The shorter 7-1/2" rise makes these steps much easier to climb, especially for seniors or anyone who wants a more natural stair feel. Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and today we're taking a look at the TorkLift GlowStep Revolution uprising RV steps. Now these are a great option for those vehicles that don't already have a step well underneath the entryway for their vehicle, since these are going to actually just collapse and then store inside our vehicle while we're in transport. The other cool thing about these is that they actually have a bonus step, so it's really a three step plus one. Because there is a little latch that we have to undo to get that fourth step out. So if we need a little extra height from our steps, we can lift them up, pull this lever at the bottom, and then we'll have an additional step that will deploy out.
Since I just have this kind of precariously resting there, I'm not going to show you that, but that's basically how this works.If you need that fourth step all the time, you'd probably want to go to the four step version of this rather than using this one for that, since it's just another extra step. It's totally usable as a four step, but there's just that extra piece you have to do to deploy that every time. And if you're going to be living with this day in and day out, it might be a little bit annoying. But the other nice thing about the TorkLift steps is they are pretty adjustable as well, so these are going to be bolted together rather than riveted. And if in the future you decide that you wanted to add in that step, you can do that with an extra kit for replacing one of our steps.
So that's a nice option there. You can also remove a step if you decide that you don't need that. Replace it if something happens to it, it gets damaged. So very adjustable for your needs for your vehicle.The other thing that's really nice, in addition to having that bonus step, that'll give us another seven and a half inches of height for this. We also have these landing feet and these are going to be adjustable as well.
With this little detent at the top, we can adjust that another seven and a half inches in inch increments. So if we happen to be at a kind of uneven camping ground, we can adjust those independently side to side to get that dialed in. And it's going to create a really nice stable connection between our RV and the ground. This isn't like your OEM stairs where they don't make any contact with the ground, and then you kind of have that diving board feeling, where you feel like you're about to spring off into the ether. So these are going to be very secure, a lot easier on your knees, a lot easier on your back.
And also a lot easier for pets and little ones to get in and out of your RV as well.Another thing that I really like about these is that they actually have this little sticker of glow tape on each step on each side. So even in the dark, we'll be able to see where our stairs are and not have to kind of figure out where they are as we're coming in and out. We'll be able to see them even at night.They're made of a durable aircraft, grade aluminum for the steps. All our hardware is going to be stainless steel, so we don't have to worry about any rust or corrosion. It's going to be a really step that should last for a long time. Very adjustable as I said, and then this portion is going to be what goes over our threshold. So we'll just mount these brackets into our threshold, kind of at the side of our frame and then down into the frame as well.Whenever we're ready to travel, we collapsed the steps, fold it up, and this is going to be nice as well for kind of close quarters situations. One of the very similar steps to this would be the Lippert SolidStep, which is a great, as the name suggests, solid step. But the disadvantage with that is that it's kind of like a little drawbridge, and if you're in a narrow spot where there's maybe another RV or a fifth wheel right next to you, and you go to deploy those stairs out, well now you've hit the other RV or you can't get them all the way out because they just come out like a drawbridge. With these, since they're a scissor style and we can collapse them in, they really don't need that much room to deploy. You just need about 12 inches or so to flip them out, spread them out, and then you're good to go. So definitely an advantage there, especially if you're going to be in a some kind of close quarters situations.The other nice thing about our feet, nice wide little footprint to make sure that we don't just sink into the ground. Height adjustment is great as well. These just are made pretty well, especially with the a bolt on design, they're going to move in and out really well instead of the kind of riveted style. It doesn't hold too tightly that you have to fight with it, but it's not too loose to where it just flops all over the place and it might hit you in the face or anything like that. So these are just a really nice, very sturdy step to improve getting in and out of your RV.As far as the numbers to throw at you, the entry height that this is going to work with is anywhere between 27 3/8 inches to 34 7/8 inches. And that's going from the ground to that bottom corner of your thresholds. So that's where we're getting our measurement there. As far as clearance, you want to make sure that you have at least 3/8's of an inch in between your threshold and the bottom of your door just to make sure that it will clear over this piece, since your door will have to close over that. It should be sitting level, but just the way I have it here, it's kind of resting on that, but that's what's going to actually go over your threshold. And you also want to make sure that that threshold is between about 5/8's of an inch and 3/4's. Those are really the numbers to make sure that this is going to fit with your vehicle.Again, as I said at the beginning, we'll have two different versions of this step with a 28 inch width or 24 inch width. As far as the usable stair width, for our bigger option, it's going to be about 23 inches. And then for our smaller version, it's about 18 and a half. And that's just for this top step we're actually going to be stepping, as far as the usable width there. Our steps are going to be eight inches deep, with a seven and a half inch rise, which is pretty common to what you'd normally have in your house. So it's not going to be a giant step that feels too big or a really small one that might kind of be harder on your back.These have a weight capacity