Specs:
The Malone AirFlow2 roof rack lets you carry gear and accessories on the roof of your with raised, factory side rails. This complete roof rack system includes 2 aluminum, aerodynamic crossbars and 4 towers. The full-length crossbars extend past the towers to give you more mounting space for carriers, and the towers have built-in locks to protect the rack from theft. The rack clamps onto your raised side rails and tightens down with the included tool, so it's easy to remove and install.
Aerodynamic Shape
The AirFlow2's Aerodynamic shape helps control air flow over and under the bar to significantly decrease wind noise and vibration even at highway speeds. This decreases the need to add a fairing to your roof rack. The aero-style bar also reduces drag and helps maintain fuel efficiency.
Lightweight, Aluminum Crossbars
The silver crossbars are made of aluminum, which makes them strong, lightweight, and resistant to corrosion. The bars also have plastic endcaps to protect the interiors from the elements and to give your roof rack a finished look.
Durable Towers with Built-In Security
The towers are made of molded nylon that won't fade or wear down when exposed to the elements. Each tower includes a nylon cover with a built-in lock to deter would-be thieves from removing the rack from your roof. The covers also protect the towers' interior and hardware from the elements.
Easy Installation with Rubber-Coated Steel Clamps
The towers attach to your 's raised, factory side rails with rubber-coated steel clamps. The rubber coating provides a superior grip on your side rails and protects them from damage during installation and use.
To tighten, simply turn the bolt inside the tower assembly with the included installation tool until the clamps are snug. Once assembled, the towers and crossbars stay together as one unit, which makes removing, storing, and reinstalling the system a snap. To remove, simply remove the cover and loosen the bolts inside the towers with the installation tool.
Channel and Clamp-On Accessories
These crossbars have built-in top channels with strips that allow you to carry channel-mounted accessories on your roof. You can remove, trim, and re-insert the strips around the mounting hardware of your accessories to keep the crossbar channel capped and quiet.
Maximum Cargo Carrying Capacity
The AirFlow2 includes full-length crossbars that extend past the towers. The increased length gives you more space to mount accessories and carriers to your roof rack. The bars are compatible with most universal, clamp-on accessories and carriers.

Full-length aluminum crossbars maximize carrying capacity. Includes locks.I have had these for about a year now and they work great. I have a set of Malone fold away kayak racks that I use on them. I am quite happy with both Malone products.
I've had these on my car for a year now. They are decent for the money and I think they look pretty good too. One very weak point is the plastic end caps. They snap on and are flimsy. I lost one in short order and broke another one sliding a sheet of plywood over it. It would not be hard for them to design a better cap that is fastened better to the rails. I 3D printed new ones that work great and installed with a screw.

I use the racks often and they have held up very well. My 3D printed caps also have held up. I hope the company improves those.
If my rating was based only on the ordering process, USPS would get negative 5 stars and etrailer maybe 1 star. The order was fulfilled the same day and tracking info forwarded to me. USPS: "Label created, awaiting order". One week later: "Label created, awaiting order". I contacted Jamea at etrailer, who stated that they would only request a trace w. USPS after 10 biz days (two weeks). USPS after two weeks: "Label created, awaiting order" . . . etrailer finally puts a trace on it w. USPS. The package was sitting in Puerto Rico(!!!!!). Two weeks later, I received the order in NY. So, one month from Arkansas to NY. The order was left at my door in the pouring rain, box open (my wife was home at the time). See photo.
Fortunately, all hardware was still in the box and the crossbars unharmed.
The crossbars are fine and the quality is decent; however, a few minor issues w. installation: 1) Malone provides an optional rubber insert for the exposed slot underneath the crossbars after installation, purportedly to lower wind noise. Instructions say to cut the rubber insert to size, then "press insert into exposed slot". Simply pressing it in, after installation, proved impossible - you must cut it to length, then slide it in from one of the bar ends. Not difficult, but this involves removing the installed bar, removing one of the clamp assemblies, sliding in the rubber insert, sliding the clamp back into the bar, and then re-installing the bar to the vehicle. This wouldn't have been a big deal if I hadn't loosened/unscrewed the adjuster too far . . . which resulted in having to perform "surgery" (taking apart the clamp assembly) to get the bolt to mate with the end nut. Of course, the entire assembly sprung apart when I did that (DON'T do that!). Two hours (!) later, both bars were reinstalled and all was well 2) the rubber "boots" around the clamps are a bit fidgety and you have to be careful to get them seated correctly, but once seated, they are fine 3) having the allen key incorporated in the clamp locking mechanism is a great idea, but with the longer 58" bars, tightening/loosening the clamp is a pain since the bar interferes with fully turning the allen key. Not a big deal, just aggravating. I ended up using a longer allen key I just happened to have in my toolbox.
So: item is of decent quality for the price and works just fine. Although etrailer was quick to respond re: shipping issues, they could have requested a trace from USPS earlier. I had given myself a two-week window from submitting the order to leaving on my planned trip. One month later, after the package wandered around who knows where in the USPS system (well, I know it visited Puerto Rico), I was already back from my trip before the package arrived, soaking wet and open, at my house. Lesson learned - have it shipped with another carrier, even if it means paying an extra fee!
Love this set of cross bars-use them for kayaks and to hold my rooftop tent without any worries.also put my Thule xl car top carrier on with out any

