Video Transcript for Redarc Tow-Pro Wiring Adapter for Tekonsha Brake Controller Harness Review

Brad Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at Etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the Redarc to Tekonsha wiring adapter for your brake controller. The Tow-Pro Elite is a great system, but unfortunately the downside of Redarc is, they don't have a lot of vehicles specific clips, and so you're left with having to tie these into the wiring on the vehicle. I'm not a huge fan of making connections. If there is a plug and play option available, and that's where this comes into play. Now, this plugs into a Tekonsha plug that goes to our factory clip.

So what they did is they've made this little piggyback adapter here that goes from the Tow-Pro Elite module to the Tekonsha wiring that goes to the factory style plug. And Tekonsha has quite a wide variety of different vehicles. So you generally can find something that's specific to the clips on your vehicle to make it nice and easy. And instead of designing their own for each vehicle specific they just use the Tekonsha, and then this little plug goes into that adapter, making it nice and easy and not having to splice wires. So to get this to work for your specific vehicle, you wanna use our fit guide on the website to determine the Tekonsha wire that you'll need for your vehicle, and then you can simply get this adapter to the Tekonsha and you're gonna be good to go.

In conjunction with that Tekonsha wiring, you can see, we we're able to plug into our factory wiring on the vehicle, no tools required. And that was a look at the Redarc to Tekonsha wiring adapter for your Tow Pro..

Redarc Tow-Pro Wiring Adapter for Tekonsha Brake Controller Harness - 331-TPH-017

Average Customer Rating:  4.8 out of 5 stars   (83 Customer Reviews)

Wiring adapter lets you easily connect your Redarc Tow-Pro electric brake controller (sold separately) to your existing Tekonsha brake controller wiring harness. No need to remove your existing wiring harness. Allows for easy, plug-and-play install.

The reason for the average rating is shipping. I requested expided shipping as we were leaving on our adventure. If I knew that wasn't available I would have cancled the order and sourced these parts elsewhere. You made your sale and I'm stuck making other arrangements. Your system is not flexable as I tried to change shipping address or pick up in person. All a solid NO.

Worked well, plug and play.

by:

Did exactly what I needed it to do, and it arrived quickly. A little ridiculous that there's no direct adapter to plug the Tow-Pro into my 2024 Subaru Ascent. I have to convert Tow-Pro to Tekonsha, and Tekonsha to Subaru, but it seems to work fine, and that's not etrailer's fault.

by:

The Redarc Tow-Pro Wiring Adapter for Tekonsha Brake Controller Harness made my Redarc install easier.

by:

Hardest part was trying not to sweat to death in the SC heat. This was super easy to install once I located the receptacle on the car itself.

by:

Was not able to use this adapter due to distance from fuse block to mounting point. Cable could have been 24 inches longer.

We ordered this product on June 29th and paid for next day shipping to get it before we left for vacation. We were told it would be delivered on July 5th the day before were to leave. I kept checking the progress and saw no activity until July 4th, a holiday! The package didn't get pickup by for shipping until the 5th. The tracking said though that it would be delivered by 12pm on the 6th. So we waited and it didn't come! We had to leave and luckily our friends were leaving the next day and brought it with them so we could have a trailer brake. I will be contacting the company for a refund on the shipping because we were told the item would go out the day we bought it and that we get it on July 5th. Neither of those happened. On the bright side the trailer brake worked great.

Excellent job and performance

by:

This brake controller worked well in our 2020 Suburu Ascent. Modified the blank switch plug under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. This took a little time to ream out with a dremel type tool, but the controller know fit in and worked well (youtube videos can be found for this).

by:

This is totally not necessary. The Redarc gives you a plug that fits. It follows the same color code as the Tekonsha harness. It will be a simple 2 minute splice job. I will be splicing the harnesses instead of using this. The wires used in the adapter are smaller that those used in either the Redarc or Tekonsha harnesses use. Although it was built fine, it is a waste of money.

Thank you for your review. This Redarc Tow-Pro Wiring Adapter for Tekonsha Brake Controller Harness is designed so that you will not need to splice wires when installing the brake controller.

by:

Works as advertised.

by:

Just What I needed to connect my Redarc Tow-Pro to my vehicle.

by:

Was saddened to see that this product was delayed by shipping whether at etrailers facility or with the USPS. It was delayed more than 4 days causing me to purchase from camping world at a higher cost in order to meet my departure schedule. Not a happy customer.

by:

This adapter coupled with a Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter (Item #3062-P) worked as advertised to connect my 2022 Subaru Ascent with the factory tow package to a Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller (Item #RED44FR). Just wish I didn't need the non-Redarc adapter in addition to this to finish the project.

by:

Great controller

by:

Made wiring up the brake controller a whole lot easier.

by:

Exactly what we were looking for.

by:

This made the brake controller truly plug and play.

by:

The 331-TPH-017 connection converter worked as advertised to easily and quickly convert my JT's Mopar connector over to the Redarc connector.

by:

received adapter with harness wire and installed in 2021 jeep grand Cherokee limited with factory installed tow package. Everything connected.

by:

Works great and was pretty easy to install. eTrailer support helped ensure I had all the right parts.

by:

Easy to install saves having to replace existing wiring

by:

Madre the installation so much easier!

by:

Easy install

by:

Fast shipping, works great with a Gladiator and an Airstream.

by:

  • Comparing Redarc Liberty and Curt Spectrum Brake Controllers For a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500
Personally, I have seen a lot fewer issues with the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR than with the Curt Spectrum # C51170. The Spectrum was released in early 2018. Currently Redarc only offers the one size control knob. To install the Redarc Liberty # RED24FR in your 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 you will need the Tekonsha Pigtail # 3064-P and the Redarc to Tekonsha Adapter # 331-TPH-017. This will support up to 2 braking axles or 4 brake assemblies. If you go with the Curt Spectrum # C51170...

To add a brake controller you will need two separate wiring harnesses because you will need to add a 7-way to plug the trailer into.
