Recommended Suspension Support While Towing a Trailer w/a 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2

I have a 23 Chevy Colorado ZR2. My vehicle has a soft suspension so there is significant sag when towing my trailer. Because the ZR2 has a factory 3 inch lift will I have to add spacers? Im assuming I dont want a huge gap between the sumospring and the truck. Thanks!

Welcome back Bo! You are correct the SumoSprings like item # SSR-212-40 that fit the stock height 2023 Chevy Colorado are not going to engage properly when installed on your ZR2 model. The gaps too big and it'll do nothing but bounce your rear end around like a basketball.
I checked with SumoSprings and there are no spacer options for the SumoSpring kits that fit the 2023 Chevy Colorado. This means you'll need to go with another option to address the sagging when you're towing.
For your 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2, I recommend the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit item # RAS4617. This 2,000 lbs system attaches directly to your leaf springs and can be adjusted for extra support when you are towing your trailer. They can also be tuned so you can still get the full range of your suspension when you're not towing.
The RoadActive item # RAS4617 is going to not only address the sag you get while towing, they'll also help with overall stability and any axle wrap you're experiencing. They come assembled and ready to install.

Hey, Bo is put the RAS on my 24 Colorado ZR2 to pull an tough heavy overland trailer that caused about a 4" sag. Worked great to resolve the sag when towing. It does raise the tailgate a few inches when unloaded but rides fine loaded or unloaded. Definitely takes some of the roll out of higher speed curves. As long as you are not too short or aren't loading in and out of the tailgate multiple times a day you'll love them.

Thanks for the info, Jerred! After seeing your recommendation, along with Vince and Bill's comments it seems these will be a good option. I tow a Rockwood Freedom 232xrt with a front deck on it. When loading two dirt bikes on the toy hauler the tongue weight does get a little heavy.

Hey Bo, I installed the RAS on my 2017 Colorado 4x4 Diesel. It rides better unloaded and loaded, the sag you mentioned will be greatly improved if not gone depending on how much you load it down. There is no cons just pros. I think all Colorado and Canyon owners should install this system no matter how they use their truck. I preloaded the driver side using both spacers and just one on passenger side to improve sag on driver side due to fuel and DEF tank being on driver side. It’s an easy install also. I don’t think you can find anything better no matter how much you spend. Hope this helps.
