We needed a carrier solution that folded down easily because of our garage door height. The Malone Pro2 Kayak Carrier has performed flawlessly over the past year. The kayaks remain stable and never shift even at freeway speeds. The foam blocks fit our crossbar well and offered a rattle free ride, which is nice. The one drawback to this system is how difficult it can be to actually route the straps. Without a ladder, it can be nearly impossible to get the strap over the kayak and hooked into the carrier properly. After you find a system that works for you, it becomes easier but I still think that the stationary carriers are more user friendly in that regard. 671764

Ordered and received three products; a Yakima DoubleDown 4 bike rack, a Yakima hitchlock, and a Malone Stax Pro kayak carrier. The website contained a ton of information which allowed me to make an informed decision re which type/model and manufacturer of each item to choose. Ordering was simple and I received the items on the estimated date of delivery. I detected a manufacturing flaw in one of he items, however when I contacted the manufacturer the customer rep immediately shipped me the necessary parts and tools to repair the item. The installation of the rack and carrier was simple, especially having observed the videos on the etrailer website. Thus far we have transported two adult bicycles on the Yakima DoubleDown and the ride was very smooth as if there was no rack or bikes. We have also transported one kayak using the Malone carrier system and like the bike rack, the ride was very smooth and quiet as if there was no 10' kayak on the roof. The bike rack is on our 2015 Subaru Forester and the kayak carrier on our 2010 Chrysler Town and Country. Overall a very good experience and I would highly recommend etrailer and the Yakima DoubleDown and the Malone Staxx kayak carrier system (as well as purchasing the HitchLock to prevent the theft of the rack and bikes!). 410124

I have had these for 1 year now and have used them several times. They have worked exactly as advertised. Keeps my kayaks secure and once you have the process of mounting down it is pretty easy. Nice product. 876089

This is a one-year anniversary of purchasing the hitch for my Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. I've kind of had time to forget how painful it was to crawl around under my car for a couple of hours, struggling to tighten the last bolt. But now it all feels worth it. I got a solid hitch that looks great and works great for way less than I would have if I had the dealer install it. Worth some discomfort lying on the ground cursing tight spaces on the underside of my car. 829961

  • Differences Between Rhino Rack Kayak Carrier # RRS520 and Malone Kayak Carrier # MPG115MD
The Rhino Rack Kayak Carrier part # RRS520 and the Malone Stax kayak carrier part # MPG115MD are both very similar but the big reason the Malone is listed for only 2 kayaks is because it comes with two foam blocks for kayaks to rest on and then the Rhino Rack does not come with the blocks so it's possible to add additional kayaks without carrying them in a different way. Either will work great on a Malone roof rack as well.

  • Kayak Carrier Options that Can Fit TracRac Truck Bed Ladder Rack
The load bars of the TracRac ladder racks are much thicker than standard roof rack crossbars which allows them to have the higher weight capacity but also is what prevents roof rack accessories that need to wrap around the bar from fitting. But the kayak carrier solutions that fit into the top channel of crossbars like the Rhino Rack Nautic 580 # RR580 will work so this would be your best solution. We do have one foam block solution that can fit around the TracRac load bars with the...

The Malone Stax Pro2 Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - Post Style part # MPG115MD does not have padding between the top of the bar and the post style karrier. The part that attaches to the bar is just plastic. There are rubber grips on the bottom portion of the hardware that attaches the post to the crossbar so that is doesn't move but there is not any padding. • With the Malone Stax Pro Kayak Carrier # MPG115MD Carry a Kayak Longer than 10'
The Malone Stax Pro Kayak Carrier # MPG115MD actually doesn't have a kayak length limit. I reached out to my contact at Malone who said that the limits for the Stax Pro include a width capacity of 32" and a weight capacity of 50 lbs per boat.

  • Recommended Carrier for Transporting 4 Kayaks on 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
The Malone Stax Pro2 Kayak Carrier # MPG115MD lists a 2 kayak capacity as determined by the manufacturer. You could technically add another kayak on each side of the posts by using some additional Foam Blocks # MPG168 but this hasn't been tested so I don't recommend doing this. As you mentioned this particular carrier features a 50 pound capacity per boat anyway so it would not work for your application. Your best option is going to be with the Thule Stacker # TH830, which features...

  • Best Ways to Add a 2 Kayak Carrier to a 2017 Ford Escape Roof
Primarily, this depends on how you plan to carry the weight of the kayaks. The 2014 Ford Escape is rated for a maximum recommended load of 100lbs on the vehicle if it does not have a moon roof, and 40lbs if it does. This puts quite a cap on the amount of weight that the vehicle can carry, as this limit includes any carrier and crossbar solution that you are planning on using, plus the weight of the kayaks. You'll want to invest in a full roof rack system. Primarily, the ease...

  • Best Way to Carry Two Kayaks on the Roof of a 2016 Ford Escape
I do have an option for you but it is very unlikely that you would be able to use two of the Malone SeaWing Kayak Carriers part # MPG107MD side by side on the roof of your 2016 Ford Escape. Instead, I recommend using an upright carrier like the Malone Stax Pro Kayak Carrier part # MPG115MD.
