What's The Best Way To Get Rid Of Heavy 5th Wheel Hitch And Still Tow Cedar Creek RV?

Published 10/29/2025

Question:

Our Cedar Creek pulls great, but we hate keeping that giant hitch in the truck all the time. What’s the best way to get rid of it? I want to use gooseneck ball that we also have in the truck bed. Don't want to trade in the newer RV because we do like it a lot. thanks! :)

Deanna - replacing your trailer’s pin box is the trick! If your Cedar Creek has a Lippert 1621 box, the MORryde GooseTech # MR97MV you were looking at is a direct bolt-on replacement. It couples to your gooseneck ball, cushions bumps with a rubber spring, and completely eliminates the need for a fifth-wheel hitch. You’ll have your bed back and a smoother ride to boot.

A quick search tells me you may have a Lippert Rhino pin box instead. If that's the case, you'd instead want # MR24MV. You can also look at the attached help article to figure out which pin box you have for sure!

Keep in mind you'll also need to add safety chains like # GY49GR.

What year and model is that Cedar Creek?
