When a brake assembly is worn out, rebuilding individual brake parts can turn into extra time under the trailer. This right-hand assembly gives your compatible medium-duty trailer axle a complete brake assembly replacement, keeping the repair focused on swapping the assembly instead of chasing separate internal components.
Manual brake adjustments are one of those trailer jobs most owners would rather not repeat. This self-adjusting design maintains proper brake adjustment as components wear, which keeps your braking performance more consistent and eliminates the need to crawl back under the trailer for manual brake adjustments.
Brake fit matters before the old assembly comes off. This assembly is for the right hand, or passenger's side, and matches 12-1/4" diameter x 3-3/8" wide brakes with a 4-bolt mounting flange pattern on 8,000 lb axles. Mounting bolts and hardware are sold separately (BRKH12), so your install plan needs to account for those before the trailer's apart.
If you're replacing both brake assemblies at the same time, you don't have to hunt for each side separately. We offer a kit with both the right-hand and left-hand assemblies (LC29MP), which keeps the paired brake setup easier to order.

Hi, everyone, Steve here with etrailer. Let's take a look at this Lippert electric trailer brake assembly. It's a self-adjusting made for 8,000 pound axles for the right-hand side and this is going to be a 12 1/4 inches wide by 3 3/8 inches thick assembly. So, folks, as you know, trailer brakes like this are made for heavy-duty axles, 8,000 pounds in this case, and they're going to provide that crucial braking performance needed. Now, this is a self-adjusting design. So you've got this wire right here that goes around all the components and that's what's going to be doing the adjusting along with this star wheel up here.
As you can see, you do get the hardware included. It's your four-bolt, four-flange mounting pattern. You can see those are those 3 3/8-inch wide assemblies. And then you do have the dust plate, dust shield, back here on the back. It's just kind of loose there right now obviously because it's not bolted in place.
And then, of course, you got your wires coming out of the back as well that work with the brake magnet up here. So we do obviously carry the matching left-hand assembly. That's item number LC57RP, sold separately, if you need that as well. We do recommend, and so does the manufacturer, always want to replace your assemblies in pairs. That's because obviously if one's worn out, the other one's probably not too far behind unless you know for a fact you're having issues with one side locking up on you or, you know, for whatever reason, engaging a lot more than the opposite side.
But primarily you want to change them in pairs just so you get the same braking performance evenly from side to side. Now, again, this is your 8,000-pound axle. Perfect fit for my Lippert 7k axles. The passenger side was worse than the driver's side. Wires were cut on both on passenger side. One of the passenger side completely fell apart when I removed the drum wit one lone spring still hanging on. While the driver's side only needed shoes, I decided to order new for that side also. That gave me self adjusting housings all around. Very pleased!!
