Heavy Duty 235/75R15 Off-Road Trailer Tire For A Forest River Geo Pro/ e Pro 19FD

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 10/06/2025

Question:

I have Westlake 235/75 R15 tires on my RV. I’d like to replace them with a premium off road snow ice rv tire that can better handle speed and heat too. This is for a Forest River geo pro/ e pro 19FD with an GVW of 4500lbs. Recommendations? Also do you have a 1 1/4 hitch mounted tire mount? All I see are 2”. It have a 300lb capacity hitch on the rear of the trailer. Currently the tire in underneath, hard to get to, and the mount is prone to failure. Thanks.

Hi Fred!

We have two options for off-road trailer tires in the 235/75R15 size, which I have listed below:

Kenda ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire - Load Range D # KE68JR
Westlake ST235/75R15 Radial Off-Road Trailer Tire - Load Range D # WST54FR

The Westlake is technically rated a little higher than the Kenda (2,910 lbs at 65 psi vs 2,860 lbs at 65 psi), but I still prefer the Kenda option. It has more aggressive tread and I have used Kenda products most of my life. They hold up well and typically cost a bit less that other brands. If you are wanting the best traction off-road and/or icy situations, they are the ones to get. And they have a 99 mile an hour speed rating (Q).

The spare tire carrier is a little more difficult. There are 1-1/4"hitch mounted option out there, but we do not currently carry any. I also do not know the capacity these would have. I went through about 30 websites and could not find a single one that listed it. That said, I would assume it isn't over 200 pounds as that is the most common max tongue weight capacity for a 1-1/4" hitch.

What you could do is use something like the Stromberg Carlson Trailer Tray Cargo Carrier for A-Frame Trailers - 300 lbs # CC-255. This will mount to your frame and create a carrier above your propane tanks and would allow you to carry a spare in a much more accessible location. Or if you don't mind drilling into the back wall of your camper, you could also use the Redline Spare Tire Carrier - Horse Trailer # 413200. You would have to do some custom work and make some kind of backing plate for support, but I like this one as you can really do whatever you want with it.

Or you could just use something like the 17x46 Curt Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs # C18145. It has plenty of capacity and has the added ability of carrying more stuff as well.

Out of curiosity, did that hitch come with the camper or did you add it on? Kind of odd to see that size on something like this.

Hey Fred, how did the Kenda off-road tires work out on your Geo Pro? I’m curious if they gave you the traction and heat handling you were looking for. Your update could make it easier for others upgrading their RV tires for mixed conditions.
