The interlocking 2-jaw system wraps completely around the king pin for 360-degree contact. The jaws close tight and stay that way, keeping the ride stable and noticeably smoother when you’re pulling serious weight down the highway.
Before heading out, a quick glance at the color indicator tells you exactly what’s happening with the jaws—red means uncoupled, yellow means ready to couple, and green means fully locked for towing. For slow turns where clearance matters, the S25 slider gives you 12" of front-to-back travel. Clearing the bed is simple thanks to the fast one-pin head removal design—one person can lift it off without tools. Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails. Now, these base rails will install in your truck bed. And they provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel hitch installation. Now, when these rails are used with the CURT's Custom Mounting Brackets, which we sell separate on a website, these rails will cut in half the time it takes to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch.
We mentioned the finish on this. I'm gonna zoom in and sort of show it. It's a carbide black finish, sort of like a matte black finish, so it matches the finish if you use it on the CURT Q5 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch. Now, these rails are universal, so they will work with the following fifth wheel hitches. They work with the CURT brand, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky.
This part here will include the two base rails. Now, we mentioned the mounting brackets, the custom mounting brackets, the hardware, and an installation kit is all sold separately. The length on these rails, if we put a tape measure on them from one end to the other, right at 43 inches long. I think it is impressive and tells you that CURT HITCHES are confidant in there products, that they reach out after a year and ask how it is performing. How time flies. Its been another year and my hitch is still in the box it came in. I sold the truck I was going to put it on and have not replaced it with one that I plan to hang onto long enough to bother installing it on. I will have another F series truck though as my forever truck, that this will fit. At that time I will proudly install this hitch. I cant wait!

For clarification according to the installation instructions the fit note regarding 2003 and earlier models was in reference to competitors 5th wheel systems, and not in reference to the vehicle fit. For this kit the passenger side frame hanger will need to have holes drilled for complete installation.
