Features to know about

Switch to a Gooseneck and Get Your Truck Bed Back

When you're not towing your fifth wheel, you still need your truck bed open for everyday use. With this direct replacement pin box, you can hitch your trailer to a gooseneck ball and clear out the bulky fifth-wheel hitch that eats up space. Load your tools, haul lumber, or stow your weekend gear without worrying about having enough bed space. It's designed to keep your fifth wheels ride height and weight balance just right, and it installs with the included hardware. At about 175 lbs, it's a two-person lift, so grab a buddy or a hoist to make the job easier.

Built for Smoother, More Relaxed Towing

If you've had it with an air-bag pin box that seems to lose pressure or need topping off, this gooseneck pin box gives you the same comfort without the upkeep. The GooseTech cushioned pin box uses a heavy-duty rubber shear spring to absorb vertical and fore-and-aft movement, softening the jolt from bumps, dips, and bridge seams. You'll feel less chucking up front and experience a more relaxed ride on long hauls.

Optimized for Your Trailer's Weight

Although this pin box can tow up to 24,000 lbs, the internal rubber shear spring is optimized for trailers that range from 18,000 lbs +. A rubber spring built for 24,000 lbs trailers would be too stiff to provide any cushion for an 18,000 lb trailer, while a rubber spring built for 18,000 trailers would be too flexible for a 24,000 lbs trailer. To get the best results from this cushioned pin box, the sweet spot is a trailer in the 18,000 lbs + range.

Ready for an Easier Way to Hook Up and Disconnect?

With GooseTech, hooking up happens fast. As you lower your trailer onto the gooseneck ball, the spring-loaded coupler clicks into place and locks down tight, so you don't have to latch it by hand or wonder if it's secure. Once you're connected, climb in to attach your safety chains (sold separately) for that extra peace of mind before you head out. When it's time to unhook, reach into your truck bed with the included remote handle to pull the release handle. And when you're parked for the night, use the built-in lock hole to secure your trailer and sleep easy.

After years of trying different hitch setups, the MorRyde GooseTech has become my favorite towing system yet. We’ve towed over 1,200 miles with it, and it’s been smooth, quiet, and completely maintenance-free , no airbags to refill, no grease fittings to mess with, and a super simple hookup process. Plus, when I unhook, I get my entire truck bed back. It feels like MorRyde took everything I loved about their rubber pin box and made it even better. I couldn’t be happier with how it tows.

  • Recommended Lock for MORryde GooseTech 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box
Hey Jeff! The MORryde GooseTech 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # MR97MV comes with a Demco eZ-Latch. The best option for a lock is the InfiniteRule Lock for Cast Demco eZ-Latch Trailer Couplers # IR66FR. This is designed to for a standard coupler but fits the GooseTech as well. Are you replacing a 1621 on your 5th wheel?

  • Old Air-Ride Pin Box Leaks - Upgrading To Goosetech Setup Instead Of Heavy Fifth Wheel Hitch
Yes, Tina, the MORryde GooseTech is a great modern solution for that. Instead of air bags, it uses a rubber shear-spring to absorb shock without needing air pressure checks. It’s essentially maintenance-free and a big upgrade over traditional 5th-wheel gear since you can ditch the hitch entirely. What trailer are you running now so I can verify the pin-box fit? I've attached an article that helps you find that out on your own, but I'm here if you need more help. Also, here are a few common...

  • Upgrading From Standard Lippert Rhino To MORryde Cushioned Gooseneck Hitch 18K GTW
Shawn - from your description, # MR24MV is just right. At ~18,500 lb GTW and a Lippert Rhino pin-box, the MORryde GooseTech # MR24MV is designed for the heavy end category (18,000+ lb GTW, Lippert Rhino). Overkill isn’t really a concern here - you’re matching the correct category and meeting the required specs. What matters now is ensuring your truck, truck bed, and gooseneck hitch are rated for everything. If you like, we can discuss the bed/truck pair required so you don’t end up under-spec....

  • What is the Highest Capacity of the MORryde GooseTech 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box MR24MV?
Hey MJ. The high ends 24,000 lbs. The MORryde GooseTech 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # MR24MV is going to fit any trailer with a Rhino-Pin box and GVWR over 18,000 lbs up to 24,000 lbs GVWR. I've attached the GooseTech fit chart below from MORryde's website . You will also need the Safety Chain with 2 Hooks item # GY49GR. Safety chains are required for gooseneck connections and they are not included with the pin boxes. These will attach to that cross looking cutout by the MORryde...

  • Can I Haul Gooseneck Flat Bed Trailer And 5th Wheel With Gooseneck Ball 2-5/16" ?
Brian - you can, and it’s a slick setup. The MORryde GooseTech pin boxes all connect directly to your existing 2-5/16" ball. They absorb shock through a rubber cushion, ride smoother than a normal king-pin, and free up your bed for weekday hauling. What trailer do you have? I can confirm the right match. As a start, check out these options to see if they match up to your pin box and trailer's Gross Towing Weight. If not, let me know and I'll help you out, or you can check out the attached...

  • Can Gooseneck Adapter For 5th Wheels Crack Or Damage The Frame? Which Models Are Available?
Good question, Logan. Some of the old bolt-on adapters were a problem, usually from people using the wrong size and overloading it. But 5th wheel to gooseneck adapters are generally safe and accepted as a proper and legitimate upgrade. Modern replacements like the MORryde GooseTech are built specifically for your trailer’s frame. They replace the entire pin box, so load is distributed correctly, and the internal rubber cushion helps absorb stress. You’ll also gain the bonus of removing...

