If your trailer’s old drum brakes are dragging or fading, this Kodiak 8" disc brake kit delivers a big improvement in stopping power and control. The 1-piece hub-and-rotor assemblies provide short, consistent stops while eliminating the uneven wear common with slip-on rotors. Ceramic pads and a large stainless steel piston give fast, responsive braking that feels smooth and steady at any speed.

Frequent launches or travel on treated winter roads can eat through uncoated parts fast. These cast iron components use a Dacromet finish rated for 300 to 400 hours of salt spray protection—comparable to galvanized steel. That means they stand up to freshwater and saltwater use without rusting or seizing up, keeping your brakes working reliably season after season.

Even small trailers can build serious heat when braking downhill or hauling gear. The vented 8" rotors on this setup move air through the core to shed heat quickly, helping prevent brake fade and extending pad life. The result is dependable braking performance every time you tow, even on long grades or stop-and-go drives.

This kit includes everything needed to upgrade brakes for one 2,000-lb axle with wheels from 10" to 13" and a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. Each assembly comes preloaded with L44649 inner and outer bearings, matching races, grease seals, E-Z Lube caps, wheel bolts, and lug nuts. The side-support caliper bracket design puts the load on the bracket instead of the bolts, helping prevent premature wear for long-lasting performance.

Nothing new which is good news, although I will replace the bearings sometime this winter with Timken. This is the stock brake for Morryde IIS and it work well enough. The China bearing are what it comes with, but in an effort to not have to worrywonder, Timken is my choice. Not sure about some of the complaints but other than cardboard not holding up to heavy metal mine were new and good. I believe sometimes returns and part get put in a box a second time and that screws everyone up. Not being an upgrade, I am not sure there is another choice even if I wanted it.

I decided to go with the Kodiak set up and we couldn’t be happier with the service with them. I feel that the trailer stops around 40 better.
