike Carrier, Item # TH910XT, is a confirmed fit for your 2008 Volkswagen GTI - R32. It has a weight capacity of 35-lbs per bike. It has a secure mounting system that protects your car, has anti-sway cradles to minimize bike movement during transport, and is easy to install. As with all trunk-mount bike carriers, a rear wiper on the car cannot be used with the rack in place. If you are carrying women's, children's, or alternative...

  • Will the Thule Passage Allow Trunk/Hatch Access on a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica
Any trunk-mounted bike rack will prohibit access to the trunk/hatch while it is installed. That is true for the Thule Passage, part # TH910XT, as well. If opening the hatch of your 2018 Chrysler Pacifica while still having the bike rack attached is important to you, then I recommend using a hitch-mounted rack with the tilt-away function. A good one is the Swagman Trailhead, part # S63360. It works with 1-1/4" and 2" hitches and uses the same hanging-style that the Passage does (the bikes...

  • Will The Thule Passage TH910XT fit a 2020 Ford Edge
I have a solution but the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier part # TH910XT is not a confirmed fit for your 2020 Ford Edge. Instead the Yakima HalfBack 2 Bike Rack part # Y02636 or 3 bike rack part # Y02635 are confirmed fit and will do a great job. I have attaches a video of the HalfBack going on a 2015 Edge to watch as a guide but be sure to also see the instructions for specifics on exactly how it should be set up for your 2020 model.

  • What Trunk Bike Rack will Fit My 2021 Mini Countryman?
I have a great alternative for you. Unfortunately, the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier - Trunk Mount # TH910XT will not fit your 2021 Mini Countryman. With that being said, a great compatible 2-bike trunk rack for your vehicle is the Thule OutWay Trunk Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - Adjustable Arms # TH45JV. One of the benefits of the OutWay over the Passage 2 is the built-in same-key locking system that will deter theft of your bikes from the rack. In order to add more security to the rack itself,...

  • Can I Open the Rear Hatch of a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek with a Thule Passage Trunk Bike Rack Installed
I may have a solution for you, but you're not going to be able to open the rear hatch of your 2015 Subaru Crosstrek XV with the Thule Passage # TH910XT while bikes are attached since the added weight of the bikes would likely damage the hinges/shocks on the gate. I'll also add that after opening the hatch while the rack is attached without bikes installed, you'll want to re-tighten everything just to make sure nothing became loose during the process. If you've got a trailer hitch on...

  • Trunk Mount Bike Rack for a 2016 Audi A3 eTron Sportback
The Thule Passage # TH910XT was a fit for the 2006 Audi A3 5-door Sportback but you will need a different bike rack for your 2016 Audi A3 eTron Sportback as Thule says none of their bike racks will fit. For a similar bike rack I recommend the Yakima FullBack # Y02634. This has adjustable arms to give you the best fit and it installs with just 4 straps which makes for a quicker/easier installation. The integrated bike and rack locks are a great addition as well since they give you some...

  • Can Trunk Bike Rack Carry One e-Bike Weighing 60 Pounds
I do have a solution for you, however you won't be able to carry a single 60 pound e-bike using any of our trunk mounted bike racks, including the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier # TH910XT. The individual cradles on the rack aren't capable of safely handling a bike that weighs more than 35 pounds. This means your only option for transporting your bike will be with a trailer hitch and hitch-mounted carrier that's designed for e-bikes. For the hitch the Draw-Tite Class I # 24990 will...

  • Comparing Thule Passage and Yakima Hangout Bike Rack for 2016 Toyota Highlander
Both of the bikes you mentioned have fairly standard frames so either trunk rack would fit them easily. The Yakima Hangout # Y02637 and the Thule Passage part # TH910XT are basically each manufacturers version of the same bike rack. Since the reviews are noticeable higher for the Passage I'd go with it. It fits both of your Highlanders as well.

  • Best Trunk Mount Bike Rack for 2015 Buick Encore with Spoiler at Top of Rear Hatch
Because your 2015 Buick Encore has that spoiler piece at the top of the rear hatch I do not recommend the use of either the Thule Passage or Gateway. There is only one bike rack I recommend; the Hollywood Racks Over-The-Top rack # HRF2 (the 3 bike version is # HRF2-3 ). These racks have an additional upper arm piece to move the straps over the spoiler so no weight is put on it. I have linked a video showing how it works. Please note you DO NOT have to have a roof rack for this rack...
