Measure your door opening and entry height, and choose the rise/drop you prefer since that difference is the distance between steps. During install, expect tight clearances—some setups need the threshold lip or a bit of the screen door frame trimmed so everything closes smoothly.
Measure the door opening at the frame and make sure the step can catch the lip on the door frame. If the step is too small to catch the lip, adjusting the step may not fix it. Also check your entry height so the rise between steps feels right for you.
Installation can be straightforward with general knowledge of how to use a drill. Plan for an extra set of hands to hold the step until it's adjusted to hold the door. In some cases notching the bottom of the door frame or trimming foundation material helps with clearance. Check your hardware count before you start.
Start by leaving off the decorative roll plate or cut its center section so the ends remain. If needed, trim the threshold lip where the brackets sit.
