Specs:
When hauling heavy loads in the cargo area or by pulling a trailer, you will often see the rear of the vehicle sag while the front end rises. In these cases, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but more of the vehicle's weight as well. Because less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making less contact with the road. Overall vehicle handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. The resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with the vehicle's factory suspension to keep the vehicle level and improve your driving performance.
The Timbren system has a vehicle-specific bracket that will be bolted onto each frame rail above the rear axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits one inch above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride you are used to.
Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape provides increased resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping the vehicle level.
Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's or passenger's side of the vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when hauling off-center loads.
Because the vehicle handles better with the springs, less turbulence will be passed along to the trailer helping to keep the trailer in line. Your driving comfort is further enhanced if the trailer does begin to sway (from a gust of wind or passing of a semi) because the movement from the trailer is not transferred to the vehicle. This also works to make the sway subside quicker.
Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened as the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.
Compared to the competition:
Timbren's suspension enhancement systems are much easier to install than air springs - no air hoses are needed to be run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments necessary. The rubber construction causes Timbren's springs to be more elastic than similar products constructed of micro-cellular urethane. More elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride because the rubber has more travel.

Easy to install and use.First, this is the third truck have have put Timbren SES on, so I am a big fan of this option for a pickup truck. There is no impact to the ride when the bed is empty, when loaded it is a big improvement keeping the truck is a level position, reduced sway.. I would have given this 5 stars, except the lower bracket is rusting. All the other parts are painted black except this one part - see picture... This is after one year, truck is parked in a garage in NC (not a high snow/salt state)...
I just installed the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System on my 2019 Ford F-150 4x4. The install was pretty straight forward, but I will say that the written instructions were pretty vague. Reviewing the Video on the e-trailer site was helpful. Also the markings for Left and Right could be improved. The marking “L” was very small and baring readable and the “R” appeared to be under some scratch marks so it was not legible at all. I think this product will help considerably. I have attached photos. The clearance between the rubber spring and the bottom plate is approx 1”. I also previously installed the Equalizer weight distribution & 4 way anti sway system to tow my 30’ Travel Trailer. The Timbren is to prevent any slight squat may occur.
I just completed installation of my Timbren Rear Suspension for my 2016 Ford F150. In 2012 I purchased this same product from etrailer for my Ford F150, which I upgraded to the 2016. I have a 5th wheel and the Timbren product allows my vehicle to be perfectly level in all situations. A great product!!!
The Timbrens made a big difference. In fact, when I gave them to my mechanic to install, he said "Good choice. I have installed a lot of them on customer's vehicles and on my own."
These suspension supports have worked well for towing my camper. Much more stable and less sway even though I have an Equalizer hitch.
I have a 2016 Ford F150 Regular Cab with 6.5 foot box and 5.0 engine, 6400 lb payload package, 9.75" ring gear with 3.73 gears with a locker. (Hard to find!) Ease of installation is easy, with even minor mechanical skills. I took my time and it was 40 minutes to install both sides. Took some measurement of the factory bump stop distances to the axle - 6.5 inch's approximately. (Would take a lot of weight to compress it that far!! Have hauled some rocks before, almost 1 ton and it was still 3 inchs from touching the axle!)
After installing I took some measurement of the gap between the plates and the rubber that will come into contact with when the suspension compress's. Left side (Driver) was 1.25 inch. (Full gas tank.) Right side (Passenger) 1.50 inch. Have not driven it yet to see how the suspension will ride before these Timbren Rubbers will come into play.
Purchased these to help when I haul a 700 Yamaha Grizzley ATV (750 lbs approx.) and tow a camp trailer with a 550 lb tongue wt. approx. Separately the truck would be level, but with both it was squatting it to much. I am hoping this helps in that situation & to help stabilize the ride.
Gave a 3 for easy of installtion, but yet to be determined how well it will help when towing & or hauling ATV or both, and how the ride will be empty.
Solid Product! Yeah it's a stiffer ride when loaded But that's the sacrifice made to have more control of the haul while underway. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay more level with a heavy boat/trailer setup as in my case.
Not that install is hard but removal of spare tire before install, may have helped with space if you don't have a lift.
I have a 2021 Ford F-150 4x4 Supercab with a 6.5 bed and installed these with the 1” spacer puck. I tow a Rockwood 33’ 5th wheel trailer with a dry weight of 8500lbs and a pin weight of 1305lbs. The truck rides perfectly level when hooked up and the ride is second to none, without any pogoing over dips or excessive jarring over bumps. The ride when not towing is completely unaffected. I made the decision to purchase the Timbrens over airbags based on the positive reviews and have never looked back since I installed them.
This does exactly what you hope it will. I am not a master mechanic, but the install was done by myself after removing the tires. It picked up 3 inches from the level that was used previously.
Product arrived within a business week. Took a couple days for me to get around to installing it on my Ford 150 Lariat 4x4. Not bad to install, I had to do it laying on my back in my garage. Finally hooked up my 4th wheel to my Andersen hitch today. Truck was level, 5th wheel was level, and I was happy. Ready to rock 'n' roll.
