Adam: Hi everyone, Adam with Etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Surf Pads. What they're going to do is just going to protect your boards from any scratches or abrasions and just give you a nice cushioned pad to load up all your gear, whether it be a paddleboard, as you see here, or you could have a surfboard or two, whatever it is. It's definitely going to take care of your goods just so they don't get damaged.These surf pads are going to come in two different sizes. We do have the 30 inch one installed right now. It's pretty much an ideal length for our paddleboard here, but we also do have a 20 inch one as well.
As you can see here, it's not going to span the whole width of our paddleboard, so be sure to check the width of your surfboard or paddleboard before you buy. Both sizes are going to have a nylon construction and they are going to resist against UV, so you can be rest assured that it won't fade over time. They do have an integrative no slip grip on top, so you can be rest assured that your boards will have optimal grip and they'll stay on your roof whenever you're hauling them around.As you can see here, these surfboard pads, they are only going to sit up about an inch and a half. It's definitely going to get you a lot less height added to your vehicle whenever you're hauling anything around. Another thing I thought about, a lot of these paddleboards, you can get them where they're air filled.
With these pads, it's going to give a little bit more give than just our hard crossbars. It's going to be a little bit easier on there, so you don't have to worry about popping them whenever you're strapping them down.We do have the wing bar Evos on here now. They're going to be compatible with these on top of the AeroBlades, the ProBars and the Xsporter Pros. Those are just the Thule style crossbars that they will be compatible with. If you have another brand that has relative the same shape, they'll work with those as well.
These are, in my opinion, extremely easy to install. You don't need any tools, it's just three hook and loops underneath and it wraps around your bars. It's an extremely economical choice as well. It's really easy, so let's just go ahead and show you.The first thing you want to do is just undo these hook and loops, there is going to be three of them. Once we get all those undone here, we can go ahead and throw it up top on our bar and then wrap these underneath.
I always usually favor the passenger side just in case I'm on the highway and I have to pull over and check and make sure everything's nice and secure still. Then, we can go ahead and do the same exact thing for our back bar.Then, we can go ahead and load up our board. Once you get your board up and into place, you can go ahead and strap them down. We do have a lot of different straps to choose from. If you don't have any, go on Etrailer.com and pick some out that's right for you. These that we picked here are going to be Thule and they kind of match my board, which I kind of like.Well everyone, that's going to do it for our look at the Thule Surf Pads.

I bought two sets of these for a tracRac ladder rack. I actually used the ladder rack for hauling two kayaks. I bought the padding to cushion the cross bars do i wouldnt dent my kayaks. These ate easy to use. You simply install in minutes and holds on the cross bars with industrial strength velcro. The material that the pads are made of are a canvas like heavy duty material. I think these ate made very well and to date show no signs of wear and tear. Definitely reccomend these pads.
Quick and easy. Only thing is both times the rack pads came in a oversized box. Seems like we could scale that down. ;)
