Video Transcript for Solera Awning Cradle Support Feature Review

Hey guys, Kevin here with etrailer. And today we're gonna be taking a look at Solera's Awning Cradle Support. If you have an awning that's 21 feet or larger from Solera, then Solera does recommend installing the cradle arm support. And what this support does is as your roller tube comes in when you're closing your awning, it's gonna sit on this lip and pop up into place. And what that's gonna do is help hold it right in the center of the awning and provide just that extra support so that your roller tube isn't kind of bowing up and down. You don't have to worry about it bending and losing it's shape over time because it's gonna have that extra help holding it up in place.

Whereas, your arms can only grab it from the sides. Solera does recommend using this for anything 21 feet or larger. But you can always use this for anything smaller if you just want that extra stability and support for your awning while it's closed up and in travel. It does come in black or white so that you can match the aesthetics of your trailer. With ours today, we're gonna be putting a black one on just because kind of goes along with the aesthetics of this one.

With that being said, it does not offer any hardware so you will have to source that locally. I do recommend also picking up some butyl tape and placing it on the back. That way, the mounting screws that you use aren't gonna leak any water into the wall of your trailer. But let's go ahead and show you how I installed it. Start off we're gonna go ahead and put some butyl tape on here.

Get that pressed in nice and tight. And we can then peel back our backing, and stick one on the other side as well for our other mounting hole. And now we can take our mounting screws. I just have two self-tapping screws, and a little washer on it to kinda give it a little bit more strength here. So now we can climb up our ladder and get this in place.

So our next step is gonna be determining the placement of it. So I wanna put it in the center of my awning roller tube, which lines up right about here which basically comes up with the flange with our little patio right here. So what I'm gonna do is I'm just gonna set this gently up against here. I'm gonna have our little lip here up against the roller tube. I don't wanna press up on it, I don't wanna put any tension on it forcing it up. It's just here to kinda hold it in place, and then we can go ahead and kinda press on our bracket. And that butyl tape that we put on is also gonna help hold it in place while we screw it. And we can go ahead and put in our lower screw first. And this is while our awning is still closed. Now we can go ahead. I'm gonna open this up, and then we can get access to that top screw and put that in place. Now we can go ahead. Now we have some space and get our second screw set. And now we can test it out by rolling our awning in and out. Now that we've tested it out and we know that it's going to easily allow our awning to extend out for use, and then also come back in and roll back up with our little lip here and be supported for travel, that'll pretty much do it for our installation and our look at Solera's Awning Cradle Support. My name's Kevin. Thanks for watching..

Easy to install and provides the needed support for long awnings.

Works great!

When we first brought our new trailer home I didn't notice that there was a sag in the awning when stowed. Our trailer is now just over a year old and the sag has become very noticable. I went to my local RV sales location and the parts guy didn't know what I was talking about. At home on my computer, I brought up E-Trailer and quickly found the Solara awning cradle. The price was very reasonable and shipping was fast. I will install the support in the coming days.

The “C” shape catches the awning and doesn’t let the awning retract tightly. If someone made an “S” shaped support (that would allow the awning to slide over the lower edge of the mount) I’d buy it in a heartbeat. This one is ok for what it is. The basic design could be so much better with a little thought…

by:

The product appears exactly as described and as usual e-trailer’s customer service is great.

by:

Fast shipping even forUSPS. Works great, but I did have to get creative. I used 3/8” spacers where the screws go being that we have aluminum siding on our RV.

Works great.

  • What Length of Screw is Needed to Install the Solera Awning Cradle Support
The Solera Awning Cradle Support # LC289373 does not come with any of the mounting hardware. When installing the support you will want to know where your backer is (such as a stud in the wall). While the support will not be bearing too much of the load, you will still want to make sure it is attached to a secure surface. A 1"-2" screw compatible with your backer material will get the job done. I also recommend some butyl tape to seal the bracket. You can pick up the RV Cable Hatch Installation...

  • Recommended Replacement For A Dometic Sunchaser Awning Model 834AV21.401
To replace your Polar Blue Horizon 21' Dometic Sunchaser awning you'll need the Solera XL 12V Power RV Awning - Blue Fade # LC75FR. At this length you'll want to also get a Solera Awning Cradle Support - White # LC289373 (black # LC289374) to help prevent the middle of the awning from sagging or wagging in the wind when on the road. You'll also want to pick up some butyl tape # AL28FJ to seal up each mounting screw hole while installing the awning.

  • Is There A Complete Solera Awning Kit For Available To Replace A 22' Dometic A&E Awning
The largest size we currently offer is 21', with 21' being spacing from center to center of the arms. The closest option in this size to what you're wanting would be the Solera XL 12V Power RV Awning # LCV000335015-362241, which has a black to white fade awning fabric. I recommend measuring your current arms from center to center to see what you have and then seeing if there would be an issue with sizing down to 21'. If you did switch over you could fill in the old mounting holes with some...

  • Support Bracket For A Solera Powered RV Awning
It sounds like you're talking about the Solera Awning Cradle Support - black # LC289374 (white # LC289373). This cradle helps hold the roller tube to the wall of the trailer when fully retracted and can prevent it from swaying in the wind. You'll also want to make sure that the awning arms fully retract and keep an eye on the fabric end that's attached to the c-channel on the wall of the trailer. If it starts to shift it can place more tension to one side allow the arms to start to bend...

  • Solera Awning Cradle Support, Black # LC289374 order
To install the cradle you want to find center point on the awning. Make sure you have backers. Laying the cradle under the awning while in the stored position. Using the cradle push up on the roll tube approximately 1/8 to a 1/4 inch and mount it there. Remember cradle is not required unless over 21 feet.

  • Will the Solera Awning Cradle Support Work With Any Awning
The Solera Awning Cradle Support part # LC289374 will work with any awning so fit should not be a concern as it is a very universal design. In regards to installation, the note about having backers simply means to be aware of the surface you are attaching the support to. The support will not really be bearing too much of a load but you will still want to make sure it is attached to a secure surface. That said, you won't need to contact the manufacturer to find where the backing is or anything...

  • Are There 19' Wide RV Awnings Available With Only An 8' Projection
We don't currently offer a complete kit with for an 19' awning with only an 8' projection so you would have to buy all the components separately or use the Solera XL 12V Power RV Awning - 19' Wide - 9'8" Projection - Black Fade # LCV000334966-362243 or White Fade # LCV000335007-362241. You're correct that these would have a 78" arm height so you'd want to measure your trailer to ensure these would fit. If not then you'll need the following components: Roller and Fabric Kit for 19' Solera...

  • Parts Needed To Swap To A 21' Awning On A Forest River Forester 2861DS
Hey Ken, In order to go larger you'll need the extrusion rail (top rail the fabric slips into at the wall) to cover the length of the awning, mounting hardware, butyl tape # AL28FJ, non-sag sealant # 344270341437-1, and some extra wiring to run from the new awning to either the existing switch or to install the new switch included with the # LC75FR. I would also recommend reaching out to Forest River and seeing if they'll give you a diagram of the stud layout so you can measure and make...

  • Replacement Awning Options For A 2021 Forest River Surveyor Legend 19RBLE
Hi William, Sorry to hear about your awning, but happy to help you find a replacement. Starting off you'll want to measure from the center of one arm to the center of the other arm because just going off of the roller tube will give you the wrong measurement. For some reason manufacturers set this as the standard instead of just going off of the length of the roller tube. I still would measure but with your roller tube being just over 20' I'm going to assume you have a 21' awning. If...
