Wow - the Yakima is not cheap! Are there any cheaper options that would work with the accessory you linked TH890000 or another set of accessories that would enable 4 kayaks? Thanks,

You could probably get away with using the Invis-A-Rack Folding Ladder Rack # DZ951550 for carrying 4 kayaks on your 2014 Ford F-150 5-1/2' bed but the crossbars are a bit different than normal ladder racks so you'll have to get creative on how to get all of your kayaks loaded up and secured since none of our kayak carriers will fit those crossbars.

My personal favorite is the Yakima OverHaul HD Adjustable Truck Bed Ladder Rack # Y01151-58 because it is built for people needing a ladder rack to use recreationally. The HD crossbars are compatible with standard kayak carriers and the uprights are contoured to match the shape of trucks for a sleek look. These also have height adjustability, tie-down points, and additional accessories that can be mounted for a wide range of setups (see the Rotopax Mounting Kit # Y01167 and SideBar Rails # Y01153 for examples).

To carry your 4 kayaks you can either use 2 of a saddle-style carrier like the Thule Compass # TH890000 or 2 of a post-style carrier like the Malone Stax Pro2 # MPG115MD.

I actually had the opportunity to install the OverHaul HD on a 2020 Super Duty so I've linked that video for you to check out. I know the OverHaul HD has a higher price-point but I've installed it a few times along with some of the other ladder racks and if you plan on using it a lot the OverHaul HD is hands-down the best option.

The Yakima OverHaul HD does come with a higher price-point due to the design and features but you can definitely use the Adarac Pro Series Custom Truck Bed Ladder Rack # A86RR instead which is more cost-effective without sacrificing quality plus it will work with the Thule Compass # TH890000 you mentioned. One of the plus sides of the Pro Series rack is that it comes with rails the uprights slide along so you can move and secure them anywhere along your bed sides. This also mounts on top of the bed sides so it is compatible with tonneau covers that mount inside the bed sides.

Yes, the Yakima OverHaul HD ladder rack part #Y01151-58 that you referenced does have ability to remove rear upright pretty easily so you could load a dirt bike.
