Hey Cody.

As long as you’re mounting to a solid support part of the frame, you’ll be good to install the MORryde Safe-T-Rail # MR54BR on your camper without any issues. Your RV should have a frame around the door to support the door as well as the existing hand rail.

If there isn’t a support beam there, then you could run into some stability concerns. But from what you described, it sounds like you do have the proper support to mount it safely.

What camper do you have that you need the hand rail for?

@Cody. I put a small backing plate on mine at the bottom due to it being a really thin metal strip. Works great

Most people remove the grab handle that came from the manufacturer. In that case there will certainly be support for the new Safe T Rail

@Ray Thanks for that tip! I know on some campers we have seen where the support may not go as far down as this grab handle will need, so it’s always good to double check to make sure. If not, then some sort of backing plate will be needed.

As some have already pointed out, the Safe-T-Rail mounts in the same location as the grab bar was attached and has a solid mount. If you do extend down into a thin metal trim, you can place a metal plate behind for a little additional support. The one I installed, is much more stable than the grab bar that came with my camper and provides support all the way down the stairs.

@Bob Thanks for your feedback, Bob! I'm glad it gives you that added support that you need. I've been in some campers where I felt like even with a grab bar, it was a little sketchy coming out.

If you’re mounting the Mor ride rail next to your door , you should have plenty of support. We love ours so much my support.

@GeorgeD Glad it's givin you the added support you need getting in and out of the camper. Nothing is worse then not having a sturdy handrail when you're still waking up.
