Question:
Is this all I need for a 2005 Dakota

If your 2005 Dodge Dakota has the factory 7-Way then you need the Custom Wiring Adapter # C51332 to install the Curt Venturer # C74VV. Sure you can hardwire it but this gives you a great way to easily connect and disconnect the controller without having to install it permanently.
Same thing if you don't have the factory 7-Way. You will need the Universal Adapter # C51515 to avoid splicing the controller directly into your vehicle wiring. This adapter does require splicing but the end with the connector plugs directly into the Curt controller. This gives you the option to quickly and conveniently remove the controller if the need arises. You also need to make sure you have the appropriate wiring, like part # 118323 and # ETBC7, for a fully functioning 7-Way in this situation.
