E16 5th Wheel Jaw

Simple, Secure Hookup

With a dual-pivoting head that offers 10 degrees of lateral movement, the E16 fifth-wheel hitch makes hookup a snap, even on unlevel ground. Once the king pin slides into the hitch, the auto-locking, slide-bar jaw secures it in place. A unique feature of the E16 is the rear steel tension bar within the jaw that activates upon hookup to clamp down on the king pin, providing a tighter grip that maximizes security and minimizes rattle.

Non-Binding S20 Slider

Specially designed for trucks with 6' to 8' beds, this non-binding slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Video Transcript for Replacement Head Unit for Curt E16 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Review

Hey guys, this is Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be going over the CURT E16 replacement 5th wheel head. This is designed to replace your E16 5th wheel head. If you've already got one and you're wanting to replace it. If it got damage or if it's old and rusty this is gonna be a perfect fit. It's also gonna come with the replacement bracket.

If you'd like to swap out the head on the S20 which is their new slider base, you can put this in, mount it to the correct height and then put this hitch head right in the top of it. You are gonna get all the replacement parts that initially come with the kit so you'll get new hardware, new pins, a new handle, and this bracket. The best way to get this set up inside the S20 base is to set your head height with the bracket first and then set the head on top of it. Now with our new hardware, we can set the height of our hitch a lot easier than a lot of other hitches out there. A lot of 'em are gonna have to set it with the head attached but this bracket only weighs about 10 pounds so it's really easy to get it in place.

Now to get your new head in place, it's as simple as setting it on top of the bracket. And again, it will come with two new pins. And that's, I think that's kind of nice 'cause when you're replacing you know, new parts you'd like to put new hardware in too 'cause chances are these are gonna be pretty wore out. So some of the reasons why you would need to replace your 5th wheel head is if it's got a lot of rust on it it's gonna start to affect the integrity of the strength of the hitch itself. So if it's got too much rust you might think about replacing it.

If you've not been using enough grease or any grease at all this head can start to score and once it starts scoring you can't really go back 'cause it needs a smooth surface to slide on your kingpin base. Another reason is your grease gets dirty that can cause scoring. If you're not using a lube plate. There's a lot of different reasons of why you would need to replace this head. If your mechanism isn't working correctly anymore.

But it's good to know that you can just replace the head. But with that being said, a lot of people what they'll do is they'll, if they have an A16 or an E16 head and they have the traditional base but they get a new vehicle and they'd like to switch to the slider, you can keep your old head, get the slider, and then later on you can replace the head. So there's several different options and reasons of why you would need a new E16 head. Well, with all that being said, we've got it all installed it's ready to go, and it's ready for our next trip.

  • Parts Needed For Towing a 5TH Wheel Camper Behind a 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty
First you will want to install a set of 5th wheel rails using the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16443-204 on your 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty 4wd. This kit includes custom mounting brackets which greatly reduces any drilling required on the frame as well as the in bed rails to accept a hitch. You will need either a Slider # 16516 5th wheel hitch if he has a short bed truck or a Fixed # C16115 5th wheel hitch if he has a long bed truck. Both these hitches are rated for trailers...

We have what you need and it will work with both hitches. You will not need to change the above bed rails for your 1999 Ford F-350 Super Duty if you install ISR (Industry Standard Rails) which pretty much the only currently available option. Any hitch made in recent years by a major brand will be ISR except for those made specifically for the respective OEM puck systems. ISR is named so because they are the most popular pattern so are now referred to as the "industry standard." Industry...

  • 5TH Wheel Rail Kit For a 2000 Ford F-250 Short Bed To Accept a B&W Patriot 5TH Wheel Hitch
I recommend installing the Curt 5TH Wheel Rails # C16443-204 on your 2000 Ford F-250. Currently B&W only goes back to 2005 for their custom under bed brackets. For your 2000 F-250 you would have to use the B&W Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit # BWRVR3200 to stay with B&W rails and under bed brackets. These underbed brackets are universal so you will have to drill the frame to use this kit. The Curt # C16443-204 rails are custom fit so you will not have to drill your frame. They...

Yes, you can install the Curt Q24 5th wheel trailer hitch # C16546 in your 2004 Ford F-350. But since you have a long bed you would not need a slider hitch. You would instead use the fixed version # C16245. But, if you still want to use the slider version you can but there won't be a need to slide it back out of the towing position. Also, sliders only lock into the towing position or the maneuvering position, there are no settings in between. For an installation kit I recommend # C16443-204...

  • Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit Recommendation for a 1999 Ford F-250
Actually the Curt fifth wheel bracket kit you would need is the part # C16443. The # C16448 that you referenced is not compatible with your truck so I would not recommend it for you. If you needed rails as well you would want the part # C16204 for just the rails or part # C16443-204 to order a kit that includes both.

  • Curt A16 Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2000 Ford F-350
The Curt A16 fifth wheel hitch part # C16120 is a really solid hitch. It's very easy to use, has a wide height range, has a pivoting head, and a jaw design that holds the king pin tightly. You get a lot of hitch for the money with this which is also really great since it's not too expensive. Then for a rail kit a custom kit like part # C16443-204 is the way to go as it will minimize drilling and install time.

You would need to go with a slider hitch like the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR. For a rail kit you will want to go with a custom install kit like the part # RP56001-53 which will install in about half the...

  • Base Rails and Installation Kit Recommendation for 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty
You can easily mount a fifth wheel hitch in your 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty and to do that I strongly recommend the B&W Custom 5th Wheel Installation Kit for Ford # BWRVK2402 because they do not require any drilling into your truck's frame to install and include galvanic isolators that are going to prevent corrosion in your Ford's aluminum bed. Not having to drill into your truck's frame is not only good for your truck but also reduces the amount of time it takes to install the rails....

  • Recommended Reese Sliding Hitch for 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty
I recommend going with the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR for your 2020 Ford F-250 with a short bed. This hitch will provide you with the needed clearance from the cab of the truck to assist when making sharp turns while towing your 5th wheel trailer. Since you don't have the OEM prep package, you'll need base rails # RP50074-58, which are a custom installation base rail kit designed specifically for Ford Super Duty trucks and will allow you to use the Curt # C95DR. For...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 GMC Sierra Denali 3500 Crew Cab with 6-1/2 foot bed
I checked with Reese and you are correct, the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Outboard Installation Kit # RP56001-53 that you referenced is the correct install kit for your 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 with a 6-1/2 foot bed. Since you have a short bed truck you will need a slider hitch, for that I recommend the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR.

In order to install the Reese Universal Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # RP58058 on your 2019 Ford F-150 you will need to use the Reese Quick-Install Custom Bracket Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # RP50087. These brackets are a custom fit for your F-150 which means no drilling into the frame is required. I have attached an install video for you on this very same kit. If you don't already have a 5th wheel hitch then I recommend taking a look at the Curt E16 5th Wheel...

  • How to Choose 5th Wheel Hitch Height for a 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500
The crossmember for your Reese 30031-14K 5th wheel hitch resembles the part # RP58147 on our site. To determine which of the 4 height adjustment options you need to choose for your 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 really just depends on the height of the king pin on your 5th wheel trailer and where everything needs to be for your trailer to be level. This applies to any 5th wheel hitch/5th wheel trailer towing setup out there. How you choose the correct setting is by parking your Chevy and 5th...

  • Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch to Replace Older Hitch
That hitch head won't work on the old Reese hitch you have, so you can still upgrade your sliding 5th wheel hitch, but it will need to be a new hitch. The best option for that is the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR.

  • Can Curt 16k Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch Be Used in 2018 Ram 1500 6-1/2 foot Bed
Yes, your 2018 Ram 1500 can use the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR, and you'd also need the custom install rail kit part # RP50142-58. Since your truck bed is 6 foot 4 inches (we round it to 6-1/2 feet) the slider hitch that comes with this would work well. It's the beds shorter than 6 feet that need more clearance that this slider hitch could provide. Custom install rail kits are the way to go anyway as they minimize install time and drilling. You'll also need...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch and Install Kit Recommendation for a 2014 Ram 1500
From the research I did it looks like the 2014 Ram 1500 has a towing capacity range of 4,500 lbs all the way up to 8,500 lbs. You will want to check your vehicle owners manual to determine exactly what your capacity is. I would imagine yours is on the higher end of 8,500 lbs based on the options you listed. For a fifth wheel install kit you would want a custom install kit like the part # RP50142-58 that would install in about half the time as a universal kit and would minimize drilling. If...

Absolutely, the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR that you referenced would be an excellent choice for a slider hitch. The Reese rail kit part # RP50066-58 that you referenced would also be an excellent choice for a rail kit. This is a custom install kit that will install in about half the time as a universal kit and will minimize drilling.

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for 2017 Ford F-250 Short Bed
For your 2017 Ford F-250 without the factory rail kit I'd recommend the Reese custom install kit part # RP50074-58 as this won't require any frame drilling like a universal style kit would. This is especially nice for if your plan is to eventually up grade to an underbed kit. Then for a hitch the Curt 16k slider part # C95DR is priced well and has a jaw design that wraps around the king pin to minimize noise and movement.
