Video Transcript for Breaking Down the Valterra Check Valve for RV Fresh Water Systems

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Valterra Lead-Free Brass Check Valve for your RV Fresh Water Systems. Has a half inch male pipe thread on one end, and a half inch male pipe thread on the other end. Now basically, if your city water connection is causing your fresh water tank to overflow, then you do want to get a new check valve. Basically, you'll install this check valve to stop the water from backing up and keep it flowing in the right direction.

And when you do install this, if you look closely, I'm gonna sort of point it out, you should be able to see it right there. It has an arrow pointing that's telling you the water flow goes that way. Because you can see, here's your check valve. If you push that, the pressure will push that to open it. You can see on this end how, when I push it, it opens.

This will also prevent water from backflowing out of your hot water heater. This is a brass, and it is a lead-free brass construction. It is safe to use. And again, the fitting size to go over again. Half inch male pipe thread on this end, half inch male pipe thread on this end.

But that should do it for the review on the Valterra Lead-Free Brass Check Valve for your RV Fresh Water System.

Haven’t installed it yet. It’s winter temperatures now may not install until spring now. So can’t verify operability but it is just what I needed. Fast delivery

fresh water system to stop .back flow works great

by:

Easy install and worked great.

by:

So far it seems to work after using teflon tape. Brass to plastic doesn't seal well. Pump did pickup the water and am testing to be sure of back flow of city water to the fresh tank.

by:

Used this to "fix" the faulty check valve in a ShurFlo pump. I just installed it inline with the old, bad valve. A cheaper, and better solution, than just replacing the pump.

I'd give it 5 stars, as it was priced right and fixed the problem.

The Check valve is what I expected and the order and delivery were seamless, I have dealt with etrailer before and my previous experience was excellent.
I wish someone would come up with a better design, I have gone through two of these check valves including the original plastic one that came on the Suburban HW heater, the plastic inner parts do not have a long life, If I'm lucky I will get two seasons out of a Valve. For that reason I ordered a spare.

Exactly the part I needed to complete new water heater install, and as usual, etrailer came thru with having part in stock and quick shipiing.

Hasnt failed me yet! Easy to install.

Exact match for what was removed from our camper. Worked perfectly.

Item: P23415LFVP: This item is better than the OEM that came with the 5th wheel camper, the stock part only has two star contacted points inside the check valve and the new one from etrailer has three star contacted points.
Etrailer.com has the Best online price: better than PPL, camping world, adventurerv .net, tweetys.com.
Thanks

  • Check Valve Needed for 10 Gallon Atwood Water Heater
We do have some check valves available from Valterra and Camco, both of which are big in the RV plumbing industry and have great reputations. The 2 most popular check valves that we have are parts # P23415LFVP, which has 1/2" MPT x MPT fittings, and # P23402LFVP, which has 1/2" MPT x FPT fittings. I have also linked our selection of check valves for you to filter through.

  • Replacement Fresh Water Check Valve Options For A 2021 Grand Design Reflection
Fresh water check valves are typically 1/2" NPT fittings, but I wouldn't know if you'd need a female or male connector without actually taking your city water inlet apart. If you remove your city water inlet from the wall of the trailer you should be able to see what style is needed. For a male to male fitting you can use part # P23415LFVP and for a female to male fitting you can use part # 37262195

You should only need the Valterra Check Valve for RV Fresh Water Systems # P23415LFVP at the cold inlet of your water heater. Typically you will have a total of three fresh water check valves; one at the cold inlet to the water heater, one at the city water inlet and one located at the outlet of the water pump.

The water leaking is normal its your overflow which means that your fresh tank is now full. The Valterra Check Valve for RV Fresh Water Systems # P23415LFVP has dual 1/2 inch MPT. The Valterra Check Valve for RV Fresh Water Systems # P23402LFVP has a 1/2 inch MPT x 1/2 inch FPT.

  • Tip for Removing Difficult Valterra Check Valve # P23415LFVP
Brass fittings like the # P23415LFVP can be difficult to remove. Especially if there was thread locker or thread tape used. It's hard to say how much force you'd need but you might try heating up the fitting to release any thread locker.

  • Troubleshooting Water Problems at the Check Valve
Check valves can fail due to ice in the winter or debris in warmer months, or simple wear at any time. I think if it were me I would try to warm the check valve with a heat source like a heat gun, being careful not to melt the plastic around it. At the outdoor connection to the check valve I would remove the rubber o-ring with the screen in it. It just pulls out. Then, looking in there you will see a stem sticking up in the middle. you should be able to push this stem in about 1/4". It...

  • Recommended Check Valve Backflow Preventer to Keep City Water Connection From Filling Water Tank
It sounds like your system needs a backflow preventer like the Camco RV Fresh Water System Backflow Preventer - 1/2" Diameter - Brass # CAM23303. This allows water to flow only in one direction so that your fresh water tank doesn't fill up from water backfilling into it from your city water connection. If your connection requires a double male pipe thread connector then # P23415LFVP will serve you well.

Yes of course. The Valterra Check Valve for RV Fresh Water Systems part # P23415LFVP is a pretty common upgrade when it comes to RVs. • What Is The Difference Between A Check Valve And By-Pass Kit
Antifreeze leaking into the water heater could be remotely caused by a bad check valve, however, this would all depend on the location of the check valve. Generally speaking, there are only 2 check valves installed in the plumbing system for an RV. There is one coming from the city water inlet and one on the fresh water tank. • Check Valve for Water Heater with 1/2 Inch Male MPT Fittings
The best option we have for you is to use the Valterra Check Valve part # P23415LFVP and then go to a local hardware store to look for a 1/2" to 5/8" adapter as we do not carry a check valve with both 1/2" MPT and 5/8" MPT fittings. These are pretty common through so I don't think you will have any issue finding one. In order to join the fittings together you will also want to use the Valterra PTFE Thread Seal Tape part # A05-0265.
