The air springs and jounce springs in this system work together to give you the best ride whether your truck is loaded or unloaded. Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate air springs have internal urethane foam jounces that protect the air springs and provide added ride comfort when your air pressure is low. The jounces also allow you to temporarily carry a load if the air springs lose air pressure. This gives your 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton, or 1-ton pickup, motor home, or commercial truck air springs that are easier to maintain.
Air Springs Level Your Load
Carrying heavy cargo in your truck bed or trailer puts extra stress on your truck. Your brakes erode faster, your tires wear unevenly, and handling suffers severely. When towing, you might also experience excessive sway, bottoming out, and even inaccurate and unsafe headlight aim.
By pairing your existing suspension with LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate air springs, you can seriously beef up your suspension, ensure equal load distribution, and get the support you need. The springs provide up to 5,000 lbs of load-leveling capacity (depending on the weight-carrying capacity of your vehicle) and distribute the weight of your payload to all 4 wheels. As a result, the stress on your factory suspension is significantly reduced. LoadLifter's air bags are adjustable from 5 to 100 psi for precise support, and they can be inflated equally for front-to-back leveling or independently of one another for side-to-side leveling.
The air springs are made of high-quality, 2-ply, fabric-reinforced rubber. Most air bags lose air at the ends where the bag is enclosed with steel caps. These caps can rust and corrode over time, creating small holes. But the endcaps on Air Lift air bags are fashioned from corrosion-proof Zytel nylon, a material that is both stronger and lighter than steel, ensuring that the air bags won't lose air.
The air bags also have Air Lift's exclusive roll plates, which protect the air springs and beef up their load capacity. These sturdy plates help guard the springs from moving parts under your vehicle that might puncture the air bags. The plates also provide a larger surface area for each spring to roll on. The extra surface area gives you a higher spring rate at a lower air pressure, resulting in a better ride.
Built-In Jounce Springs Add Control and Comfort
The closed-cell urethane jounce spring inside each air spring gives you a more stable, comfortable ride. Each jounce acts as an overload spring and engages when your current air pressure level isn't enough to support your load. So on a rough road, the springs will kick in if needed to absorb bumps and shocks and help you to avoid bottoming out. When the jounces support a load, they adjust progressively - the more weight you pile on, the stiffer they become. The urethane material engages more smoothly than rubber jounces so you get a less jerky ride.
Because these jounces are taller than your factory jounce bumpers, they engage sooner than your factory jounces would to provide better support. And if the LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate air springs have insufficient or zero air pressure, the internal jounces will help to temporarily support your suspension and protect it from damage until you can repair or adjust the air spring system.
Easy Installation
This system installs with the included brackets and hardware. Just mount the springs, inflate them, and ride. To inflate the LoadLifter springs, you just have to pump in air through the inflation valves. A line kit is included with the springs so that you can install the manual inflation valves (one for each spring). These are typically mounted on the bumper but can be installed anywhere that is easily accessible. If you want to make the springs even easier to use, you can get a compressor and gauge system (sold separately) that allows you to monitor and adjust the springs from the cab of your truck.

These have been awesome. Put on f150 that I haul loads with. Easy to operate and install. Use little air for normal driving then add air when towing or hauling. Definitely an upgrade.

I installed the air bags and everything fit as advertised. Works excellent and would recommend to anyone who is pulling or hauling heavy loads. The only issue I had was some of the small parts for the air valves were missing.Not a big deal as I have a maintenance shop had extra fasteners to finish installation. Very good product

2019 Ford F-150
I installed the 88385 kit on my 2019 F-150. In addition, I installed the 7400EZ air compressor which I purchased from a separate source. I installed the air bags to improve the towing performance of my truck. In addition to improving my towing performance, & completely unexpected, was that the air bags smoothed out my ride as well. I do have one comment on the installation instructions. They specify that the top mount be installed first while attaching the bags to the bottom mount & checking the alignment. While this step needs to be completed, I was unable to get the top screws into the bags after spending a great deal of time attempting. I finally removed the entire assembly & assembled every thing off of the vehicle & then reinstalled. I did the alignment on the bottom & top plate per the instructions. I lovely placed the screws in the top plate off of the vehicle & did the final alignment & tightening with both plates secured in place. For my installation this was possible by making certain the axle was fully dropped to put the assembled bags in place. I reattached the top plate by allowing the axle to move back up towards the frame. For those that are installing the 7400EZ compressor kit, follow the instructions & do not attach the compressor & modulator grounds to the chassis. If you make the mistake of doing this, the compressor will remain on & not shut off. I love dealing with etrailer!

2017 Ford F-150
We have had the Loadlifter 5000 on our 2017 F-150 for a year now pulling our 6000 llbs of trailer & boat. Not only does it level the truck, but that leveling dramatically improves handling, steering & breaking. We feel much more comfortable on highways and backroads. This is game changing when pulling larger loads in the upper end of of your tow range. Installation on the F-150 was a little more difficult then other models shown, but my wife and I were able to do it in our driveway on a Saturday afternoon.

I'm extremely happy with these air bags. I was using Timbren with a 6000# load capacity but when pulling my 5th wheel, the load had the feeling of rolling. The LoadLifter 5000 resolved that issue.

I bought a camper that was maybe a little too big for my F150 and these springs make towing my camper much more comfortable and safer. Highly recommend to anyone towing heavy. I would even put them on an F250 if and when I upgrade my truck and trailer.

2016 Ford F-150
So far so good. They have been on now for less than 24 hours. The install took more time than anticipated as the confines of my work area restricted movement, while my jack stands were too short to fully keep the rear of the truck elevated enough to allow the axle to hang. Past those self induced problems the install was straight forward except getting the correct torque on some of the bolts were impossible because of their final position, and the air hose was not equipped with a protected heat sleeve. I routed the passenger side air hose as far from the exhaust as possible; fingers crossed. It holds air and lifts, so it's doing its job; that's good enough.

One note: The kit recommends a minimum of 5 lbs of air at all times even when the bags arn't needed which unfortunatly lifts the rear of the truck of about an inch. Not a big deal but worth mentioning.

This was good but I wish I would have tied the two lines to a single valve. You want them to be the same so when you are doing the work, just put a T inline and run one valve for the ride control. Good product that helped level out the pickup when loaded and kept the ride desirable when unloaded.