Easy install! While towing the fifth wheel it’s like having a new heavy duty truck with a nice ride. Not towing it’s back to my factory smooth ride.
Night and day difference while towing. This is one of the best additions to my truck. My camper is around 7k pounds. My back end doesn't sag as much and doesn't bounce as ki when towing. Not noticeable when unloaded. I recommend this to everyone e who tows.
I does what’s it’s suppose to do but once it was installed it bottomed out though it would stand off a 1/2 inch or so but doesn’t. Rough ride with no load because it’s engaged
It was a 5 beer job. Not too bad. I did it with a jack and jack stands common tools. I was worried about the ride. I took out a loaded trailer at 4000lbs and these things work! The ride was comfortable! So I unhooked the trailer and took off, the ride was again comfortable! I didn't put the spacers in as I felt that would be a bit much. All in all, great product!
I am unable to load the photo of the broken U bolt clamp that goes over the axle. The lower piece. When you torque the nut to 30-35 ft/lbs as specified the ubolt will shear off at the weld under the plate. Quite a bit of time wasted to have what is obvious to myself and my son-law (both engineers) and error in the specification.
The installation is straight forward. I did not have any issues. The first side probably took an hour. But that was due to assembling the required tools. The second side took maybe twenty minutes. Hopefully, this work will translate into a more level truck when towing. I did have to pull the installation instructions myself. The instructions were not in the package.
Love them, I put about 2000 lbs in truck bed, now no more squat, also towing camper helps with sway and leveling it out. Highly recommend!
I have a 2016 F150 XLT. Max towing package. Front end has spacer to level the truck. Then when i tow it squats really bad. With the weight distribution hitch it still squats. I installed this product and you can see in the picture before and after. With no distribution hitch it’s barely squatting. Fantastic product. Nice thing it allows suspension to flex independently still unlike air bag kits.
The product worked as advertised. If you get these, do EXACTLY as the installation videos show how to install them. I thought otherwise and "did it my way" and for my punishment, I had to hoist the truck up again to remove the spacers. The ride was too harsh with no load and the spacers installed. Removing the spacers got rid of the harshness. When the load is applied, the suspension enhancement kicks in as I expected.
This was a very easy install, I took the rear wheels off because I have easy access to a lift but you could do it without removing them. I used them on a 2019 crew cab f150 4x4 with a 6.5, box and there was 2” less squat when I had my 1300 lb camper on it. It also helped with stability in cross winds. Great product and no worries about air lines or pressure loss.
Ordered these (6,000 lb Kit) to cure getting too nose high when towing after installing a Bilstein 5100 Level Kit on my 2016 F150 SuperCrew 4x4 (front struts set on max 2.10" setting sitting nearly perfectly level). Tow a 29' overall length travel trailer (~5,500 lbs) and for work we use a 20'x8' enclosed trailer (~9,000 lbs when loaded). Use a WD hitch, but still get the nose up when pulling both.
Install was easy. Read through the instructions and watched a video before they came in. Crawled underneath and installed in about 30 minutes after I received them. Didn't remove the spare or the heat shield like the video I watched showed. A lift would have made it easier of course, but can be done in the driveway if you like doing stuff yourself. Used the included spacer and have about a 1" gap, which falls in the advised .5" to 1.5" range from the instructions.
I haven't gotten to use them with the work trailer, but I have pulled the travel trailer and they do exactly as advertised, cures the sag, and nose doesn't go up at all. May be slight nose up with the work trailer, but I wouldn't believe it will be like before. Driving while hooked up feels smoother, too, with less body roll/lean in turns. So, overall satisfied with the purchase.
The only reason this is getting 4 stars is that, like others have stated, the parts that were painted left a lot to be desired. Very sloppy with some areas that were already flaking off and one part had a spot that was completely missed by paint. The piece that goes underneath the axle to secure the contact plate is not even painted, it's just raw metal. So, I'm curious about what that will look like after one salty winter here in MO. I may find some time before the winter hits and take everything off and do some painting myself, but for $215 you'd kind of think that wouldn't be something to worry about doing with a brand new part.
No hardware was in the box, or instructions. Box was factory sealed, so it puts their quality in question. Picture shows the nuts and bolts to install but none are in the box.
The shipment tracking system is the best I've seen. The pricing matched what my mechanic brother-in-law could get.
I towed a 26 ft. Travel trailer 600 miles last week with the new Timbrin’s in place. They kept my load level and helped stabilize sway. A good product overall!
got the product when stated , went on simple enough but used google to really see how things went together. Timbren doesn't give very good instructions with their product wish they would put diagram so as to be able to see how brackets go, but happy so far haven't put load on the truck yet that's coming up with a trip in august with my 30ft camper and truck loaded for trip guess will come back and let you know how the product works after the trip , but etrailer delivered when they said they would thanks will keep you in mind for future purchases.
