Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna take a look at this TruRyde 10 inch by 2 1/4 inch left hand driver's side self-adjusting electric brake assembly for 3,500 pound axles. Now electric brakes are easier to install. They offer more user control than hydraulic brakes. Basically, they'll require only an electric brake controller which we do sell separately on our website. You don't have to have any brake actuator or hydraulic lines for this operation of electric brakes.

Now you can see on the back, because they are electric brakes, there are two wires. These do need to be connected. One goes to the brake feed, the other goes to a ground. And you can see the wires are both the same color. So you can use either wire for either function.

Also, these brakes are self adjusting brakes. They will automatically adjust to deliver optimum performance and braking power. And a way you can tell that is you'll see this cable, and that'll let you know that it's always a self adjusting brake. That cable runs around a pulley, connects to this lever, and that lever will adjust your adjustment wheel down here at the bottom. So basically, when you first install this, you'll make your initial adjustment.

And then after that, there'll be no need for any manual adjustments. They'll automatically adjust as you go. And what's nice, because of that proper adjustment, will lead to better brake efficiency and less wear on your tow vehicle's brakes. You can see the magnet for the electric brakes, and it's a durable magnet. It's thoroughly tested for pole force and conductivity.

The friction material on the brake shoes is a SAE rated composite friction material on your brake shoes. This is a non metallic material, which is chemically bonded to the shoes. Also, it's nice on the edges, the top and bottom edges of the shoes. They are chamfered. And this will give you a nice, smooth operation. Now, when you do go to install this, you'll attach it to the four bolt brake mounting flange on your vehicle. Now this will not include the mounting nuts and lock washers that are needed to install it. Those items we do sell separately on our website. Again, the configuration on this assembly is a left hand driver's side. And the way you can tell that, if the sticker wasn't on it, the sticker will say LH or left hand. But if that sticker wasn't there, the easiest way to tell it is you look at the length of the pad on the shoes. So this one will go from here all the way down to here. And this pad will go from here all the way down to here. This is the longer pad. This is the shorter pad. The shorter pad is your primary shoe. And that shorter pad will always face the front of the trailer. So that's gonna tell you that this is gonna go on the driver's side of the trailer. Now the measurement on the brakes, this one we called is a 10 inch by 2 1/4 inch. And what those measurements are, the 10 inch will be the diameter. So if we go from one brake shoe to the other, there's your 10 inch measurement. And the 2 1/4 is the width of the pad. So there's your 2 1/4 inch measurement. The wheels that this will work with is 13 inch, 14 inch, and 15 inch size wheels. We had mentioned the back here, it fits a four bolt brake mounting flange bolt pattern. And this is for axles that are rated up to 3,500 pounds.
