Question:
Hello, I wish to purchase a Timbren HD 2200 lb, 4 inch lift, long spindle suspension to replace the crappy suspension on a small enclosed trailer I have. The trailer holds 4 mountain bikes, parts, tools and weighs 1880lbs fully loaded. Timbren recommended the above part for my application. What I am a bit confused about and need your help with is that in my correspondence with Timbren, I have received information I am not clear on. I want to use the suspension described above. I would like to use a specific wheel on the trailer: AEV Savegre II wheel for JL Wrangler/JT Gladiator. The wheel is 17” x 8.5”, bolt pattern 5X5, Offset +25mm, approx backspacing: 5.77”. The wheel somewhat matches my tow vehicle - 2023 RAM AEV Propector XL. Timbren confirmed I should use their 3500lb hubs, and said I could use my wheels on their 5 x 5 lug pattern, but would need to know if the wheels are “hub centric” or “lug centric”. I have written AEV to get an answer on that. Timbren said that their hubs are “lug centric” and that the AEV wheels are probably “hub centric” in which case I would need an adapter ring, they specified NOT a wheel adapter as this would void the warranty. Timbren also indicated that you Etrailer may have hubs this suspension that are 5 x 5 bolt pattern, hub centric and would not need an adapter ring. Does this all make sense to you? I am not clear as to whether I can actually run those AEV wheels or not. I’ve bought lots of stuff from you in the past and have been very happy with it. If you can help me get the right parts for this project, I’ll buy it all from you again. Thank you, Matt

Hey Matt! Thanks for confirming that information below. The Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - Heavy Duty - Long Spindle w/ 4" Lift # ASR1THDS03 uses a #84 spindle so you will need 3,500 lb hubs to match. If you want an idler hub you can use # AKIHUB-550-35-EZ-K. If you want a hub/drum you can use # AKHD-550-35-EZ-K along with # TRU36FR for brakes.

Thank you Robin, AEV has confirmed their Savegre wheel is a “lug centric” design. Joshua emailed me to say that you do sell the 5 X 5 hubs that would work with this suspension and the AEV wheels I want to use. -Although at the moment I am having trouble finding the hubs on your website. Thanks for the reply, Matt
