Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Spare Tire Carrier

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number 413200. This is the Spare Tire Carrier. This is commonly used on horse and livestock trailers, but it can be applied to many different applications. It is a weld-on installation. It's got a nice, solid steel construction with a raw finish so it doesn't require much prep work when you are ready to install it on to your application. Now the carrier is normally welded above the trailer's gooseneck.

It is designed to fit wheels with 5, 6, and 8 lugs. You can see here it's got the numerous mounting patterns. Now it does not come with any hardware. What we're going to recommend is using some half inch diameter bolts. You want to make sure they're long enough to go through your wheel as well.

The bolts are going to install from the backside. They're going to go through, they would extend out, and then you would place your wheel on, and then you would need to place on some nuts on the other side of those bolts. I'm going to recommend using at least 3 bolts to securely and safely hold your spare tire onto this unit. Again, solid steel. We're going to go over some measurements real quick and then I'll explain what this piece is right here. Overall measurement, outside edge to outside edge, is going to be 12-11/16 of an inch.

The inside width from this point here to this point here is about 10-1/2 inches. Going this direction, outside edge to outside edge, we're looking about 6 inches. Taking the measurement from the bottom to the top of the pin, 9-1/8. Bottom to the top of this portion here, we're looking about 7-1/8 of an inch. Now the way this works is this would simply weld on to your trailer.

We got the nice little wings out here so that's going to allow you to easily weld this on. You would already have your bolts installed through the half inch diameter holes. Again, I'm going to recommend at least 3 of them. Then what you would do is you would place your spare tire over the pin here, thread on the nuts with how many bolts you have installed, place this over the pin and then the pin is going to feature a 5/16 inch diameter hole. That way you can install a padlock and lock your spare tire on to the carrier. That's going to do it for our review of part number 413200. This is the Spare Tire Carrier. Again, solid steel construction with a nice raw steel finish. .

Great product, I bough it to mount my spare tire on a small utility trailer. I welded two pieces of angle iron to the tongue than the tire carrier to the angle iron. The carrier is very sturdy and a very simple design. The locking piece is simple and effective. Overall a great price for a great product.

After a year it is still good as new.

This was the best spare tire carrier that I could find on the web and the most affordable. I welded it on the side of my dump trailer and painted it black to match. I did have to drill the lock hole a little larger for my padlock to fit but, other than that I've been extremely satisfied with it. It's strong, sturdy and looks good.

by:

Haven't welded it on yet as it needs an inside truss and wrench holder.

by:

Disappointing - bought for 8 lug - 6.5 and the holes don't line up properly and the wheel is off center and secure on only one side when mounted to the bracket.

I called our contact at redline. To use this spare tire carrier with a 8 lug wheel you will need to use two bolts on the side of the carrier. The wheel will not span the entire carrier. As long as you use the two bolts it is safe to use.

by:

Its just a spare tire holder, but better then most. Strong and lockable with your pad lock. Way better then the bolt to secure the tire. Difficult to steal the tire. Painted before install . I glued the tire mount bolts to the back-side to make it easy to set the tire with out the bolt falling out. Held in place with 2 spare lug nuts It is bolted to the trailer frame ( no weld on ALUM trailer) A good tire mount.

My husband got this to mount a spare tire on his 69 VW Bug. It has worked out great! The mount is as described and was an easy mount!

Still holding up, works great!

by:

Good product. Overall, it's a nicely made carrier that's plenty heavy enough to carry any trailer spare if mounted properly. I would improve this tire carrier by slightly increasing width of the base legs so that mounting holes could then be added for those of us that might want to bolt the mount on the trailer instead of welding it on. It would certainly add to the versatility of an already good mount.

by:

The quality is as stated, the only problem I found was the lug pattern didn't work with a 5 x .5.5" pattern wheels that are on my International Scout ii w/ Dana 44's. The drilled patterns are obviously for trailer wheel patterns not automotive. I simply lined up one hole that worked and turned the bracket until I could get 2 other holes to drill. Problem solved.

by:

JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR! WORKS GREA T!

by:

I found this to be excellent product!! Not only could I put it where I wanted but it had all the wholes needed to hold my boat trailer tire for me without having to drill them myself. I bought the tire nut lock which I found not necessary because the unit has a very good lock system already built on it. Good quality steel and it will last longer than the boat will. THX Steve

I'm not sure about what this has to do with horse trailer spare tire carrier, but the unit looks good and stout. Bolt pattern for 5 on 5" didn't really line up. Not a problem as I drilled and taped it for my lug pattern. It'll be great for mounting spare tire on the side of my car trailer.

I have used several parts from etrailer over the years, and have never had any problem. they handle only the best quality and I can get hard to find products sent quickly and easily right to my house. I could not recommend a company more highly than etrailer.

by:

There is nothing wrong with the product, but it does not fit an 8-hole wheel. At least not mine. My application is a 1986 Chevy S-20 Scottsdale with 16 inch wheels............... and 8 holes. The bracket holes do not match up. I will probably file out 2 holes on the mount to allow 2 bolts to hold the wheel/tire in place.

Overall, the service was fine, just the product was not quite as advertised.

by:

Solved the problem with where to put the second spare tire on my stock trailer. Be much better if the center pin was threaded.

by:

Awfully good quality for this low price. Could not have asked for a better product for the money spent. Very satisfied with this product. Having my trailer modified for my new motorcycle. This spare tire carrier will work out nicely.

I purchased a Ford Transit and installed a lift gate. The spare tire needed to be relocated. This worked great! Mounted it on the inside.

by:

Great product and welded easily on to trailer. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting a side mount spare tire.

by:

This basic but strong spare tire mount is perfect for the outside of my toy hauler ramp door. I had it powdercoated for durability.

by:

Excellent heavy duty construction adaptable to countless situations by welding. I am welding it to a flat plate then welding the plate to the front of my trailer. Thank you etrailer for another great product, expidient delivery & excellent service!

by:

Great mount for the $$$$ I wish they offered these in 2 different depths for larger and smaller tires. I'll get a second one next order.

Folks....this company is in the top 5% of internet companies to deal with. Superlative on all fronts...VALUE, selection, information, shipping$$, shipping speed, customer service......Oh, did I mention VALUE. They have all my business.

Jeeeez....I wish the rest of the world was like these folks.

by:

What a great customer service experience!
Both
Pat and Angela provided info on the parts i needed.
I will be ordering from etrailer again!

by:

The unit is not manufactured well. It does not sit flat and I had to drill a third hole that was not in the proper place.

by:

Item exactly as described. Going to use it for the spare tire for my horse trailer.

by:

Did not use this, it would not work on the trailer i have, built well though, and if it would fit, would have used it

by:

Not really happy with carrier but was the design I needed for my purpose. No lug bolts to hold spare tire on. Didn't know it was raw steel. I will have to paint or power coat. Just extra cost but like I said it was the design I needed.
