Specs:
The Thule SUP Taxi XT lets you safely transport 1 or 2 paddleboards on your vehicle's roof rack. This carrier has telescoping saddles that slide along your crossbars to hold boards up to 34" wide. To carry 2 boards, just stack them on top of each other.
The saddles adjust easily to match the width of your boards. Simply push the integrated buttons on the halves with the locks and slide them along your crossbars to the desired position.
These saddles have soft, kraton padding that protects your boards during transport. This soft elastomer is UV-resistant so it can stand up to the summer sun.
The SUP Taxi XT has integrated, steel-reinforced straps that adjust to snugly secure your boards. The straps can be tightened or loosened by pulling them through spring-loaded cam-action doors on the saddle bodies. 2 Included One-Key System locks allow you to lock the doors closed over the straps. And built-in slots in the carrier contain excess strap length to prevent flapping as you drive.
The straps include soft, kraton pads that help grip your boards. This synthetic rubber protects your board rails against strap abrasion.
The included tie-down strap acts as an anchor, securing your SUP to your vehicle. This strap connects to a tie-down point on the tail of your board and hooks to your bumper. If you are carrying 2 boards, secure this strap to the bottom board.
You can quickly and easily install the SUP Taxi XT on almost any crossbar configuration with the convenient Speed-Link mounting system. The Speed-Link system includes rubber-coated, stainless-steel straps that wrap around your crossbars and tighten in place with hand knobs - no additional tools required. The Speed-Link clamps include 2 One-Key System locks that not only let you lock your carrier to your crossbars, but make it easy to lock all your Thule racks with the same key.

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule SUP Taxi XT Standup Paddle Board Carrier, part number TH810001. This Thule SUP carrier is going to allow us to transport up the two paddle boards on the roof of our vehicle. What sets this carrier apart from others is that it has an inverted arch design, which cradles our paddle boards, making it more safe and secure compared to a flat style. Two straps come over the top of our pedal boards, holding them in place. They also feature rubber pads. This is going to provide good grip and prevent damage during transport. The straps then run through the carrier and lock, and then the excess strap is stowed underneath. The nice thing about the locking mechanism is it's going to prevent anyone from removing our paddle boards from our carrier.
A tie down strap is also included to further secure our boards to the front of our vehicle. The push button is easy to operate. You'll simply unlock it, push it, and then we can guide our straps out.Let's go ahead and take off our paddle boards, so we can take a closer look at the carrier. With the paddle boards removed, you can see the saddles that they rest on. They're made out of a tough rubber.
They're going to provide excellent cushion while we're on the road. What also makes this carrier unique is that the saddles are telescoping. This is going to allow us to adjust it to fit our paddle boards. It's also going to make it easier to carry a variety of paddle boards. It's adjustable from 27", out to 34". The straps are permanently attached to a pivot wheel.
This is so it will accommodate the natural curvature of our paddle boards. When not in use, they stow within our carrier, just as they would if we we're carrying paddle boards. The carriers are held in place by four clamps, two clamps each. They feature a rubber-coated stainless steel strap. That way we get a nice tight, secure fit around our crossbar without causing any harm. They're going to work with your round, square, arrow, elliptical, and most factory roof rack systems, up to 3-1/2" wide.It uses what's called a speed link system, which allows you to install and remove the carrier in a timely manner, with no tools required.
You'll simply turn the knob to loosen or tighten the stainless steel rubber-coated strap. One clamp on each carrier is lockable. That way it cannot be removed from our roof rack system. It's also key to like to our other lock. That way we have less keys. If you'd like to, you have the option to pick up two additional locking cores for the other clamps. This is going to give you more security. See etrailer.com for your specific key to like lock. The whole system is made out of a black and silver, aluminum and high quality plastic. That way it's going to be durable and corrosion resistant.Customers on our site compare this to the Yakima SupDawg Standup Paddle Board Carrier. These carriers are very similar, in that they carry two boards and they both lock our boards to the carrier and they lock to the rack. That way they cannot be removed. Where they differ is how they're designed. The Yakima has that flat top look. It's not padded, whereas the Thule has that cradle design and it uses for padded saddles. The Yakima has a roller design, where the pedal boards can be easily loaded from the side without hassle, whereas the Thule, the easiest way is to load it from the back. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. I've already got my front one in place. Let's go ahead and center up our rear one. Now for this to safely work out, we need to be sure we have a minimum crossbar spread of 24". We've got about 27" here, so we're all set.Now when installing your paddle board carrier, you want to be sure that the locks are facing the side you wish to open it on. So we want to open it on her driver's side, this is how we're going to install it. Once you've got it into position, we'll bring the rubber strap underneath and connect it here. Once it's connected, we'll come around to the other side and tighten it up with the gray knob. Now there's no reason to over-tighten. Just get it nice and secure, and then repeat the same process on the opposite side. Once both carriers are installed, we can lock them up.To load up our paddle boards, we'll need to pull out our strap and slide out our saddle. To pull out the strap, you'll push in on the lock and guide that out. Then we can just kind of toss that over to the other side. To slide the saddle out, the button is located within the saddle. If you already know the width of your paddleboard, you can preset your saddles accordingly. If you are carrying two paddle boards, you'll need to load up the longest one first. We need to be sure that the fin is facing towards the front of the vehicle. So I'm going to load it up in the back. I'm going to rest it in place, and then just push it on. With our paddle board loaded up, let's adjust our saddles to fit. So we'll need to make sure that our paddle board is pushed all the way to the other side. From there, we can lift up on it slightly, push in on our button for our saddle and slide it to where it's going to fit, just like that. Now let's load up our second paddle board. This one loads up the same way. If you'd like to, you can put a pad or a towel down between the two. With our paddle boards in place, let's toss our straps back over. Then we can run our strap. We'll push in on our button, just to get it started. We'll get it most of the way through, straighten it up, make sure our rubber pads haven't moved. Then we can let go and pull it down to tighten it the rest of the way. Then we can repeat the same process on the other side.Once we've got both sides tightened down, we can store our excess strap within the carrier underneath. One thing to keep in mind, depending on where and how you position your paddleboard carriers and when you load up your paddle boards, you may or may not be able to open up your rear hatch. You can see with our current vehicle, we can open it up most of the way, which leaves us still plenty of room to remove any cargo or gear we might have with us.Once our paddle boards are loaded up, we can lock up our buttons. Now we need to tie down our pedal boards to the front of our vehicle. We can take our included rope, and if you're carrying two pedal boards, make sure you go with the one on top. We'll run it through its anchor point, and we're going to pull the rope down about halfway. For the other end of our rope, we can grab our included hook and tie a knot. Now the instructions show a specific knot to tie. That way it does not come undone. We'll need to attach it to a solid anchor point on our vehicle. For some vehicles that might just be as simple as a tow hook in the front. For others, you may need to find a secure attachment point underneath the hood, which is what we're going to do. It's not a problem. Just find a secure spot, pull the rope nice and tight and then close the hood. Then we can pull it nice and tight and then tie it off. Now it doesn't need to be extremely tight. This is just going to prevent lift in our paddle boards when we're traveling at high speeds. With everything secured, we're ready to head out and go paddle boarding. That's going to complete our look at the Thule SUP Taxi XT Standup Paddle Board Barrier, part number TH810001.
