Question:

Good Day, I am considering a modification to my setup: 2020 GMC 2500HD standard bed currently Pullrite superslider fifthwheel hitch 2017 GrandDesign Solitude 310GK Considering the MORryde GooseTech MR97MV pin box 14-18,000K gross tow weight My concern is turning radius Truck cab + Camper nose = bad news. Would a direct conversion work? With gooseball in truck puck? Or gooseball with a 4inch offest? Thank you

Hey Scott! Clearance is a concern with the 6-3/4' bed. More than likely you can use the MORryde GooseTech 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # MR97MV with the Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for GM OEM Puck Systems - 5" Offset # GY55XR. To find out if this will work or not you can take some measurements and use the following formula:

(A + B) - C = Clearance

A = Distance from center of gooseneck ball to truck cab

B = Length of offset (this will be 5 if you're using the Gen-Y)

C = Width of trailer divided by 2

You want at least 4" of clearance to make a 90 degree turn. If you have a little less you will have to test it out once it is on there so you are aware of your limitations. Also, the # MR97MV is designed to fit the Lippert Rhino bolt pattern. If you aren't sure what your bolt pattern is I would be happy to check if you can add the serial number from your pin box in the comments below.

Hey Scott, how did your measurements turn out with the GooseTech pin box and the Gen-Y offset hitch on your GMC? Were you able to get enough clearance for those tight turns? Your results could really help others working with short-bed trucks and similar setups.

@ScottL In the middle of a 3,000 mile trip from southern Illinois to Key West, FL and back. Completely satisfied with the MorRyde goosetech pin box. Recommend the switch, got my truck bed back. Tow vehicle is a 2020 GMC 2500 standard bed, with Gen Y 5" offset gooseball, I can turn 90° without hitting cab/camper (limited only by roll up tonneau cover).
