Features to know about

Controls Towing Right from Your Phone: Bluetooth and OneControl App

Forget bulky controllers and cluttered dashes. The Curt Echo under-dash unit hides away beneath your dashboard and connects to your phone through Bluetooth. Using the OneControl app, you can adjust braking output, tweak sensitivity, and hit the manual override right from your screen. The app also shows how much power is going to your trailer brakes in real time. Once it’s paired—about five seconds—you can save profiles for up to 4 trailer axles and get towing instantly, all without splicing a single wire.

Keeps Your Cab Clean: Compact Under-Dash Mount

No more banging your knee on a big controller box. This unit measures only 3-3/8" long x 3" wide x 7/8" thick and mounts neatly under the dash using the included adhesive pad or zip ties. It stays completely out of sight while still giving you full control through your smartphone. Thanks to its 3-axis accelerometer, it can be mounted at any angle and still sense direction of travel correctly, keeping your trailer braking smooth and even.

Delivers Smooth, Confident Stops: Proportional Braking Technology

With proportional control, your trailer brakes match how you brake—light pressure for gentle stops or hard braking when you need it. The built-in accelerometer measures motion and automatically applies the right amount of power for trailers with 1 to 4 axles (8 brake assemblies). It works with electric trailer brakes, so every stop feels steady and predictable.

Makes Setup Simple: Plug-and-Play Harness with Smart Protection

You don’t need to cut or splice anything. The included custom harness plugs directly into your factory port under the dash and then into the Echo module. Built-in safety features like reverse polarity and short circuit protection keep everything running reliably. Once connected, LEDs on the main unit help with quick troubleshooting so you can confirm status at a glance.

Ready for Multiple Trailers: Saves Profiles in the App

If you tow different rigs, the Echo makes switching easy. Save multiple trailer profiles in the OneControl app so each one has its own max output and sensitivity levels ready to go. Just swipe to select, hook up, and tow—no recalibrating every time. It’s a clean, wireless setup made for anyone who wants smart control without extra clutter in the cab.

  • 4. Sensitivity Level: This controls the aggressiveness of your trailer's braking, meaning how quickly the brakes reach the max output level.

  • Compatibility note: This brake controller is not compatible, but will not interfere, with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
  • Installation kit: If you don’t already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle, take a look at our exclusive 7- and 4-way brake controller installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately).

What is Proportional Braking?

Proportional braking means that your trailer brakes mimic your tow vehicle's brakes. If you slam on the brakes in your vehicle, your trailer brakes will activate with the same intensity; if you brake lightly, your trailer brakes lightly too. The trailer's braking is in proportion to your vehicle's braking. This saves wear and tear on the tires and the brakes on both your vehicle and trailer.

Was not aware this device draws on the battery constantly. I don't daily drive my truck and have had to replace the battery twice in one month due to being drained below the point where they could be recharged. $[XX] later and this controller removed, I've not had any problems with the battery

by: Bill09/12/2022

The directions on this item are horrible. I finally figured it out and was able to install it onto my Ram 1500, but only after spending hours trying to make everything fit right. If you're looking for a hitch setup to pull a trailer long distances, I would advise you to look at other options. This will work for my short trips with my half-ton pickup, but I would not want to pull anything more than 50 miles with this setup.

by: Scott09/18/2022

This brake controller has to be unplugged when not in use or it drains the battery in a few days. I had to have a electrical test done in my vehicle ($XXX). The etrailer tech said the test was done incorrectly. The Chevy dealer claims it was accurate. I’m left with a problem.

by: Earl 08/21/2023

Needed a brake controller I could rely on because I was pulling my camper to a site at the top of a 25% grade within a few days. Unit plugged right into the harness for the factory brake controller (with the adapter cable) on my 2014 Ford F-150,and worked perfectly. Bluetooth connectivity works through the app (rather than through the phone's "settings" icon),and connects instantly. I'm very pleased with this product.

