Video Transcript for Lippert Bolt-On Shock Kit w/ Heavy Duty Gas Shocks Review

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, I'm gonna take a look at the Lippert Bolt-On Shock kit with the heavy duty gas shocks for thirty-five hundred pound axles. Now this will instantly improve your ride with the suspension upgrade kit. It uses these heavy duty gas shocks to absorb any road shock and vibration and provide a more comfortable towing experience. Does include all the pieces here laid out on the table. Has the two upper mounting brackets, the two lower mounting tie plates, the four U-bolts with the installation hardware, the two gas shocks with the mounting hardware for the shocks.

Now this is a very easy bolt-on installation. These included tie plates and U-bolts will replace your existing hardware. The upper brackets right here is what will mount on your trailer frame with the included self-tapping screws and the shocks will attach to the tie plates on the bottom and to the upper brackets to help dampen movement of your axle. They do have a nice enamel finish to resist corrosion. A few specs on this, the application.

This is for a leaf spring suspension system on a two-and-three eighths-inch diameter, thirty-five hundred pound overslung axle. Now the minimum clearance between the inside of the tire and the I-beam flange is four inches. The shock length when it's fully extended is 13-and-a-half inches and when it's fully compressed is eight-and-five eighths inches. But that should do it for the review on this Lippert Bolt-on Shock kit with the heavy duty gas shocks for a thirty-five hundred pound axle..

Smooth easy transaction

by:

Service and shipping was great! However the salesman "Will" was OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!

by:

Easy install @ 4 hours. WOW it sure smoothed out the trailer ride and added some control when being passed on freeway by big rig. Awesome add

by:

great product, shocks on a trailer make a big difference in ride

by:

etrailer is my go to guy. Priced right, shipped fast, fit right and does the job. What more can you ask?

by:

Product did not fit after going through all the work to install. Could not put tires on shocks where in the way

by:

Due to supply chain problems, it took almost three months to get the kit, but ETrailer staff informed me several times of the order status. Excellent customer service!

by:

I did not want to pay an arm and a leg for new shocks for my ATV. I used this kit to add on some shocks. It comes with a variety of fittings so it is not too difficult to do.

I have ordered things from e-trailer in the past. I have always talked to someone that knew what they were doing and also knew what I was talking about. That don't happen very often now day's.
That's how it was when I talked to Cathy. I don't know if e-trailer train's their people or not but the people I've talked to really knew their stuff. Thanks e-trailer and a big thank you to Cathy.

by:

Welded the brackets on to hold the upper shocks to the frame and has been working perfectly.

by:

Arrived quickly. Well made product. Didn't really come with instructions but it is a easy straight forward installation. Service with etrailer always been great.

by:

Can't review the product yet as it is not installed...but as far as etrailer.... 5 stars. Fast shipping and updates on tracking until shipment arrived.

by:

As allways , dealing with e trailer is a breeze. Good prices and prompt shipping.
be a few days before i can get the shock kits on my fifth wheel rv. I dont know why shacoks arent standard on rv campers over 6 k. Shock absorbers help take the hit off the springs .

by:

These fit my single axle 4000 lb trailer nicely. The shocks I’ll have test on my trip to Baja this winter. I was worried they wouldn’t fit but they did. When I was looking on line I regretted buying this set because it didn’t say what width of springs the base plate fit ! But after contacting e trailer they were able to tell me the inch 1 1/2 spring. Alls good for now. I’ll let you know back if the springs are any good !!!

by:

Suspension working fine. Noticed that shock absorbers were rubbing on tires occasionally, don't know if it was on backing up tight turns or what, so I have turned the Shocks upside down for more clearance.
Will know more after my next trip.

by:

easy to order and super fast delivery. I will come to e trailer on anything I need.

by:

Very good product
Definitely helps with
trailer "bounce"
4 stars only because I had to modify upper mounts for my particular Jayco Eagle HT fifth wheel

by:

This is the replacement for my old worn shocks with all the necessary hardware to mount them and the new springs. I'm glad I bought this because I had to cut the u bolts off anyway. My upper mounts were welded to the frame so I didn't use the new ones that came with the set. They fit perfectly. Would have given 5 stars but I had to bend the u bolts slightly to get them to line up with the holes in the plate. Other than that it was easy. No torque recommendations but I used a torque chart from the web. Ride is much better.

by:

As simple AS this is , it still would be nice to have an instruction sheet for ref.

  • Replacement Equalizer, Shackles and Shock Kit For a 2022 Nash 23D Travel Trailer
The Triangular Equalizer # TREQ310 is a replacement for the Dexter 13-10 on your 2022 Nash 23D travel trailer. You should consider upgrading to the MORryde ALLTREK 4000 Shock Absorbing Equalizers # MR89DR. These will pair with either the 2-1/4" # MR46ZR or 3-1/8" # MR76ZR shackle kits depending on the length from center hole to center hole on your shackle links. While we do not carry the same KYB shocks installed by Nash we do have the Lippert Bolt-On Shock Kits. These are available for...