Still holding up with no issues.been on thru out the hot summer and multiple trips thru the car wash.would highly recommend
This product is great given the price. The end caps is definitely a weak point. But once you have a customer support such as that of etrailer, you're in good hands. They listen to what the customer is saying and provide an easy and fast replacement.

I bought these for a specific type of load that has a pull force directed up and out. This force is bigger during the loading and less when en route. I used the T-tracks to secure the mounting brackets. The bars noticeably flex upwards but seem to hold strong. Theyve been through 4 long trips so far. Good quality and craftsmanship. The end caps can use better plastic, but anyway the price is right.
Beware anyone with a Gen 5 Outback. Doesn’t fit on Subaru Outback 2016. Was assured it was a fit for my vehicle on the website and I even emailed eTrailer to make sure. Got a response from an associate “yes, these will fit.” Now I have to pay $34 shipping to return.
The tower clamps fit around factory crossbars when they are swung closed but due to the factory raised plastic rails the Malone crossbars can only fit towards the middle of the roof and would only be spaced 15in apart. Useless.
Seems like a good product, but etrailer should not list these bars as a fit for this vehicle.

The Subaru Outbacks will limit the cross bar to less than 24 inches. This will limit what can be carried as any crossbar spread under 24 inches should not be used to carry kayaks, ladders or other long items.
These work really well. After shopping around a bit, these were the best value (price) without being of poor quality. They're really well built, strong, and fit my 2019 GMC Acadia SLT(2) nicely. I opted for the 58" version with the idea that I could haul (2) 15' Kayaks. The boats go on very nicely and the extra width helps me keep them off the vehicle. I also purchased a decent T-Slot ski carrier that had great reviews and hauled 6 pairs to VT last winter from MD. The extra length may not appeal to some. If so, get the smaller version. I believe in Function. So the 58's are right by me. Reviews I read on these complained about the end caps getting lost, coming off, etc. I could see that happening. When I installed them, I ran two passes of electrical tape on the end caps to secure them. I replace it every time I open the end caps - switching from ski to kayak season. These bars have remained tight to the vehicle after 1 year. They show little signs of wear too. I'm a "spirited" driver. They've hung on very well. There is some road noise from them. But I also enjoy music - so that doesn't bother me in the least. Take your time installing and gently tighten as you go. I think that is a big part of the installation. Overall - excellent product, priced incredibly well against the big names, accepts T-Slot accessories, and more. I'm happy. Good luck!
Malone AirFlow2 is great so far, excellent value in my opinion. Ordered replacement bottom rubber strip about a year after initial purchase of the AirFlow: was easy to replace it which cuts down significantly on wind noise.
I just got my hands on this amazing product and I'm still grinning from ear to ear! The shipping was fast, and I was blown away by the top-notch quality of the product. It fit my Jeep Renegade like a glove, and I was stoked to see how seamlessly it integrated into my vehicle.
The instructions were also super clear and easy to follow, making the setup process a breeze. I mean, who doesn't love a hassle-free experience? It was like a puzzle, and I was thrilled to see all the pieces come together smoothly.
But what really sets this product apart is the quality of the materials and construction. I've had my fair share of disappointing experiences with cheaply made crossbars in the past, which always left me worried about their safety and durability. My old crossbars were flimsy and prone to rattling, even whistling in the wind, making me nervous every time I hit the road. But these new crossbars are a game-changer - they're sturdy, secure, and designed to withstand the rigors of frequent use.
In contrast, my old crossbars were a constant source of frustration. They were always creaking and groaning, and I had to constantly adjust them to make sure they were securely in place. But with these new crossbars, I can confidently load up my gear and hit the road without worrying about any issues. And speaking of gear, I've already put these crossbars to the test with my J racks and kayaks - they fit perfectly and stayed securely in place during our last trip.
We're planning a trip to Colorado next week, and I'm excited to add a luggage carrier on top of my Jeep Renegade. With this new crossbar system, I'm not nervous at all like I was with previous trips with my old crossbars. Overall, I had an absolute blast with this product. It's been a game-changer for me, and I'm so glad I took the leap. If you're on the fence about trying it out, trust me - you won't regret it. The quality is exceptional, the fit is perfect, and the setup is a cinch. Five stars isn't enough - I'd give it ten stars if I could!
It worked great with my Chevrolet Traverse. I used a roof carrier on it and drove from coast to coast twice with no issues. There is a very tiny bit of whistling when really windy but not disturbing in any way.
I have ordered several products from etrailer and been happy with them all. One of the plastic endcap was broken on this one and they sent me four additional endcaps free of charge. The customer service is spot on.!! Thanks, Alex!
I use this mostly to get lumber from a local lumberyard. It's sturdy and easy to attach to my Crosstrek's roof rack when I need it.
I wish there was a 54" or so intermediate length available. I was concerned that 4x8 foot sheets of plywood might pop the end caps off a 50" width, but the 58" length sticks out farther than I like on this smaller car.
These were exactly what I was looking for, they have been able to handle my needs with no issues at all. They have support two kayaks and my fishing poles with ease and I love the way they look. Great investment.
This kayak tie-down kit was easy to use and kept our kayaks secure. Compared to other sites, it was also a quality product for a better price on etrailer.
The 58" Malone MPG216 bars replaced a set of 58" Malone Steel bars. The new bars feel sturdier and a definitely quieter. The fit and finish is great, except for one bar end that doesn't fit as tightly as it should. I put my Yakima Skybox 21 on top of them and they did the job. My only complaint is that they already have a slight bend after being loaded with just 140 lbs. I expected a bend to occur later in the year since the top box stays on for 6 months out of the year, but not after just one road trip. But, there was no movement from the bars or the box at all during the 1600 mile trip. So far, so good.

