Stable Replacement RV Steps That Make Contact With The Ground For 2016 Keystone Cougar Xlite

Updated 03/10/2025 | Published 03/13/2022

Question:

I am looking for the replacement bolts hardware kit for top step of Lippert 3 step LC432696. One of the original bolt sheared. The bolts are 1.5 inches long 3/16 by 16 thread pitch with a color on the top end. What other step options are available that make contact with the ground that offer more stable step platform?

Great questions.

I have solutions for both questions.

Lippert does not sell replacement bolts or hardware kits for this application you will be able to source the bolts you need from any local hardware store.

As for a replacement options I strongly recommend the MORryde StepAbove RV Steps for 23-3/4" to 26-1/4" Wide Doorways - 3 Steps # MR98RR. They are a solid step that offers great stability. No more worries if your steps are going snap off and cause a fall.

You just need to make sure you get the right size. Measure your doorway width and entryway height from the ground. I will link a chart to help you pick the right step. If you have any more questions about this process reply back and we can help you further.

I have a 24 inch wide doorway on a 2022 rpod 196. At first, it looks like the 3 step mr98rr would work - but the rpod entrance is lower to the ground, roughly 21 1/4 to 21 1/2 inches. Should i go with the 2 steps insrtead of 3? Thank you.

@DavidC Hello David. It looks like all the MorRyde Steps require a higher entry height than your 21 1/4. I would go with the Flexco Manual Pull-Out Steps for RVs - Double - 8" Drop/Rise - 20" Wide - 300 lbs # SMFP-2120. The # SMFP-2120 are 20" wide are require and fit an entry height 19"-22". I attached a review video, please let me know what you think about them.

@KateF thanks for your response. This is what we have now and seems unstable and shakes the camper. Will continue looking for stairs that will reach the ground.

@DavidC Hey David, I have a step that might work for you. The problem is that there is not a way for you to get to the product page because it is no longer available, but we have 3 dinged ones for sale. I am going to send you a private email with pictures of the dinged ones and the specs. So please look out for my email.