I ordered a Curt Discovery trailer brake controller. Exactly what I was looking for and for a great price. Transaction was smooth and easy and the controller arrived within a reasonable amount of time. I liked the parcel tracking that showed the progress of my order.

by: David C05/17/2014

I used this connector with a new brake controller that I also purchased. It was very easy to connect to the controller & truck's electrical system (under the driver's side dash). So far it's working beautifully.

As always, etrailer was excellent with their advice, shipping, and follow-up emails. I have had great experiences with them since 2010.

I ordered the Curt TriFlex trailer brake controller. Had to return the first one, due to the manual brake activation lever being sloppy loose. They replaced it with no hassle. It looks cheap but works good so far

by: Robert A.04/21/2017

My 07' Dodge Ram Quad Cab had a factory installed receiver hitch and therefore the plug to which this cable attached. However, I had to go to the Curt mfg website to find a picture of the actual truck plug. Once I found the plug which was buried up in a difficult spot to reach, the cable snapped in easily. It is sufficiently long enough to reach the controller cable if one installs the controller anywhere on the knee panel below the steering wheel.

As first time truck and pop-up trailer users, we initially purchased a cheaper brake controller that required drilling the dash. This is a new truck, so we decided to switch and spend more for the Bluetooth. etrailer was easy to work with for a return, and the Bluetooth brake controller is fantastic - so easy to use with our new trailer!

by: Chris 08/20/2022

I really wanted a trailer brake controller that I didn’t have to stick an ugly knob/box hanging off my dash. This was my solution and it works perfectly. Plugged right into my Honda Ridgeline existing plug, and easily connected to the app on my phone. Nice setup.

by: Michael 04/05/2023

Easiest install ever !
Plug and play.
App is easy understand and use.
My favorite is with the app and on selected active profile you can see the amount of brake amount is being applied to the trailer when the vehicle brakes are applied. I also install the manual override button. FYI: you don’t need the app on your phone open for the controller or the manual override button to work. Also another nice feature of the manual override button is the size about the size of a quarter, uses a CR2032 battery and the battery level is displayed in the app.

by: Paul08/29/2022

I was looking for a trailer brake controller that did not require a permanent mounting to the dash or center console of my 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. I initially considered the wireless bluetooth controller from Curt Echo that plugs directly into the 7-pin outlet next to the tow hitch. However, reviews from individuals that tow RV trailers identified that particular option prevents the 12v battery on the trailer from charging off of the TV while connected. This would limit the RV utilization during long trips involving boondocking.
The Curt Echo under-dash controller seems to solve that problem and uses the same user interface as the Curt Echo.
Easy to install and operate; problem solved!

Used in conjunction with the Curt brake controller I purchased from etrailer.
Worked perfectly.

Works fine No reliability issues, worry free.

by: James 12/19/2023

This was relatively easy to install under the dash of our 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, especially since ours has the factory Trailer Tow Package and therefore an existing pigtail connector ready to connect to the brake controller. The Curt wiring adapter made it super easy to connect the Brake Controller to the vehicle's wiring harness. The controller was easy to calibrate and worked seamlessly while we're towing a rented trailer. We used a dedicated (older) cell phone to operate it while we're towing to avoid any potential interference from other apps rather than using our regular phone on which we receive phone calls texts, etc. This was our first time towing a trailer and this easy-to-use Brake Controller helped make us feel safe and comfortable. Highly recommended.

by: Micah07/18/2022

2006 Dodge Ram. Easy install. Plug it in and tie up the wires. I put a wire protector sleeve to cover the wires coming out of the controller.

by: Mike D07/16/2016

I needed an electric brake control for my 2006 Dodge pickup but was having trouble finding one locally that would plug in to the factory installed plug. If it was a Chev or Ford it was in stock and I didn't want a universal that would have to cut into the wiring. I called etrailer to make sure what I saw on their website was correct and they assured me it was so I ordered it. It arrived, I instaled it and it works perfect.

