Location of Brake Controller Port on 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe

Question:

Hello - I have a 2023 Jeep GC 4xe and non-tow pckg - just bought a Curt Echo under-dash with harness last week, but I am having trouble finding the exact location of the controller port. Any hints please? BTW I have an after-market u-haul installed Tow kit with complete 7 prong wiring fitted.

Hi Robert; it looks like your 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe doesn't have a brake controller port since you don't have the tow package. This means hard wiring the # C27JR is your only option for installation. If have a plug and play wiring harness I would return it to whoever you bought it from.

Thanks Robin - follow up question: what's your recommendation please for the lowest price is/most reliable (non-bluetooth) Brake controller for my Jeep GC 4xe (after-market hitch w/7-prong installed). I'm not gonna go with a Curt Echo type & want the "wired -in" proportional BC - dash control switch version please. Also - do I need additional wiring for the BC, even though the 7-pront connection is installed?

@RobertM price and reliability are a tough thing to balance. On the lower end I would say the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 is your best option. If you still want something that won't take up space like the Echo then I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR instead. The price is going to be higher (not nearly as high as the Echo above) but you're going to get a really simple and reliable brake controller. Also, the main unit installs behind the dash so only the control knob is visible. Both of these come with everything you need for installation.
