Question:
My garage door opening is 81 inches. How can I lower the overall height of the trailer by at least three inches? The gentleman at the dealership mentioned a 22 axle something that would lower the overall height. Please advice, thank you.

I am not really sure what the dealership was referring to as a 22 axle but we do have options for you to lower your trailer. The first option if you have a leaf spring axle is an over/under kit like the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit part # K71-384-00 or part # K71-385-00 but this would only work if your leaf springs are over the axle, not under. If your leaf springs are already under the axle then the next best option would be to replace the axle with one that has a drop tube like the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with 4" Drop part # 7685269.
However, in order to find out which axle you need you will want to crawl under the trailer and read me the serial number on the axle tag. If this cannot be done then you can measure the diameter, hub face to hub face, and spring center to spring center. For example, the above that you referenced has a 2-3/8" diameter, 95" hub face, and 80" spring center. I have attached a photo to assist as well.
Please note if you have torsion axles then we have options for this as well like the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System part # ASR3500S04 but I would need to know what your axle capacity is in order to recommend a set.
