Features to know about

Designed for Lippert ABS Braking

When the unexpected happens and you have to hit the brakes hard, Lippert's ABS system steps in. Each brake assembly uses the sensor from your original brakes to communicate directly with your trailer's ABS, helping prevent lockup and keeping the trailer steady. The system can also apply braking at individual wheels to help counter trailer sway, giving you steadier handling both on long highway stretches and during sudden stops.

Self-Adjusting for Consistent Stops

Brake shoes wear as you put on the miles, but you won't need to crawl under the trailer to make adjustments. Lippert's self-adjusting assemblies use an internal cable to maintain the right tension automatically. That means dependable braking performance trip after trip without the constant upkeep of manual adjustment.

Simple Electric Connection

Installation is as straightforward as wiring into your in-cab brake controller. Once installed, the integrated ABS sensors sync with the OneControl app after a quick reset, so you get smooth, predictable braking without extra hydraulics or complicated maintenance.

Brakes were well packaged and arrived very quickly. When I opened the package I saw the prominent sticker MADE IN CHINA so I swallowed hard and went to work installing them. Everything went smoothly until I tried to install the ABS sensor. I couldn’t get the bolt in. Upon further inspection I found that the bolt hole was not threaded. I checked the other brakes and found 2 were threaded and 2 were not. Since I was working on my driveway this was just an inconvenience but if I was on the side of the road or in a campground it would have been a real problem. Quality control is not there.

  • Adding Lippert 3,500lb 10" ABS Brake Assembly And ABS Hubs To 2023 Grand Design
Great question, Kevin. Yes, these Lippert ABS 10 inch brake assemblies # LC73PX are designed specifically for 3,500-lb axles that use the Lippert ABS system. For the ABS compatible hub and drum, you'd want to pair them with part # LC44PX. It matches the ABS requirements and gives you the 5 on 4-1/2inch bolt pattern you're running. Just make sure your mounting flange has the standard 4-bolt pattern. Out of curiosity, does your 2023 Grand Design have the Lippert ABS axles already, or...

They sure will, Kristen! The Lippert ABS 10" electric brake assembly # LC73PX is made for use with 13, 14, and 15inch wheels, so you're covered. If you’re adding new hubs too, just make sure they’re ABS-compatible, either the # LC44PX 5-lug (5 on 4-1/2) or # LC24PX 6-lug (6 on 5-1/2) options would work depending on your bolt pattern. Have you decided if you’re using E-Z Lube axles? That can help simplify bearing maintenance down the line. Did you already have a shop install the Lippert...

  • How Does Lippert ABS Trailer Brakes Get Wired And Programmed On Trailer With Anti Lock Brakes?
Derek, great question, and you're definitely not alone in wondering this. The good news is, there’s no special programming required for the # LC73PX brake assemblies. They’re electric drum brakes, so they wire up just like any standard setup: one wire goes to your trailer’s brake circuit usually blue, and the other to a clean ground on the trailer frame. Then the ABS connector gets plugged into the ABS Module as seen in the attached pics. The ABS Module is only available from Lippert at...

You absolutely can, Sean, just be aware this 10" 3,500lb brake assembly set # LC73PX is for use with Lippert’s ABS hubs. That means you'd also need to install one of the compatible ABS hub-and-drum assemblies like # LC44PX or # LC24PX for the ABS sensors to all work together with the ABS module and ABS sensors (only available through Lippert). Since your trailer currently has no brakes, you’ll also need to add brake mounting flanges to your axles if they’re not already welded on, plus...

  • Are New Lippert ABS Brake Assemblies Bonded Or Riveted To The Mounting Plate?
Great attention to detail, Jerry. These Lippert ABS 10" 3,500lb brakes # LC73PX use fully bonded friction linings, not rivets. That means you get more contact area and less chance of cracking or crumbling, especially helpful if you tow often or in rough terrain. Plus, the edges are tapered and circular-ground to reduce stress and improve braking torque. If you’ve had issues with lockup or uneven wear, these are a solid option. I've heard great things about the new Lippert Anti Lock Braking...
