Hi Jeff!
If your 2001 Ford F250 has above bed rails, like the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Ford F250 and F350 - Carbide Finish # C16443-204, then the PullRite SuperGlide 5th Wheel Hitch for Short Bed Trucks - 20K # PUL63RR will indeed fit! If you don't currently have above bed rails, the # C16443-204 rail kit I mentioned is a custom fit set up for your truck.
If you wanted to add some wiring into your bed, I recommend the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 7' Long # C56070. This will need to have a hole cut to install it, but you won't need to drape your wiring over your tailgate. I think it's worth it.
