Inno Multi Cradle Kayak Carrier on truck

The Inno Multi Cradle kayak carrier transports 1 sit-on-top or other heavy kayak hull side up on your vehicle's roof rack. The saddles are easy to load from the side of your vehicle, and they have soft rubber padding to protect your kayak during transport. Two tie-down straps are included to secure your boat to your crossbars, and the saddles install without tools.

Easy Side Loading

The saddle-style cradles are easy to load from the side of your vehicle. Simply lift your kayak up and onto the roof and slide it into place hull side up. The cradles can be adjusted along your crossbars to ensure the kayak is resting flat on the saddle base pads. Loading your kayak hull side up helps to keep it balanced and reduces wind drag during transport.

Two 13' long straps are included to secure your kayak to your crossbars. Just loop the straps around your crossbars and your kayak and pull them tight with the cam buckles. The buckles have pads to protect your kayak's hull from scratches and abrasions. Bow/stern tie-downs (sold separately) are recommended to anchor the kayak to your vehicle's front and rear bumper.

Simple Installation

Video Transcript for Inno Multi Cradle Kayak Carrier Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Inno Multi-Cradle Kayak Carrier, part number INA452. Inno does not include bow and stern tie downs and it is not required, however, under certain driving conditions, it is recommended, so please see your Inno manual for more information on that. This Inno Multi-Cradle Kayak Carrier system allows us to carry one kayak safely and secure on the roof of our vehicle. It uses universal mounting hardware, so it's going to fit around your round, square, aero, elliptical and most factory roof rack systems just as long as our cross bar spread is greater than 27 inches. Each cradle itself has a thick rubber textured pad that's going to prevent our kayak from shifting while we're driving down the road. It's also going to protect our kayak's finish and keep it from getting scratched. The cradle's are completely adjustable along our crossbars here, so we're going to be able to fit a wide variety of kayak sizes.

Now that we've gone over some of the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to install it. All of our pads are the same, so we don't need to worry about any certain way to position them, just as long as our pad faces towards the center. We'll just go ahead and start right here. You just want to place it on top, so then we'll grab our bottom clamp, we'll go underneath our crossbars, then we're going to take one of our thumbscrews, drive that through the top and simply screw that in place. Once we got that on there, go ahead and take another thumbscrew and do the same thing on this side. Then we can tighten those down evenly.

We want to make sure also that the cradle sits evenly on our crossbars. As you can see right here it is. We'll tighten that down, make sure it's nice and secure. Let's grab another one. We'll roughly place this in the same spot. One more thing, on the bottom clamp you want to make sure the padded portion is facing up to go underneath and how it's arched like this to go just like this underneath our crossbar.

We'll just repeat that same step. That looks pretty good. Let's go ahead and finish our last two. Now for this side, we're just going to install them just enough to where you can still move them around on our crossbars, because we're not sure what size our kayak is, so there's no reason to tighten them down all the way just yet. We're just going to leave them nice and wide, that way we can grab our kayak and just kind of gently set it on our crossbars.

We'll go ahead and grab our kayak. We want to make sure that the opening is face down, that way the cradles can grip the kayak a little bit better. We'll set it on there, it's going to kind of work it's way. Let's go ahead and hop up here and finish working it on. Now we'll go over to the other side and check our cradles. As you can see, we just need to go in a little bit on both of them, so we've left them just enough loose to where we can just push it into place. Let's tighten that down and do the other one. There we go and then we've got it. Let's go ahead and strap it down. Inno has provided us with two cam buckle straps and two pads. The way the pads are designed, is so our cam buckle doesn't scratch our kayak. We'll simply just take the long portion of the pad and run the strap through this way and just pull that all the way through. As you can see, it provides a nice cushion for our cam buckle. Now we can just let that down for a minute. We'll take the other end of our strap and run that underneath our crossbar in front of our cradle. Bring that up, toss that over the other side and then we'll take our cam buckle and bring that end over as well. Let's set that right on top. Now we'll do the same with our other strap and then we'll run over there and tighten them down. We'll take our strap without the cam buckle, run that underneath our crossbar here and then back up through the cam buckle. Then we can pull that nice and tight and then as you can see, it provides good padding so our cam buckle doesn't make contact with our kayak. We'll do the same on the other side. With our kayak secure, let's finish up by tying up our excess strap and then we're ready to hit the road. Now that we've got it all loaded up, let's go ahead and take it out on our test course and see how it performed. Here on our test course, let's first go into our slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action such as going around corners or evasive maneuvering. Then onto our alternating speed bumps, this is going to show a twisting action, such as going over potholes or over uneven pavement. Then finally onto our solid speed bumps, this is going to show an up and down action such as coming in and out of a driveway or out of a parking garage. That's going to complete our look at the Inno Multi-Cradle Kayak Carrier, part number INA452. .

I purchased a car rack system as well as the kayak carrier and it arrived in only two days! It was easy to put on and fits my 2013 Hyundai Tucson Limited perfectly. I picked up my new kayak the next day and mad it home with no issue what so ever. I am very satisfied with this product. 275211

  • Recommendations for a Roof Rack and Accessories on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • I have a solution for your roof rack carrying needs whichever season it may be. First lets start with the rack that will custom fit your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Since you have the flush roof rails that run front to back I recommend the Inno Roof Rack # INTR, # INB127, and the custom fit kit # INTR132 to complete your rack setup. These parts will give you the bars, mounts, and fit kit to attach everything to your vehicles roof. According to Inno this product should be used on vehicles...

  • Inno Square Bar Roof Rack for 2003 Mercury Mountaineer
  • In order to get the longer bars, you'd order the parts separately. You'd need the roof rack feet, part # INFR and the # INB147. There won't be a cost difference by ordering the feet and crossbars separately. Inno also offers quite a few accessories that are compatible with the rack. A fairing like # INA260 would make the rack more aerodynamic, reducing the wind noise. For a rack mounted bike rack, take a look at # INA387 fork-mount rack. For a kayak carrier, check out # INA452. • Recommended Roof Rack And Kayak Carrier Recommendation for 2013 Chevy Spark
  • To install a reasonably priced roof rack on your 2013 Chevy Spark, I'd recommend an Inno square bar roof rack, which would consist of the following parts: 46 Inch Long Square Crossbars, part # INB117 Square Crossbar Feet, part # INSUT Vehicle Specific Clamp Kit, part # INK616 Although they're reasonably priced, square bar roof racks can be a little noisy.