of 375 pounds. It comes with a lifetime limited warranty from TorkLift, and they are made in the USA. A couple options that you can get with these, or you can pick up separately actually, would be a handrail. That's going to be part number TLA7621. You can find that here at etrailer.com. As well as a boot brush, which is TLA7603. And that's just a little brush that you can mount up here and then wipe off any mud or debris that you've gotten on your boots so you don't track it all over the inside of your RV.I think these are a great option, really stable and secure. And they look nice, easy to use, and they should last for a long time. So I hope this video has been helpful in making your decision. We bought Torklift Glowstep Revolution steps from etrailer.com for our previous 2016 Rockwood 8329SS, which had a stepwell. We have now traded for a 2019 Flagstaff 8321KBS (Forest River twins: same trailers and floorplan, made in same factory, different brand names, which doesn't have a stepwell to mount the Glowstep Revolution steps, so we had to order the Glowstep Revolution UPRISING steps for the Flagstaff, also from etrailer. The Flagstaff came factory equipped with the swing-out SolidSteps that fold upwards into the doorway, and there isn't room in our RV garage to open these steps. The Torklift Glowstep Revolution UPRISING steps were our only option if we wanted to gain access to the interior of our trailer while in the garage. Unlike the Rockwood, we had no stepwell in which to install the Glowstep Revolution steps, as we installed on the Rockwood. Like the Lippert Solidsteps, they also swing up to store upside down inside the doorway, but the folded stack of 5 steps is only about 2 feet high when folded and stored inside. Torklift Glowsteps can be used to gain access into a travel trailer in any "tight" place. They can be extended straight down and used like a ladder, if need be. I have disabilities, but the UPRISING steps were easier for me to install, because all the work was at waist level, instead of under the stepwell. The steps attach to the trailer doorframe with 6 bolts. You do have to do some precise measuring before you drill those 6 holes. It was tedious work to mark the holes, but not difficult. The UPRISING steps have a "booster" step under the bottom step that will fold out if the terrain surrounding the trailer is lower than the surface the wheels are parked on, and we have camped in sites that did require folding out the "booster" (5th) step, making a separate 4-legged platform unnecessary. All in all, we like the UPRISING steps just as much or better than the regular Torklift Glowstep Revolution steps that store in a stepwell. At 70 and 71, with my wife's "trick" hip and my "bum" knees, the 7 1/2-inch rise of Torklift's "scissoring" steps make it MUCH easier for us to get into and out of our RV than SolidSteps, Step Above, or factory hanging steps. Don't be worried about any minor 'flexing" of the steps when using them. You don't feel it, and Torklift has been making these steps for truck campers for a long, long time. However, we will be purchasing the Torklift "quick-connect" railing system soon. I am taller than my wife, and have little balance problems with them at this time, but with the 5th "booster" step deployed, my wife feels she may lose her balance if she doesn't go slowly and hang on to the door. It IS a "long way" to the ground when the "booster" step is deployed, and just this elevation can make some people feel uneasy without a railing for "reassurance". Even if we didn't have the clearance problem with the SolidSteps or Step Above steps in our garage, we still prefer the Torklft Glowsteps because of the reduced "rise" between steps. Family members have both of the other "swing-out" steps on their RVs, and it is MUCH harder for us to climb OR descend the others. The Glowsteps are somewhat more expensive than the others (the others don't FOLD), but we have NO regrets about the cost. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of the installation at this time. We have been working on "personalizing" this new trailer to the extent that we had done on the 2016, and we have been busy! lol
Easy to install. Just make sure if you have any drawers by the doorway, clear the lift brackets. I had to trim my cabinet drawer, which was no big deal.
Steps work great. Entry is a breeze.
It's rare when something on the Internet lives up to the hype, but these really do. I have a 5th-wheel that's pretty tall and I need the 5-step model of the GlowSteps.I was initially concerned that they would flex but they really don't; they are remarkably solid! I've had several RV sites that were not very level and these accommodate every site I've been -- that "hidden step" has come in handy a time or two.
The reason I initially bought these is because the 5th-wheel is so close to a fence when parked at home that I was unable to open the "drawbridge" type stairs that came with it -- I literally couldn't get into my new RV until I switched out the stairs! I was able to remove the drawbridge stairs and install these all from outside the camper.
I've found that these are better than a drawbridge type anyway because of how versatile they are with unlevel/uneven ground. These make for a flat, stable and safe stairway everywhere I've gone so far.
Just what we needed. We have a tight fit for our 5th wheel in our side yard. Now we can get in without having to hook up and move it to the street
These were a replacement for the Morryde steps, which were just a little to short for my 5th wheel. These steps are great and much more functional than the MorRydes were. Awesome product. Thanks Etrailer!
This is one of the best products I’ve purchased. I replaced my Step-Above steps (<1 year old) with Torklift because of weight and ease of use...the coach parked next to me in storage never allowed enough room without pulling out my Solitude when gaining access. The install was a snap it took less than and hour with my buddy Tom. Matt at etrailor was top notch and helped coordinate the delivery while we were on the road. Five star rating for service, product and installation.
Very well made steps. Took me about an hour to remove the old Moryde step above steps and install these in their place. Will definitely take care of my clearance issues. The box that the steps came in was decimated but all the parts were there and nothing was bent. Perhaps you could use a heavier cardboard packaging because one of the other channel guys said his packaging was totaled.
