Question:
I need to mount manual winch inside cargo trailer to winch up a harley. What should I use in order to be able to turn handle completely around as I bring up bike and insure the winch is stable. Suggestions appreciated

You would need to consult a qualified welder to have a mount fabricated that will allow you rotate the handle 360 degrees on a hand winch. We do not stock any bolt on parts that are heavy enough to be used to mount a winch safely in this case, and you would need to tie the mount into the trailer frame for stability. We have a Universal Hand Winch Right Angle Mounting Bracket, item # DL24110, which would make the fabrication of the raised mount easier.
An option I would look at, would be to use a Loop Drive winch like the Dutton-Lainson Worm Gear Hand Winch with Loop Drive, item # DL10954, this winch can be mounted directly to the trailer framing and a 1/2 inch variable speed drill can be used for operation. You could also fit a speed handle style handle to operate the winch manually. The drill would be the best way to go with the 30 to 1 gear ration of this winch. You would also need cable for this winch, the Winch Cable and Hook 1/4 inch Diameter x 50 foot Long, item # DL24104, is the recommended cable for this winch up to 2,000 lbs. This option would not require fabricating a winch mount or wiring a battery inc the trailer.
An electric winch, like the Superwinch LT2000 Electric Utility Winch, 2,000 lbs, item # 1120210, is another possibility. I recommend this because if you are loading a motorcycle in the trailer, you would have to have two people to operate the manual winch and guide the motorcycle to the correct position in the trailer and the person operating the hand winch would not be able to help stabilize the motorcycle. With the 8 foot remote on the hand held controller, the operator would be able to assist with loading somewhat and there would be no need for a mount to attach the winch to to allow the handle to turn 360 Degrees. Of course wiring and/or a battery will be needed to power the winch.
