Features to know about

Switch to a Gooseneck and Get Your Truck Bed Back

When you're not towing your fifth wheel, you still need your truck bed open for everyday use. With this direct replacement pin box, you can hitch your trailer to a gooseneck ball and clear out the bulky fifth-wheel hitch that eats up space. Load your tools, haul lumber, or stow your weekend gear without worrying about having enough bed space. It's designed to keep your fifth wheels ride height and weight balance just right, and it installs with the included hardware. At about 175 lbs, it's a two-person lift, so grab a buddy or a hoist to make the job easier.

Built for Smoother, More Relaxed Towing

If you've had it with an air-bag pin box that seems to lose pressure or need topping off, this gooseneck pin box gives you the same comfort without the upkeep. The GooseTech cushioned pin box uses a heavy-duty rubber shear spring to absorb vertical and fore-and-aft movement, softening the jolt from bumps, dips, and bridge seams. You'll feel less chucking up front and experience a more relaxed ride on long hauls.

Optimized for Your Trailer's Weight

Although this pin box can tow up to 18,000 lbs, the internal rubber shear spring is optimized for trailers that range from 11,501 to 14,000 lbs. A rubber spring built for 18,000 lbs trailers would be too stiff to provide any cushion for an 11,501 lb trailer, while a rubber spring built for 11,501 trailers would be too flexible for a 18,000 lbs trailer. To get the best results from this cushioned pin box, the sweet spot is a trailer in the 11,501 to 14,000 lbs range.

Ready for an Easier Way to Hook Up and Disconnect?

With GooseTech, hooking up happens fast. As you lower your trailer onto the gooseneck ball, the spring-loaded coupler clicks into place and locks down tight, so you don't have to latch it by hand or wonder if it's secure. Once you're connected, climb in to attach your safety chains (sold separately) for that extra peace of mind before you head out. When it's time to unhook, reach into your truck bed with the included remote handle to pull the release handle. And when you're parked for the night, use the built-in lock hole to secure your trailer and sleep easy.

After years of trying different hitch setups, the MoRyde GooseTech has become my favorite towing system yet. We’ve towed over 1,200 miles with it, and it’s been smooth, quiet, and completely maintenance-free , no airbags to refill, no grease fittings to mess with, and a super simple hookup process. Plus, when I unhook, I get my entire truck bed back. It feels like MorRyde took everything I loved about their rubber pin box and made it even better. I couldn’t be happier with how it tows.

  • Recommended Lock for MORryde GooseTech 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box
Hey Jeff! The MORryde GooseTech 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # MR97MV comes with a Demco eZ-Latch. The best option for a lock is the InfiniteRule Lock for Cast Demco eZ-Latch Trailer Couplers # IR66FR. This is designed to for a standard coupler but fits the GooseTech as well. • Old Air-Ride Pin Box Leaks - Upgrading To Goosetech Setup Instead Of Heavy Fifth Wheel Hitch
Yes, Tina, the MORryde GooseTech is a great modern solution for that. Instead of air bags, it uses a rubber shear-spring to absorb shock without needing air pressure checks. It’s essentially maintenance-free and a big upgrade over traditional 5th-wheel gear since you can ditch the hitch entirely. What trailer are you running now so I can verify the pin-box fit? I've attached an article that helps you find that out on your own, but I'm here if you need more help. Also, here are a few common...

  • Replacing 5th Wheel 1716 Pin Box With Upgraded Cushioned Gooseneck On 2020 Grand Design Reflection
Lisa - you’re on the right track. For your Reflection 303RLS, if it indeed has the Lippert 1716 pin box, then the MORryde GooseTech model # MR39MV is made for that exact pin-box bolt-pattern. The 1716 is very common in that size trailer category. Just double-check that your trailer’s GTW gross trailer weight and the pin-box label matches the 1716 rather than a different variant so you pick the correct adapter. This unit is rated for RVs between 11.5K to 14K GTW. Once confirmed, you’ll...

  • Can I Haul Gooseneck Flat Bed Trailer And 5th Wheel With Gooseneck Ball 2-5/16" ?
Brian - you can, and it’s a slick setup. The MORryde GooseTech pin boxes all connect directly to your existing 2-5/16" ball. They absorb shock through a rubber cushion, ride smoother than a normal king-pin, and free up your bed for weekday hauling. What trailer do you have? I can confirm the right match. As a start, check out these options to see if they match up to your pin box and trailer's Gross Towing Weight. If not, let me know and I'll help you out, or you can check out the attached...

  • Can Gooseneck Adapter For 5th Wheels Crack Or Damage The Frame? Which Models Are Available?
Good question, Logan. Some of the old bolt-on adapters were a problem, usually from people using the wrong size and overloading it. But 5th wheel to gooseneck adapters are generally safe and accepted as a proper and legitimate upgrade. Modern replacements like the MORryde GooseTech are built specifically for your trailer’s frame. They replace the entire pin box, so load is distributed correctly, and the internal rubber cushion helps absorb stress. You’ll also gain the bonus of removing...