We LOVE our TorkLift Revolution steps. Our New Horizons fifth wheel sits pretty high off the ground, and having the Booster Step on the 5-step model has been great. We use that extra step more often than not. The steps are easy to pull out and put back in. And the glow squares are great when we're camping in a "Dark Sky" location. They're unobtrusive, but help us find our way in the dark. We have two of these, one for each entry door on our toyhauler. We've also used them like a ladder when stopping in tight places or on the side of the road where it slopes away too fast to put the stairs out. Very versatile and well-made, we highly recommend. In the photos, the back door has the 24" steps with the extra step not in use, and the front door (side with awnings) has the 28" steps with the extra step extended.
These steps were purchased to replace a factory set of MorRyde Step Above steps - excellent steps but with a fixed length. The fixed length did not allow us to get inside our trailer inside the storage barn.
The TorkLift steps are more flimsy (they flex) and don't have the side support of the MorRyde steps. The way they mount inside the door is not as robust as the MorRyde steps. To get a comforable angle we have to use the pull out bottom step everywhere we go (improved campgrounds) and those adjustable posts on the front corners will trip you all the time. The "glow" aspect doesn't apply to us because we use covers on the steps which covers them. The grooves in the steps are so aggresive they would grab our dog's claws (we keep them clipped). The big thing, and the reason they're still on, is that I can adjust them in the barn and get into the RV. If the ability to adjust the length wasn't so important I would put the MorRyde steps back on.
Fast delivery! Easy to installed, very stable! A little heavy to lift when folding up to store, but not horrible. Makes getting in and out of our 5th wheel much easier and safer!!
A bit expensive, but I'm so glad GlowSteps are available and made in USA. I can actually use these steps in storage unlike the MORryde steps that don't have enough clearance.
This is our second set of TorkLift steps that we have. We liked them so much on our old rv we had to get a set for the new rv.
Much more versatile than the Moryde steps I had before. Bonus is now I can deploy the steps when I'm parked in my storage unit. These are well made right here in the USA and were easy to install. The only slight downside is they are a bit heavierbut doable for the wife.
I’ve installed these steps into my 2023 Alliance Avenue. And it was super easy to do. The steps helped a lot with the bouncing as I was walking in and out of the 5th wheel while my wife was still sleeping in the mornings.
Pretty easy to install. It makes getting into the trailer possible regardless of how close the parking is. They are pretty stable as well. Only negatives are that the spring loaded pin you have to press in to adjust the height of the steps can be really hard to press while trying to raise the legs. And the bottom step latch doesn’t release easily.
The product is a good replacement for the steps on my RV. Installation was pretty easy. One of the screws that attach the steps to the inside of the door frame was the wrong thread. Fortunately, my "parts box" contained a correct replacement, saving me a trip to the hardware store. Thank you for your quick delivery.
Simple to install and love the lower rise height. Did have to do a little dremel work on a slooooopy weld that kept the stairs from deploying. Very pleased, now to see how well they "ride" inside. Great replacement for my Lippert Solid 2 step.
This step works as advertised it allows me to get into my ditch wheel where I have it parked on side of garage in a tight space so I can get in and out with ease. Before I had a step that need 3-4 foot opening to get steps down, no I only need space to unfold steps. Awesome product worth the investment.
These stairs are a great upgrade over the factory floating style stair. The installation was very easy and took less than hour including time to get tools out and put them away. The steps easily fold in and out and have smooth operation.
My trailer was towards the upper end of the 4 step height range, time will tell if they are tall enough or if I should of gone with the 5 step version.
As a note the box used to ship the stairs was not up to the task and arrived heavily damaged. The box had no reinforced corners and the stairs were just wrapped with some paper. Luckily they arrived undamaged.

Pros:
* installation was straight forward
* Rock solid when using 4 steps. Ok, but less solid when 5th (booster) step is deployed. Steps are a bit steep with our 38” deck when not using the booster step so we wind up deploying it more often than not when set up at a campsite.
* You can fold these steps down anywhere there is room to fully open the trailer door. This is why we bought them … got a new “neighbor” where we store it and were no longer able to get into the trailer to load, unload, work on it, etc. The 4 step “drawbridge” extended too far out when swinging down.
Cons:
* heavyish … more effort to deploy than our lift-assisted SolidStep. Probably not much different than a SolidStep that doesn’t have lift assist, but I can’t say for sure.
* Not as solid as the SolidStep, particularly with the 5th step deployed. I don’t consider these an upgrade in our case, but they did solve our problem. I do not regret the purchase. I do feel that these would be an upgrade from traditional fold out RV stairs.
These are OK. They accomplished what I needed them for to be able to open put them out in my indoor storage unit. I am really having trouble getting them to align properly though. Now matter what I do, the legs rub against the left side of the door frame. I have everything centered and I have tried the alignment steps of the install multiple times, but still rub. They are pretty heavy and cumbersome to put out and in compared to the drawbridge steps. My wife likely will not do it anymore. LOL. But like I said, at least I can get into my trailer while in storage now. They are adequate quality, but kind of a high price tag for what you get IMO.
Love the stairs, but the box it came in was done for. Could barely move it, it was falling apart. Maybe time to review your packaging!