The Yakima skybox is about 70 lbs on its own. The weight capacity of the roof rack is 165 lbs. If you are putting 140 lbs worth of cargo in the box, plus the weight of the box itself on the bars that is 210 lbs. The bars will bend if they have 210 lbs of weight on them. Please make sure you are taking into account the weight of the box on the bars as well.
etrailer was great to work with. They are very responsive with emails and following up with tracking. I was little disappointed with the average ship time. It was almost like the product didn't get out the door until a week later, but I did get the product in working condition. As for the product quality the only complaint I had was the procedure/instructions for installing. I would totally recommend putting the rubber trim piece in the bottom of the rail during the first part of installation. Don't be afraid to slide that piece in the rail and cut it to size once it hits the end of the rail where it touches the mount. Its easy to cut and this piece is crucial to making the rails very quiet. I installed the first time without it and the wife hated me for installing these. We both looked at each other during the first drive test and said that whistle noise has to go! After installing the trim in the rail these rails were perfect for what I needed. It just needed a better instruction for installing it to top quality. I also recommend you put the trim in the first time because those side black pieces are plastic and they take a special kind of push in on the clip and pull to remove without breaking the clip. I broke my first clip but after that I was able to remove the other successfully. So because of the poor instructions and the removal of the rail to finish installing correctly I am now looking for a plastic end for one of my rails. Overall pretty good and durable. I also wish the instructions explained that when you tighten the mount that it also tightens on the rail too. Maybe I needed to watch a couple more videos about installing these before doing it.

I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. I recommend watching the video installation that we have on a 2013 Ford Explorer. The end caps are available as a separate part.
I just received the 58" Aero crossbars from these guys for my Subaru forester they fit great and although I haven't loaded them yet, I know they will work perfect!

They are working out great for me, Ive carried 250lbs. of steelover the side rails!
-2015 Nissan Pathfinder.
-Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Aero Crossbars - Raised, Factory Side Rails - Aluminum - 58" Long.
This is my first ever roof rack so I am by far no expert. I researched many roof racks and I just couldn't see spending 500, 600, or over $700 on an accessory. The installation is not nearly as easy as some would think, in my opinion. However, I am anal and meticulous about every detail. I put the roof rack rail on and got everything into place with measurements (width between them, how much they stick out, etc). Then I mark the underneath of the racks for the rubber to go so I could cut it precisely (you slide in the rubber...although I think some cramped the rails down and then stuffed the rubber in).
Pros:
-Look at my vehicle...I think they look amazing...especially for the price.
-Everything is very firm and doesn't move after proper installation.
-Matches chrome on car and current cross bars
Cons:
-End caps are cheaply made, but I didn't have any problem getting them to snap in. Get a higher grade plastic or something
-Directions that were provided were sparse and you kind of have to figure it out on your own, which wasn't too difficult.
-THE NOISE is my biggest complaint. It's not terrible but enough to annoy me. These are advertised as "Airflow2" so come on. And I'm no aerodynamics professor but shouldn't the more narrow end be pointed toward the wind, not the fat end? Maybe a moonroof visor would help the noise...I don't know.
3.5 - 4 out of 5 because of the noise and because of the cutting and cheap end caps. But for the money, I think they're worth it. Good luck to your purchase and installation...it's not too bad. :)

