Notes:

  • Due to the size of this item, it ships via freight.
  • This fifth-wheel trailer hitch is not compatible with Sidewinder or Revolution king pins. Do not use any device that changes the pivot point of your trailer's king pin with this hitch.

Quiet, Secure Ride

The 1" thick jaw on the Companion is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

B&W Companion Bushings

In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Companion has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on a padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.

Non-Binding Latch Handle

The dual jaw on the Companion is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.

The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".

Built-In Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, a slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

The slider that is built into the base of the Companion allows for 12" of fore and aft travel to give you the clearance you need.

Installation of the B&W Companion OEM Slider

To install the Companion OEM, first set up the Companion's pivot arms. The arms are what allow the hitch to be adjusted front to back as well as up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can accommodate the height of your trailer and also help to give you some additional cab clearance.

To adjust either the height of the hitch or the fore/aft positioning, just attach the hitch's pivot arms in the desired location on the base.

B&W Companion OEM Ram Feet

Then, when the hitch head is fully assembled, simply place the hitch in the bed of your truck, lining the base up with the receiver sockets in the bed. Rotate all 4 handles on the hitch base out so that the built-in puck receivers are in the correct position to install in the sockets. Once the base is lined up, fold the handles in until they are in the locked position and secure them with the included pins.

The hitch head installs on top of the pivot arms. When you have the head in position, simply secure it to the arms with the included pins.

  • Options for Towing A Fifth Wheel With A 2022 F-350 Short Bed With OEM Puck System
With a 2022 F350 short bed, hitting the top of the bed rails should not be an issue with most campers. Turning clearance however, will certainly be a factor. That is one advantage of the Andersen Ultimate hitch # AM3200, as it provides a 9" offset. It is also very light (40 lbs) and will by far be the easiest to manage by yourself. Any other hitch is going to be at least quadruple that. For example, for your truck we would generally recommend a B&W companion hitch # BWRVK3370. Extremely...

For your 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500, the manufacturer puck system is not available in aftermarket but there is a very similar option to give you the 4 pucks. It is the Reese Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP30868. This system is a confirmed fit for your truck and if you want to also add the 5th hole for the gooseneck you can do that using the Reese Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Head Kit - 25,000 lbs # RP30158. Hi Fred, It's possible there is a 5th wheel hitch for your 2022 Ford F-250 that can give you a bit more clearance, but you'll need to compare that to where your current hitch sits. What may work for you is the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3370. The # BWRVK3370 has arms you can reposition, and when they are in the position furthest from the cab, the kingpin will be 1" in front of the axle. I'm not certain where your kingpin sits...

  • What is Best Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2024 Ford F-350 Short Bed with OEM Pucks
Hey Paul, we have great hitch solutions for the OEM pucks of your 2024 Ford F-350 short bed but whether or not you need a slider hitch is going to be based on the design of the trailer you plan to tow. Normally with a short bed truck you need a slider hitch like the part # BWRVK3370 as this allows the hitch to basically slide back and provide additional turning clearance. But slider hitches are heavier, tend to be noisier, and require extra steps when utilized so ideally you can use a...

Hi Brady, When installing the pivot arms on your B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w Slider # BWRVK3370 you'll want to ensure that you have 6" of clearance between the bed rails and the nose of your 5th wheel and 16" - 24" between the bumper of your truck and the body of your camper. To determine the height you'll measure the height from the ground to the floor of your truck bed and subtract it from the height from the ground to the king pin plate while the camper is level. The B and W Companion # BWRVK3305 will fit the OEM rail kit of your 2021 Ford F-350 short bed truck. Now you could run into clearance issues making tight turns though since typically short bed trucks require slider hitches that move back but if the trailer you will be towing has a tapered nose and an extended pin box which is really common you wouldn't need the slider and this hitch would work great. If you do need the additional clearance you'd want the slider version instead with part...

  • Why is Truck Bed Payload and Pin Weight Capacity Different for 2019 Ford F-250
There is a big difference between the payload capacity of a truck and the pin weight capacity from a fifth wheel or gooseneck trailer. The difference is due to the fact that payload is basically the weight capacity of the truck bed and pin weight capacity is for the frame of the truck since the hitch attaches to the truck's frame and comes through the truck bed. The bed doesn't support the in-bed hitch at all which explains why there's a difference. I believe you have a 2019 Ford F-250...
