Features to know about

Restore Confident Braking: Self-Adjusting 10" Electric Drum Assemblies

If your old brakes are dragging or out of tune, these TruRyde electric trailer brakes make stopping smooth again. Each 10" x 2-1/4" assembly automatically adjusts itself, keeping the shoes properly aligned so you always have full braking torque without crawling under the trailer to tweak them. Built for 3,500-lb axles and compatible with most standard hub-and-drum setups, they give you reliable contact and consistent braking every time you tow.

Long-Term Durability: E-Coated Backing Plates and Bonded Pads

Rust and wear can ruin braking performance fast. TruRyde’s e-coated backing plates hold up against corrosion from road grime and moisture, while the automotive-grade friction pads are fully bonded to the shoes—no rivets to scrape your drums when they wear down. The pads’ tapered edges help prevent stutter and lockup, so every stop feels controlled instead of jerky.

No-Hassle Upgrade: Bolt-On Fit for Standard 4-Bolt Flanges

When it’s time to swap out old brakes, these assemblies keep things simple. The left-hand and right-hand units come preassembled and bolt directly onto a standard 4-bolt mounting flange used on most 3,500-lb axles. You just wire them to your electric brake controller—no hydraulic lines or actuators to deal with. Mounting hardware is sold separately if you need new bolts and nuts.

Reliable in Real Use: Tested Magnets and SAE Certification

TruRyde tests every magnet for pull force and conductivity so you get consistent response when you hit the brake controller. Each assembly meets SAE standards for quality and performance, giving you dependable braking whether you’re running 13", 14", or 15" wheels. It’s a straightforward solution that restores solid, predictable control to your trailer.

by:

These brakes went on easy and were just what my trailer needed.

by:

Super easy to install and a good quality product. The only thing I would recommend is adding the nuts that hold them on.

by:

great help over the phone. knew their inventory. received items on time

by:

The only problem I had was I had to cut the other nuts off. Even heating them up the still would not turn. I wish this item would have came complete with the new nuts for them.

by:

Everything fit well.

by:

I originally ordered the incorrect brakes for my travel trailer axles. etrailer corrected my order and took my return of the wrong parts. Everything was perfect from installation to operation. Thanks.

by:

Super easy install on my 3600 lb square axle setup. hardest part was cleaning the rusty old hub I am keeping. the last brakes were 30 years old so these should last the rest of my sailing life.

I love your sailboat, Carlos! How long have you been sailing?

by:

Great! I accidently ordered the wrong break assemblies...Josh helped me order the correct ones and sent me a UPS label to print out to return the others. I just boxed them up in the same box the correct ones arrived in and they are on their way to UPS today.

by:

This was awesome that the everything was installed and all you had to do is bolt them on. I have done many drum brake jobs on vehicles that were real hard to do this job took like 15 minutes to install.
The sales rep was very helpful and was delivered in a few days.
I will be purchasing all my RV parts from etrailer!!! Thank you

This was my second order from etrailer. Great description on parts. Found what I was looking for right away. Delivery was very fast. Will definitely order again from them.

by:

What an improvement over the old brakes. The self adjusting feature is what I have been waiting for since I bought the trailer.

by:

Just completed the installation. All went well, the only issue being the pre-set on the shoes was quite wide, had to crank them in a lot to match the drums.

by:

Product looks great! Should work well when my brakes need replacing on my 240BHWE Springdale!

by:

Very easy to install, especially using the E-trailer video on the topic.

by:

Came on time, parts were correct. Comes with both sides for 120.00. Great deal with no issues. Takes about an hour to replace both side using hand tools without rushing.

by:

Taylor helped me get parts I needed, and fast shipping. everything arrived in good condition. parts fit properly and works great good. thanks etrailer

by:

Sent us wrong product. Person we placed order with said there was no such thing as a 3000 lb dexter axel. Guess what? There is and we have it. We are waiting for overnight delivery as we leave on vacay Wednesday! We have been told the axel is rare...so don't want the person who helped us in trouble...maybe a teaching moment. Bree was a big help and knew e aptly what we were talking about...just praying UPS does their job. It's not the item, sure it's good, just not right. Etrailer is still top on our list.

by:

Nice looking brakes. Would have given 5 stars but eTrailer shipped these by USPS. Took 8 days to arrive. Should have used UPS. Will hesitate to buy anything else that I need pretty quick.

I was going on a trip in a week and I packed the my trailor bearing with grease and saw the brake shoes were going out. I was leaving in less then a week and you guys had the parts I need to my house in 3 days. This saved our trip.

Works as they should, but I did read deep enough to see that they did not come with new nuts. Other than that, everything was great.

  • Can I Install Brakes On Only One Axle Of A 2 Axle Trailer And Which Axle Should They Go On?
If you are only putting brakes like the # TRU36FR on one axle, we recommend doing the front axle for a few reasons. First, the front axle technically will bear more weight than the rear. Most trailers it would be about 60% on the front axle and 40% of the trailer weight on the rear. Since the front axle bears more weight this effectively gives it more braking power. Secondly with the way tandem axle suspension flexes (especially leaf spring axles), the front axle is actually pushed...