  • Which 5th Wheel Pin Boxes And Trailers Are Easiest To Convert To Gooseneck Setup?
Wendy - that's an interesting question, but good thinking because 5th wheel hitches are a bit of a pain and are quite heavy/bulky compared to a single ball in the bed. Look for fifth wheels with Lippert 1116, 1716, 1621, or Rhino pin boxes - MORryde makes a GooseTech for each. # MR77MV for Lippert 1116 11,500 lbs to 14,000 lbs Gross Towing Weight # MR39MV for Lippert 1716 11,500 lbs to 14,000 lbs Gross Towing Weight # MR97MV for Lippert 1621 14,000 lbs to 18,000 lbs Gross Towing Weight ...

  • Will 2020 GMC 2500 Have Proper Clearance With 2017 GrandDesign Solitude 310GK and MORryde GooseTech
Hey Scott! Clearance is a concern with the 6-3/4' bed. More than likely you can use the MORryde GooseTech 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # MR97MV with the Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for GM OEM Puck Systems - 5" Offset # GY55XR. To find out if this will work or not you can take some measurements and use the following formula: (A + B) - C = Clearance A = Distance from center of gooseneck ball to truck cab B = Length of offset (this will be 5 if you're using the Gen-Y) C = Width...

  • Is There A Way To Convert 5th Wheel Pin Box To Work With Gooseneck Ball And Smooth Out The Ride?
Ellen, definitely. The new generation of gooseneck pin boxes, like the MORryde GooseTech series, use an internal rubber cushion that soaks up road shock. They tow smoother than some outdated adapters and don’t need air bags or maintenance which is a huge plus in my opinion. Plus, you can ditch that big steel hitch and have your bed free again. What kind of trailer do you have? I can match the correct GooseTech model for you. For example, here are some common options we have available....

  • What Size Safety Chains Fit MORryde GooseTech
Hey Terry! Safety chains like the Gen-Y # GY49GR will work with the MORryde GooseTech 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # MR99MV. The safety chain slot can handle 3/8" or 5/16" so either size will fit. We prefer the Gen-Y because they're easy to install on the GooseTech. Do you have a Lippert 1716 bolt pattern on your 5th wheel? The GooseTech is bolt pattern and weight specific so you want to make sure both are correct for your trailer.

  • Can I Swap 5th Wheel King Pin From 2022 Alliance Paradigm Lippert Rhino With A Gooseneck Hitch?
Cheryl - absolutely. Your Paradigm’s Rhino box pairs perfectly with the MORryde GooseTech # MR24MV, which is built for the 18,000 lb and up class. It keeps your ride height stock but uses a rubber shock-absorbing core to soften bumps that a standard king pin can’t. Some 5th wheel pin boxes can have this cushioned setup as well, but you'd still have to use the heavy 5th wheel hitch in truck and you don't have one for your RAM, so I'd go this MORryde route for sure! It’s a smoother setup...

  • Can I Pull 18K 5th Wheel With Gooseneck Ball In My Truck Bed?
Kurt, great question. And yes, as long as you use the right gear. For heavier rigs like yours that run a Lippert Rhino pin box, the MORryde GooseTech # MR24MV replaces it directly. Unlike bolt-on adapters, this one’s engineered for that frame, rated for 18k+, and uses a built-in rubber shear-spring to absorb shock. You’ll get a smoother tow and more open bed space - a serious upgrade from the standard 5th-wheel setup. Would you like help verifying you have the Rhino pin box?

  • Will Upgrading To MORryde GooseTech Pin Box Change Bed Rail Clearance?
Hey Paul, thanks for reaching out. The MORryde GooseTech 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box is designed to match the height and length profile of the original pin box it replaces, so the overall dimension from the top of the pin box housing down to the gooseneck connection point will line up very closely with your factory setup. For example, the # MR24MV you were looking at is a direct replacement for the Lippert Rhino pin box, so its mounting height and coupler drop will mirror that same Rhino...

  • What's The Best Way To Get Rid Of Heavy 5th Wheel Hitch And Still Tow Cedar Creek RV?
Deanna - replacing your trailer’s pin box is the trick! If your Cedar Creek has a Lippert 1621 box, the MORryde GooseTech # MR97MV you were looking at is a direct bolt-on replacement. It couples to your gooseneck ball, cushions bumps with a rubber spring, and completely eliminates the need for a fifth-wheel hitch. You’ll have your bed back and a smoother ride to boot. A quick search tells me you may have a Lippert Rhino pin box instead. If that's the case, you'd instead want # MR24MV....

  • Upgrading To Gooseneck Hitch Instead Of 5th Wheel Pin Box On 2021 Alliance RV W/ Lippert Rhino
Erika, absolutely. The MORryde GooseTech model # MR24MV is designed specifically as the gooseneck-adapter replacement for trailers with the Lippert Rhino pin-box pattern rated at 18,000 lb+ GTW. You'll also want Safety Chains to be safe and legal # GY49GR. Because you’re in that heavy end category, you’ll want to double-check that your Paradigm 385 RD indeed has the Rhino-type pin box (sometimes manufacturers change patterns throughout a generation of RVs).
