I put off buying this because of the cost. Worth every penny! Easy to install but guys! - read the directions! Its not hard to put out/in but again- read the directions the first time and close the side door to the van before you reel it out.The awning is wonderful and adds so much usable living space to our campsite. I wish I would have purchased this right away.

We replaced our Carefree awning with the Thule manual hideaway awning on our Travato 59G. It was an easy replacement and it did not require any modifications or calibrations. Another great side of the Thule awning is you can secure the awning with tie downs which protects the awning from instant surprising wind gusts.

After 1 year of use I have discovered that service parts are not available for this awning in the USA. I broke a support leg and have been told by Thule USA to buy a complete awning if I need spare parts. This is definitely not acceptable and unexpected. Buyer beware this awning is not fully supported by Thule USA.

Product was exactly as described and arrived a day earlier than scheduled! Product is perfectly fine and functions exactly as expected. However after installing and trying it out, I wish I had spent a bit extra for a motorized awning. I was able to instal by myself as a 5’3” lady, but it was not easy to lift up on top of my 9’ van by myself. Know that you should most definitely have a second or third person to assist in installation and lifting, depending on your abilities. I often camp solo and can foresee setting up awning by myself may also pose some challenges, but is not impossible to do alone. Overall, great product, great service, and a happy addition to my Promaster DIY van build. Looking forward to having the extra shaded living space right outside my door.

Replaced the Carefree awning on our 2019 Travato with this product. Like the sleeker look of the Thule awning when closed. 4 stars was only because of a missing arm cover (refer to photos). The legs locking mechanism is kinda squirrelly so hoping there’s a fix to tighten those.

I've been on the hunt for this awning for over a year as its been out of stock. There are other options out there for the Sprinter van but this one was the best choice for my rack. You do need to purchase the mounting brackets separately, which come with different options for attaching to crossbars amd roof rails. I had some roof rail pucks laying around that I used to attach the brackets too.
This is very versatile and can be set up with the legs on the ground or with the Thule optional brackets(Purchase
separately) that attach the legs to the van..this is great if setting up on a hard surface or if you need to keep your dog on a lead and not get tangled up.the only tricky part for me is that my van is tall so once I get the awning out about 2 ft, I have to hop in the van and get the legs out- no biggie.this is very nicely made and easy to set up take down. Lots of optinal accessories as well

Its been a yr and this has held up well. I contemplated removing this for the winter, not knowing if a few snow incidents or salty roads woulld cause issue..but I still camp in my van in winter and having the awning is always a great option. * I always make sure to try to clean off the top of the awning after its been deployed due to tree debris, Inects, etc getting wrapped up when closing.

I will just email this review to you here. So far the Thule roof mount awning appears to be a 5-Star product.

Just now have it installed. This awning is very nice. It mounts tight to the roof with a foam rubber gasket to eliminate any potential rattles while driving or rain leaking in under the awning when in use. It has a low profile to minimize wind resistance while driving. The adapter kit which secures the Awning to the roof of the ProMaster Van is excellent quality and attaches quickly and securely. However, placing the awning into the adapter brackets is not as simple as the directions indicate. Once you figure out the proper procedure required(which is a bit different than the directions) it all went together nicely.

Here are a couple of pictures. from this morning's installation. Not a very nice day here so the pics are marginal.

Hopefully you received the return awning ok.

When I received the awning it had been damaged in shipment despite the extra burly packaging. It had been severely bent in the middle but instead of returning it I decided to bend it back into shape with clamps etc. I was successful for the most part, there are only some ripples in the outer shell and one of the poles doesn’t extend freely. The installation was put on hold while I did body work on the van and had it painted. Then I got injured skiing and here we are a year after the purchase and have just installed it. Of course the mounting brackets don’t fit the shape of my ‘95 Toyota hiace so I shimmed them and they seem to work well now. (photos attached)
The awning deploys easily and I am surprised how far out it extends. The poles can mount to your vehicle with the supplied brackets or go straight to the ground vertically depending on your situation. I look forward to taking it out camping to enjoy the shade.

We bought a 2019 Forest River R Pod in Sept. 2022 with no awning because the previous said it was broken and he threw it away. I called to cancel an awning that was too short on Nov. 18, 2022 and ordered the 9' 10" awning and Alyssa told me we may not get it until next summer. I received an email over a week later that our awning was shipped, and we received it Dec. 9, 2022. It was very easy to install since the camper already had the Thule bracket on the camper. The weather also cooperated with installing it! These awnings are made in England and Alyssa told me the Thule is having difficulty getting orders done and shipped. I don't know what kind of strings e-trailer pulled but I was very happy we got it in a very timely manner. Very pleased with the quality and excellent service!

After a ton of research I chose the Hideaway roof rack mount awning for my Ford Transit van conversion project. The awning was easy to mount, (did so in about 1 hour with help of my wife). I mounted my roof rack mounting brackets upside down onto my home-made roof rack and it fits beautifully.

Recommended RV Awning For A 2021 Winnebago Solis 59PX
Since your roof extends up you'll want to go with a wall mount awning like the Thule HideAway Awning # TH490011 to avoid any interference. This will come with carriage bolts and brackets to secure it to the wall of the vehicle. I do recommend picking up some butyl tape # AL28FJ to prevent any water from leaking in through the carriage bolts. Hey Chad, For an enclosed trailer I recommend the Thule HideAway Awning - Wall Mount # TH490011. This awning is super easy to extend or retract quickly with the included hand crank. It will come with brackets that you can mount directly the wall of the trailer. You'll want to pick up some butyl tape # AL28FJ on the backside of the mounting brackets for a waterproof seal. What is Width of Awning Measured From
Hello Valerie, The width of awnings like the Thule HideAway Awning # TH64WJ you mentioned is the width of the rail the fabric is attached to. So the 12' 3" wide dimension is how long that rail is, with the fabric being just a touch narrower than that. As for replacement parts, I'm not sure as I don't know what awning you have specifically, though for older awnings it's pretty you'll find things like gears as most parts are just replacement caps and the like.