Still working fine.

by: Matthew 11/25/2023

The break controller worked seamlessly. Profiles are easy to set up and it has very reliable Bluetooth connectivity with my phone. Installation was really easy on my Honda Pilot!

by: Jeff M09/25/2017

In hind sight I probably didn't need to order this item. Forgetting how difficult it was to access the connector on my Dodge Ram when I installed my first (now defunct) brake controller, I imagine it will be a greater struggle to get it to disconnect before putting the new one on. So I think what I'll do is cut the Dodge specific connector off the one end, cut the wires off my old controller and splice this pigtail into it, thus eliminating the need to remove the old connector!

My splice job worked as planned however I no longer own that vehicle.

by: Alan03/12/2024

Do not buy either the Curt Under-Dash or plug-in Wireless brake controllers until Lippert fixes the phone app. I’ve used both happily with the old ECHO Smart Control app. I could use the remote manual button with the phone app not even running. As one would reasonably expect the button talked to the controller directly via Bluetooth. The new OneControl Auto app must be running and in the foreground to use the manual remote! And the most recent version of ECHO Smart Control is non-functional, it just tells you to install OneControl Auto.

by: David H07/31/2017

I ordered a fifth wheel brackets and hitch along with curt brake controller and pigtail. Everything fit great with no problems and the service and shipping was very speedy. Highly recommend etrailer for all your needs.

by: Jay L04/04/2014

Trailer control shipped quickly, super easy install with the pigtail. Happy customer!

by: Steve T.06/18/2016

Perfect fit for my 1999 Dodge Ram. it made installation of the brake controller super easy. I highly recommend paying the extra $** for this item.

by: Thomas08/09/2023

It does not fit my vehicle. On the attached photo the connector on the left is the stock dodge plug, the plug on the right is what I just got

Hmm...youll be looking for another white plug like the white harness. Do you know if your truck for sure has the factory tow package?

by: Robert J. 07/15/2018

This item easily plugged into my Curt brake controller and into my truck’s factory plug. Made for a less than 5 minute install; powering up the brake controller with no issues. Convenient is an understatement with this pigtail. Rig is 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 CTD.

by: Kory K03/18/2014

Sorry for the late follow-up. I just wanted to let you know that the brake
controller and wiring harness I purchased through eTrailer worked very well
with my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins 6.7L diesel. Pictures are
attached for your use, as required.

The trailer was an 18-foot enclosed snow machine tailer with a steel
chassis. I can't remember the empty weight, but it's substantial. We towed
empty and full on dry and snow covered roads from Oklahoma to Colorado and
back. Even with th exhaust brake on my truck, I can't imagine towing this
load through the hills and mountains without a brake controller. It's been
done before, but I would say it's an unnecessary risk given the more than
reasonable prices at eTrailer...it was cheap insurance pulling such a heavy
rig with my family on board.

The controller was definitely not your top-of-the-line model, but the
adjustability and controls were more than adequate for somebody who tows
occasionally. A professional may desire more proportional controls and
adjustability, but not much more. This unit peformed flawlessly.

Thank you for your time. Please feel free to contct me if you would like
any clarification on my statements or pictures.

  • Wiring Brake Controller to Under Dash Wiring of 2021 Ford Ranger
We had the chance to install a brake controller in a similar Ranger as your 2021 model and when using standard brake controller wiring like with the # C51515 to install the Curt Echo Mobile # C27JR the yellow/orange goes to the black wire, the blue wire is going to go to the blue wire, the white wire is going to go to the white wire, and the violet with white stripe goes to the red wire.

For a basic but great brake controller the Brake EVN # TK63VR would work well in your 2013 Nissan Frontier. It would install to the factory wiring of your vehicle with the part # 3050-P which plugs in under the dash. It comes with hardware to easily attach to the console as well. For a brake controller with an even smaller foot print that installs with just a small knob on the dash of the vehicle the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty part # RED24FR would be a great option that would install with...