Unfortunately, any time a piece of equipment is installed on a vehicle roof, there is going to be wind noise, its unavoidable. Airfoil-shaped crossbars like those on the Malone rack you purchased are actually much more quiet than the older square or round-profiled crossbars. The crossbars are indeed meant to be installed so that the thicker end is pointed forward to the wind, just like an aircraft wing. To keep the wind noise to a minimum, its important that the entire length of the slots in the underside of the crossbar are filled with the provided rubber strips .
These are great racks at a great price. They fit perfectly on my 2023 Subaru Forester Wilderness. I routine carry multiple whitewater kayaks with them.
Another great purchase from eTrailer. I was looking at the 50" and noticed that it did not have a recommendation for my car. I checked further and found that the 58" had a recommendation. I'm glad that I followed this. It fit perfect. The 50" would have been just a half inch too short. They include a rubber strip to fill in the gap between the mounts on the bottom. Be sure and put this in place, even in the ends past the mounts. The purpose is to stop the wind noise, picture blowing across a soda bottle, you want to stop that at any frequency.
Installing was quite easy, I did it in about 30 minutes. Take your time, measure and all will fit perfect.
I will keep coming back to eTrailer.com, the rack was a perfect fit, as were all of my other purchases. Trailer hitch for a Outback another for this Ascent, trailer electrical for both cars. I'm impressed that for a relatively new model year, everything is a perfect fit. I've tried others without such clean results.
Now off to get some lumber.
Okay, etrailer seems to be okay so far.
Just installed the Malone airflow 2 and it took way to long. I had trouble getting the boots on the rail system. After trying one side then the other, it still took a while to loosen or tighten, trying both ways till they finally went on.
Bottom line, I had to work with it to long to get them on the rail system, but after I did! It seems okay. I honestly am not wanting to go through the hassle of taking them off and putting them on over and over. Cutting the rubber inserts for the bottom for wind noise may make that experience okay if it keeps the boots from moving when taking the rails off.
Also thought I had one the book break on me but it’s technically not broke. Here is a picture.

Thank you for your feedback. I reached out to Malone and the roof rack should be easy to take on and off. I will have our customer service team reach out to you.
Very impressive hardware, instructions, and service at 1/2 to 1/3 the competition's cost. (Correction: there really IS no competition.) I tossed the rack onto my 2011 Honda Odyssey OEM roof rack without tightening anything to see how it all fits together, and was very pleased. I figured out how to fabricate a simple, elegant, low-profile, non-invasive, barely noticeable (it's my wife's minivan, after all) roller so I could easily slide my 12' kayak on top by myself. I planned exactly how to tie the kayak's nose and tail down securely without any mods to her van. I bought all the pieces and parts to do all the above, but before I got out my tools and mounted everything, I asked myself "Is there any way this kayak will fit securely inside the Honda with all the doors and windows closed?" The answer was, "Yes", so the rack is now gathering dust due to no fault of its own. It's inexpensive enough (try saying that about any of its "competition") that I'll keep it anyway in case I buy a longer kayak some day or need to mount the rack on some other vehicle.
When shopping for any related products now, I don't even look at any other brand or source. I now trust Malone and E-Trailer to provide the optimal combination of product, price, and service. I have no connection to Malone or ETrailer, and paid full price, but when a company or product performs this well, I want to help get the word out for everyone's benefit.

Its been a year now, and Its still gathering dust because the kayak fits inside my wifes minivan. I fabricated a solid, simple, diagonal, low-effort, one-man mounting system on the back of my motor home, and the kayak fits inside my Outback with only a couple of feet sticking out of the partially opened tailgate. I got lucky no exhaust fumes get inside and the sound and heatcool systems work fine even on long highway trips in hot and cold weather. I dont feel I wasted my money, though, because this experience taught me three things: 1. eTrailer is great to work with. 2. Malones products are so exceptionally well designed, constructed, and priced that theyre the first brand I look at when buying anything in their line of products. 3. If I ever need to mount this rack on another vehicle, Im confident that Malone makes a solid mounting bracket to fit it.
Fit my '08 Highlander perfectly and I've had no issues at all carrying our kayak on them.
I bought these over a year ago, we use them on our 2022 chevy traverse. There were super simple to install, and unlike many of the other options for this car, they are low profile and very aesthetically pleasing. We frequently put a Thule Force XT XL box on there. Overall I could not recommend these crossbars enough.
Great fit so far, ez to install and look great on the roof of my 04’ Jeep Liberty. I have 2 pair of Thule Kayak racks looking forward to see how they work on the Alleg bars!

I am two years out with Malone roof racks and they are holding up nicely. I did have to replace one of the end caps as it came off at some point. But the part was inexpensive and easy to find.
