Question:

If I get the plug and play adapter wiring to fit my truck will it plug into most brake controllers? the plugs look the same on a lot of controllers, I didnt know if they were universal.

Hello Ed.

Brake controller wiring harness # 3020-P for the 2004 Dodge Ram will work with Tekonsha, Draw-Tite, and Reese brake controllers that have a plug and not just loose wires.

Curt harness # C51332 will work only with Curt brake controllers. And as far as I could ascertain Hayes harness # HA81782-HBC only works with Hayes controllers. All of these harnesses are also only for controllers that have the plug on them and not just loose wires.

Another option, for controllers that do have loose wires but no plug, is # 7894. It has the vehicle specific connector on one side and loose wires on the other that will splice to brake controller wiring color for color regardless of the controller brand.
