I have a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe with aftermarket 4 pin trailer light connection. I would like to add a trailer brake controller. What is the simplest way to do this? Thanks, Dan

Hello Dan, thanks for reaching out. The best way to add a 7-way and brake controller to your 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe with an aftermarket 4-pin is by using the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7. This kit contains everything you need to upgrade the 4-flat to a 7-way, including all of the necessary wires for a brake controller.

For the brake controller, the Tekonsha P3 # 90195 is what I recommend. It is easy to use and reliable. You can wire it in using the included universal pigtail.

What kind of trailer will you be towing.

Hey Dan, did you get a chance to install the Universal Installation Kit and the Tekonsha P3 brake controller on your Hyundai Santa Fe? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you and if it made towing your trailer easier. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help!

Hey Jesse, I also have a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. I am towing an 2021 forest river Salem FSX 178BHSK. I just can't wait for the parts mentioned above. Anything I can get in the next few days?

@Nathan You are needing to add a 7-way and brake controller, correct? Is yours the SE, Limited, or Sport model? Do you have any factory or aftermarket trailer plug currently? We can provide the parts you need, and we offer 1 day shipping on most items.

@JesseM I have a limited ultimate. I have a 4-pin on it now. yes I need to go from 4 to 7 with a brake controller. I see you carry a brake controller that works via Bluetooth. is that a viable option for me?

@Nathan Yes! A Bluetooth controller is definitely an option. The Curt Echo, for example would be a great option. We actually make a kit specifically for this purpose; upgrading a 4-falt to and 7-way with a wireless brake controller. Here is what you will need: - 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 12 Gauge Wires # ETBC7L - Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller - 7-Way Plug-in w/ Bluetooth App - Up to 2 Axles - Proportional # C51180