  • Which 5th Wheel Pin Boxes And Trailers Are Easiest To Convert To Gooseneck Setup?
Wendy - that's an interesting question, but good thinking because 5th wheel hitches are a bit of a pain and are quite heavy/bulky compared to a single ball in the bed. Look for fifth wheels with Lippert 1116, 1716, 1621, or Rhino pin boxes - MORryde makes a GooseTech for each. # MR77MV for Lippert 1116 11,500 lbs to 14,000 lbs Gross Towing Weight # MR39MV for Lippert 1716 11,500 lbs to 14,000 lbs Gross Towing Weight # MR97MV for Lippert 1621 14,000 lbs to 18,000 lbs Gross Towing Weight ...

  • 2018 Jayco North Point 377RLBH Lippert 1716 Pin Box - Upgrade To Gooseneck With Cushioned Rubber
Good question, Rebecca - and I’m glad you double-checked the numbers. The MORryde GooseTech # MR39MV fits trailers with a Lippert 1716 pin box and a gross trailer weight between 11,500 and 14,000 lbs, so yours is actually just above its intended range. For your 15,500-lb North Point, you’ll want to step up to the MORryde GooseTech # MR99MV, which fits the Lippert 1716 and is rated for 14k-18k GTW The new MORrydes not only handle the extra weight safely, they're also a nice upgrade: it...

  • Is There A Way To Convert 5th Wheel Pin Box To Work With Gooseneck Ball And Smooth Out The Ride?
Ellen, definitely. The new generation of gooseneck pin boxes, like the MORryde GooseTech series, use an internal rubber cushion that soaks up road shock. They tow smoother than some outdated adapters and don’t need air bags or maintenance which is a huge plus in my opinion. Plus, you can ditch that big steel hitch and have your bed free again. What kind of trailer do you have? I can match the correct GooseTech model for you. For example, here are some common options we have available....

  • RAM Truck With Factory Gooseneck Hitch - How To Pull Keystone Montana 5th Wheel With It
You sure can, Harold. Many Keystone Montanas like yours use a Lippert 1716 pin box, which can be swapped for MORryde’s GooseTech # MR39MV. It turns your fifth-wheel into a gooseneck setup, connects right to your factory ball, and uses rubber cushioning for a smoother ride. It’s lighter, cleaner, and you’ll never have to wrestle that big hitch again in your pickup bed. If you can let me know which model the Montana is, or more importantly what model your pin box is, I can make sure we match...

  • Towing Keystone Montana Fifth Wheel Lippert 1716 Pin Box With A Gooseneck Ball
Colton - it’ll ride smoother if you go to a cushioned design like the MORryde GooseTech # MR39MV. Its rubber core dampens chucking and vertical shock, so you feel less bounce in the cab (the trailer will appreciate it too). It’s also an upgrade because you can toss that heavy hitch and gain your truck bed back. Pair it with chains # GY49GR and you’re ready to tow from your factory ball. Is anything wrong with your current setup, or just looking for a good reason to upgrade?

  • How To Use Flatbed Gooseneck Ball With 5th Wheel Toy Hauler
You bet, Cliff. Instead of using a bolt-on adapter that can stress the frame, you can swap your trailer’s pin box for a dedicated gooseneck-style one. For your Reflection 303RLS which usually runs a Lippert 1716 pin box, the MORryde GooseTech # MR39MV is the right match. It’s a true upgrade - cushioned with rubber to cut out the harsh jarring and completely eliminates the need for that heavy hitch. • How To Get Simple Hookup And Smooth Ride On 2020 Grand Design Solitude 310GK 15k GVWR
Good question, Lyle - and nice setup. Your Solitude 310GK actually uses a Lippert 1621 pin box, not the 1716, so the correct match is the MORryde GooseTech # MR97MV. It’s rated for 14,000–18,000 lbs and bolts directly in place of your existing pin box. The # MR39MV is for the 1726 Lippert pin box which is not a fit for your setup. The # MR97MV connects right to your gooseneck ball, eliminates the need for that heavy fifth-wheel hitch, and upgrades your towing comfort with a rubber shear-spring...

  • Upgrading Lippert 1716 / 1621 Pin Box On 2021 Grand Design Reflection 311BHS To Gooseneck Setup
Matt - you’re in good shape. Your 1716 pin box can be replaced directly with the MORryde GooseTech # MR39MV, which bolts to the same mounts and hooks straight to your gooseneck ball. It’s a real upgrade - the rubber shear-spring inside absorbs the fore-and-aft “chucking,” and you can finally ditch that heavy 5th-wheel hitch for a wide-open bed. Since you’re switching to a gooseneck connection, add safety chains # GY49GR to stay compliant and secure. I know you said it's the 1716, but...