  • How to Determine Correct Leaf Springs For 2018 Jayco Travel Trailer
Hi Austin, I can help you determine the right replacement double-eye leaf springs for your 2018 Jayco trailer, though we don't have any way of knowing what specific ones you need. It's pretty easy though, as all you need to do is measure your current leaf springs from center-to-center of the spring eyes, and you also need to know the weight rating of your axle. Based on its weight, your 174BH is likely to have a 3,500 lb axle, though you'll want to double check just to be sure. Leaf springs...

I will be happy to explain how to install the shock kit # LC281255. In addition to the instructions below I have also included a picture of the actual instructions. 1. Raise trailer and jack up the axle to release pressure on the springs. 2. Remove old u-bolts and tie plate. 3. Install new tie plate with the longer side facing outward and torque the u-bolts to the specs in the instructions. NOTE: Do NOT reuse old components. 4. Compress the shock and make a mark on the inner shock where...

  • Shock Kit for Travel Trailer Recommendation
Kits are not designed to fit specific trailers though based on my research we do have one kit that may work for you, depending on a few measurements you need to take. Based on my research your Lance 2280 travel trailer is a single axle so the Lippert Components Bolt-On Shock Kit # LC281255 may work as it is for single axles that are 2-3/8" in diameter, which is standard for 3,500 lb axles. So long as you have that diameter axle and a 4 inch clearance between the inside of your trailer's...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement System for Keystone Bullet 220RBI with 42 Inch Axle Spread
If you want to replace your equalizer with an integrated suspension enhancement, you will need to update other components within your system for the correct fit. This will most likely require repositioning your axle hangers if you wish to use that style system. The better option for your suspension enhancement is to add shocks to your axles instead of using a cushioned equalizer. This is a much better way to assist with your suspension and will function with your current setup. I recommend...

  • Can Trailers Have Shock Absorbers Installed
Some trailers do have shock absorbers; it isn't all that common but is gaining popularity, mostly among camping trailers. The main reason it's not too common is most people aren't worried about the ride being that smooth. Usually the trailer's suspension is enough since people aren't riding in the trailer and most are traveling on highways or at least paved roads. Also, trailer suspension can be enhanced using cushioned equalizers or helper springs instead of shocks. We actually carry...

  • Replacement Hanger Kit, Leaf Springs, Brake Assemblies and Drums for Triple Axle 3,500 lb Axles
We have ways to help you find out what you need but you'll have to do some measuring to determine exactly what your trailer needs. Judging by what you listed it looks like you have a triple axle setup that uses 3,500 lb axles. So lets first start with leaf springs. For that you'd want the 3,500 lb springs part # e54SR which matches the length of what you have now and the capacity. The Dexter Suspension Kit part # K71-360-00 you referenced would then work well with this. So now for brakes...

For the proper shocks, you simply measure the axle diameter. If you have a 3 inch axle diameter then you will use the Lippert Components Bolt-On Shock Kit w/ Heavy Duty Gas Shocks # LC281281. If you have a 2-3/8 inch diameter axle then you will use # LC281255. The connection to your axles is the difference in the kits. The shocks themselves are 13-1/2 inches fully extended and 8-5/8 inches compressed in both kits. A super easy way to determine this is to measure the backside of your...

I looked up Prometer tires because I have not heard of them before. Based on what I have found they are basically an economy brand. Provider tires on the other hand are a premium brand and what some RV and trailer manufacturers use in the production of RVs/trailers. I may be a little biased but based on what I know if it were my trailer I would run the Provider tires any day of the week over the Prometer. • 2 inch Lift Kit for 2024 Cougar 30BHS and Shock Kit
Hey James, so we can definitely help lift your trailer right at 2 inches with the Correct Track Lift kit part # RR23QX but we don't have a way to do that with leaf springs. To replace your equalizer I would need to know what equalizer dimensions you have now. Basically the distance from left to right on the mounting holes as well as the distance from the top hole down to the bottom holes. We have shock kits too like the part # LC281255 which fits the 2-3/8 inch diameter axle you have.

Yes, you can use a lower-rated leaf spring for your 750 lb trailer, though the capacity of your trailer is going to be that of its lowest-rated component. I assume your trailer is 750 lbs unloaded, so if you were to change to a 1,500 lb rated leaf spring, for example, then your trailer would only be able to have a fully loaded weight of 1,500 lbs. • Trailer Suspension Enhancement to Help With Bumpy Ride While Empty
Hey David! Trailers without a load are generally more susceptible to bounce so that is not surprising to hear. This can be really uncomfortable, especially if you're towing like that often.