  • Where is Brake Controller Adapter Plug Located In 2002 Dodge Ram Pickup
The green connector in your truck is not the correct plug. It is normally a blue plug like what I have shown in the photo that plugs into the adapter part # C51332 if you are using a Curt brake controller like part # C51170. There will be a port to plug into if the truck came with a factory 7-way plug just to the right of the emergency brake. If the 7-way plug was installed after-market, you will need to see how far the wires from the plug are extended so you can complete the install...

The troubleshooting guide included in the instructions for the Curt Discovery Brake Controller # C84VV that you referenced does not include this particular display issue, a flashing 0.0, among the possible display messages. My technical contact at Curt has never seen this particular message displayed on a Discovery brake controller. He suggested that either the display is malfunctioning or the controller is bad. Since your brakes are not engaging when you press the pedal with the trailer...

  • Choosing Between Curt TriFlex and Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controllers
Hi Dan; this is a pretty easy choice, I would definitely pick the P3 over the Curt TriFlex # C43GV. The P3 wins for reliability alone, and it has more features. The only real advantage with the TriFlex is the lower cost. However, right now the P3 isn't available, and Tekonsha is for sale. We don't know what the future holds for the brand, and I you probably won't be able to get warranty support if you need it. For an equally reliable brake controller I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty...

  • Do Brake Controllers have Constant Power or Do they Wire Into a Ignition/Accessory Power Source
Brake controllers such as # C74VV will have constant power once installed. They need to have constant power otherwise they would reset every time you turned off the vehicle. Brake controllers have what is basically a sleep mode. After a certain amount of time the "go to sleep" and draw only a few milliamps of power so they will not drain the vehicle battery. If your 2007 Dodge Ram did not come with a factory 7-Way trailer connector then you will also need wiring harness # C51515 for the...

  • Best Brake Controller For 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 With Bumper Pull Camper
First off, the proportional brake controllers are definitely recommended for a situation like this. They provide better response so they are safer, and also have less wear and tear on your trailer's brakes since they apply braking pressure equal to your vehicle's braking. For your 2005 Ram 3500, I recommend the Curt TriFlex # C24VV with adapter # C51332. Curt is a very trustworthy and reliable brand, and this controller is one of the most reliable controllers on the market. It is good for...

We do appreciate your continued patronage and I think we can assist you with this. If you can't find the plug and the dealer doesn't offer any help on this, then you can hard wire in the controller to your 1997 Ram 1500, so you will be able to install the controller it'll just be a bit more time consuming. • Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller Installation in 2006 Dodge Ram 2500
Any trailer brake controller, including the Curt Venturer # C74VV, uses a 4-wire hookup. All brands and models of trailer brake controller have a white ground wire, a black 12V power wire, a red input signal wire and a blue output wire. The white ground wire connects to battery negative; the black power wire connect to the battery + terminal through a 30-amp circuit breaker or fuse; the red input signal wire connects to the cold side of the brake light switch above the brake pedal; and...

  • How to Find the Stop Light Wire on a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500
I do have an option for you but unfortunately, we would not have access to the wiring diagram for a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500. In order to find the cold side of the brake pedal which is the wire that will need to be spliced into to install a brake controller, you would need to test each wire with a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 for the wire that only receives power while the pedal is depressed. Once you find this wire you can use a quick splice connector like part # SWC501746-1 to avoid...

  • What Is The Blue Connector For In The Glove Box Of The Ram 2500
I will be happy to explain how why the blue plug would not be installed in the wiring bundle. The blue plug is an adapter that's used to install an after-market brake controller. When installing a brake controller vehicles sometimes already have a plug and play connection under the dash. A plug and play connection is a connection that does not require the brake controller to be hardwired to the vehicle. Some brake controllers like # 90195 will need a plug or adapter like you have the #...

The price for the Venturer controller part # C74VV and install harness part # C51332 is tough to beat but a proportional brake controller will be a much better option.
