Features to know about

Lower Deck Height for Easier Loading: 4" Drop Spindle Design

Getting gear or cargo on and off can be tricky when the trailer deck sits too high. The Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with 4" Drop E-Z Lube Spindles brings the deck down about 4", lowering your trailer’s center of gravity and making loading smoother and more stable. This drop design also helps with better handling and steady tracking on the road, keeping everything under control mile after mile.

Built for Lasting Strength: 3,500-lb Rated High-Strength Steel Tube

A tired or bent axle can ruin tire wear and ride quality. This round axle beam is made of high-strength steel with a 2-3/8" outer diameter and 0.156" wall thickness. It’s rated for 3,500 lbs and built to handle the stress of everyday towing. The axle’s slight center bend maintains zero camber under load, giving even tread contact across both tires for a smooth, straight pull.

Simple Greasing Without the Mess: E-Z Lube Spindles with Built-In Zerks

Tearing into bearings just to add grease is messy and time-consuming. The E-Z Lube spindles make it quick and clean. Each spindle has a built-in zerk fitting that channels grease through to both the inner and outer bearings when you hook up a grease gun. Just pump until new grease pushes out the old and you’re done—no disassembly, no fuss, and no guessing.

Ready for Brakes and Springs: Welded-On Flanges and Seats

Getting everything lined up right is important for safe towing. This axle comes with 4-bolt brake flanges and spring seats welded in place at an 80" spring-center spacing. The underslung design mounts leaf springs under the axle for proper geometry and a stable ride. With a 95" hub-face length, it’s ready to take on new hubs, bearings, and brakes that match its 3,500-lb setup.

Straight Tracking for Long Hauls: Built-In Camber for Even Tire Wear

Uneven tires and sway can sneak up on any trailer that’s seen hard miles. This axle’s engineered camber keeps the tires flat on the pavement when loaded, reducing inside edge wear and helping the trailer track true. It’s a small bend that makes a big difference in how steady the trailer feels behind you.

Excellent,better quality than the original.

by:

Axle went in with no issues at all.
Everything
was all pregreased ready to go. Fantastic

by:

Adam was extremely helpful! After searching long and hard, the closest I could find was this axle of 80” spring centers. Mine were only 76” so Adam set me up with a pair of spring seats so I could carefully cut of the factory ones, grind smooth and weld the new seats at the 76” I needed to fit my trailer. After repainting, it looked like factory again. All others parts, brake assemblies, and drum/hub assemblies with bearings fit perfect!

by:

I have had this axle on my trailer for a year now and could not be happier with it. Customer service was great dealing with them. I would highly recommend getting items for your trailer from here.

The axle I bought for my trailer has been perfect and I have not had any issues with it. I highly recommend this axle

by:

Super easy to find on website great info also. Fast shipping.

by:

Fast delivery, part was the correct one, with one exception. I had to have the mounting bracket repositioned just like the previous one I ordered.
Once that is done, it’s a perfect fit. Thus I could only give 4 instead of 5 stars.

by:

Contacted your outfit looking for technical assistance, that was a joke. Even reached out to Dexter, still waiting for them to respond.

by:

Mission accompolished just a few minutes ago. The attached (3) images attached tell the story.

Any customer relocating spring seats should measure closely before welding new seats in place to fit their trailer needs.

Again your technical assistance and quick order leave me a very very satisfied customer..
[Thumbs up]

  • Adding Lift to 3,500 lb Trailer Axle
It's not a stupid question, it's a perfectly logical one but you should not flip the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with 4" Drop E-Z Lube Spindles # 7685269 to get rise as this was not the intended design as it is an underslung axle with spring seats that are intended to be on the underside of the axle. There is a way to add lift to a 3,500 lb axle such as the straight Dexter Trailer Axle Beam # 7359765. What you would use is called an over/under kit, which is commonly referred to as flipping...

  • How To Choose Correct 3,500 Lb Axle for Slipper Spring Setup
In order to determine which axle is correct for your trailer we need to find out what your hub face (HF) and spring center (SC) measurements are. If you take a look at the photo I have attached for you that should then help with obtaining the above two measurements. The most important thing we need to look for is the hub face as the spring center can then be moved (within a range) if we need to. I would love to help but we do not have any trailer hubs that correspond to the dimensions that you provided. Therefore, the only option we can offer you would be to replace the axle all together. In order to offer a replacement for this we would need to know your spring center and hub face measurements (see photo). If you can provide me with these I can then see if we have an axle suitable for your trailer. For example, the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with 4" Drop E-Z Lube Spindle part...

It would also be helpful to know your axles weight capacity. • Can I Use Two Same-Rated Axles With Different Suspension Setups?
Hello Bander, Thanks for writing in. Yes, you can use axles with the same weight rating, but in your setup they will not share the load evenly. If the front axle is solid-mounted to the frame and the rear axle is on leaf springs, the rigid axle will usually carry more of the load and absorb more shock, even when the trailer is weighted down. Tandem trailers work best when both axles are on a load-equalizing suspension. Mixing a rigid-mounted axle with a sprung axle is generally not recommended...

  • Determining Axle Rating for Early 2000s Enclosed Trailer
Hey Matt, There are a couple ways you can still identify the weight rating of your axle if you can't find any info on the frame or on the axle itself. The first is to simply take a quick measurement of the axle's tube diameter. Almost always, if you measure a 2-3/8" axle diameter, you're looking at a 3,500 pound rating. The larger 3" diameter axles will typically be higher rated between 5,200 and 7,000 pounds. The other, more intensive method, is to pull one of the hubs and check for...
