Recommended Trailer Brake Controller For a 2022 Ram 2500

Question:

Hi I have a 22 ram 2500 Im looking at trailer brake Controllers and looking for some advice. I plan on tow a 5th Wheel camper 38ft 2 axles about 14000lbs. Should I go with the factory kits that are online or after market something like the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty 2 axle or Curt Echo. Seems that the Curt Echo is the easiest. What would you recommend. I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED44FR for your 2022 Ram 2500. This will connect with the Plug and Play Wiring Harness # 331-TPH-020 to the under dash connector. I prefer this controller over the Curt Echo # C27JR with the Adapter # C51458 and factory options as it gives you more adjustability and is easily controlled with the dash mounted control knob.

While the Curt is easy to install you have to control everything from your smart phone including adjusting braking force. The Factory controller will also require reprogramming your ECU and if you remove the controller you must have your ECU reprogrammed to remove the controller. The Redarc Elite allows you to switch from either a proportional controller to a user controlled controller which allows you to more precisely adjust the braking sent to the trailer. While the Liberty # RED24FR is also a great controller it only allows you to use it in proportional mode.
